A commitment and circle of support to help Literacy Services of Indian River County end generational illiteracy and improve the quality of life of families in our community.

Dear Friends and Supporters: Last year, Literacy Services of Indian River County tutored more than 320 students, 20% of whom were older adults. With our dedicated group of volunteer tutors and the determination of our students to improve their life and that of their family’s, over 300 reading levels were advanced by our students.

109 students improved their communication skills and 71 improved their job situation. Perhaps most encouraging is that 104 of our students became more engaged in their child’s education — the essential key to ending generational illiteracy.

Joining our Circle of Friends will help us better serve our students while giving you the opportunity to share your support of our vision with like-minded friends.

Literacy Services was formed in 1971. Our volunteer tutors provide free, confidential, and one-to-one tutoring or group settings to individuals age 16 and over. We are supported solely by private funding from individuals, businesses, foundations and the United Way. LSIRC receives no government funding.
