Q:

How can I keep my geraniums blooming all season long?

A: Geraniums are a great choice for adding bursts of color to your garden throughout the season. The first step to keeping them healthy and colorful is to plant them in well-drained soil. Fertilize your geraniums with Osmocote™ or Dynamite™ at the time of planting and continue fertilizing them every three months. Deadhead spent blooms by snapping them off to encourage more blooms. Rock City grows them in a wide variety of colors, including reds, pinks, salmons, oranges, purples, and whites.

Glorious Geraniums Many garden enthusiasts wait patiently each year for the advent of our glorious geraniums. As owner Tom Lowe so expressively said, “Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know our homegrown geraniums are without equal.” Albeit a tad late due to Hurricane Matthew, this year’s propagation was well worth the wait. Our most popular geraniums (zonal) are available in 50 different colors. And our ivy geraniums come in 20 colors. There is no shortage of options unless, of course, you come late to the scene. If you want your favorites planted in containers and garden beds for the holiday, now is the time. Both varieties perform beautifully during our winter season. ZONAL GERANIUMS available in 6-inch pots With robust flower buds and vertical growth, they’re ideal for container gardens or grouped abundantly in garden beds. IVY GERANIUMS available in 5-inch pots With its trailing foliage and perky blossoms, they’re especially beautiful in hanging baskets or added to your container gardens. For help planting and caring for your geraniums, call Rock City Gardens at 772.589.5835.
