Forms of Business Entrepreneurs and small business owners are often confronted with the question of what type of business form their business should use. What form is the best for their circumstances? Well, here's some ideas on the most popular types of ownership and their advantages and disadvantages. What is formal and informal enterprise? If you have a informal enterprise this means you do not have a proper business premises, you may be selling fruit or polishing shoes on the side of the road. A formal enterprise on the other hand has a registered form of business and it should also be registered for tax purposes. The government wants to know about you. Sole Proprietorship A Sole Proprietorship is a type of business ownership that belongs to only one person. The owner takes responsibility for all expenses and capital needed (e.g. machinery, startup costs, raw materials, etc.). The owner also accepts all profits and debts incurred. A Sole Proprietorship is the most simple type of business to start. Beware though, any debts you may have from the business, can be directly attached to your personal possessions. So should the business fail, you may have more to lose. Partnership Groups of people who agree to combine their capital, labour and resources towards some common goal (usually profit). It has two or more partners. It is advisable that you appoint legal practitioner to draw up the contract between the partners. The contract should state what contributions each partner has made, how the profits will be divided and many other aspects within the partnership. Remember, partners are also jointly responsible for debts incurred by other members, so be careful with whom you enter into a
partnership agreement with. Close Corporation A Close Corporation does not have any shareholders, only members who share a common goal. Each member makes a contribution of some money, assets or services towards the Corporation. This form of ownership is limited to 10 members and ends with the [CC] abbreviation. You only need an accounting officer and not a auditor to start a CC. The financing of a Close Corporation is often the biggest problem since there are only 10 members. Members have limited liability for debts, and this leads to banks not easily giving loans towards the enterprise. An association agreement is recommended to be used by members, this regulates the internal relationship between members such as voting powers, payments, member rights, benefits, duties and obligations to the business. You do need to keep proper accounting records, which can be done by an accounting officer, auditor or registered accountant. A close corporation has less formal legal requirements that has to be complied with than a registered company. Registered Company This type of ownership can be public or private. A private company does not sell shares to the general public like a public company would do to raise capital. Every private company has the words (Pty) Ltd after the company name. All companies (and close corporations) are registered with the Registrar of Companies. Private companies require at least 1 shareholder, 1 director and there is a limit of 50 shareholders. The registration of a private company is more complex and costs much more than the other forms of ownership. There are also a lot of formal legal requirements set out in the Companies
Act that needs to be complied with. A company is formally registered when the Registrar issues a Certificate of Incorporation. You also need to complete the memorandum and articles that states the company name, the company objectives and its share capital. It is advised to contact a registered accountant or attorney since the registration process can be tricky with many forms, documents and steps that need to be followed.

A new residential development situated on the unspoilt beachfront 10km north of Walvis Bay on a sloping site was completed at the end of 2010. This luxurious, exclusive development known as Afrodite beach, offers uninterrupted, spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and aims to create affordable luxury in a peaceful, secure environment. Owners and architects are expected to strictly adhere to the architectural guidelines and conditions within Afrodite beach in order to create a harmonious 14

overall character. With these guidelines in place, the development promises to result in an aesthetically pleasing environment consisting of interesting, beautiful architectural designs that step down on terraces towards the beach. This family holiday-residence was the first luxury dwelling to be completed at Afrodite beach and is situated just behind the sea-front erven. The corner site was inspiring with magnificent 360 degrees panoramic views over the
temporarily undeveloped plots. The site presented some challenges, specifically with regards to the harsh microclimate and the natural slope. As a design philosophy the environmental conditions had by far the greatest influence on the design and the zoning, planning and internal flow was secondary considerations. Having said that it was important to adequately solve the spatial requirements and meet the specific holiday needs of the client. The dwelling is
designed to take full advantage of both the viewing cones between future beach-front homes and the warm northern sun. Articulated box shapes are orientated to obtain maximum controlled sunlight in the winter, and the double volume ensures that the heat is distributed upwards through the dwelling. Balconies on the North West glazed faรงades acts as horizontal shading devices to control unwanted heat gain, but most importantly with the mist in the mornings and the fine wind blown dust in the afternoon, the practicality regarding window cleaning becomes a design parameter.
The sloping site called for a stepped design where the different spatial functions of the house are connected with intermediate levels between each area. This concept resulted in pleasant interaction and visual communication between users within the different spatial areas through-out the house. The architecture relies on simplicity of form, clean lines and spatial qualities rather than decoration. The third level living space had to accommodate all the family activities where they could relax, socially interact and generally experience a holiday atmosphere. To optimise the views overlooking the beach, a
shaded, wind-protected patio was designed off the living/entertainment area. This inside/outside concept was followed through to all areas of the home, including the main en-suite that opens up to a private, enclosed courtyard with big sliding doors. Being the first building at Afrodite beach, this holiday-home had to set the tone for single residential developments to follow. The dwelling portrays an inventive interpretation of the architectural guidelines and luxury living that the development wishes to establish.

2. JOINERY Style Kitchens & Joinery manufactures kitchens, build-in- cupboards and bathroom vanities to suit your needs and tastes.. We also pride ourselves in the best craftsmanship on all solid timber. All units and doors are manufactured by Style Kitchens at our new factory in Andimba Toiya ya Toiva str. S-ind (Krupp str). We also specialized in wrap doors, Seno High gloss, shaker, veneer and spray painted doors. All our kitchens, bedroom, bathroom and office’s are 3D designed by Nerina Kotze, keeping you, our customer, in touch with the whole process from design layout, samples swatches for décor alternative and plans. Connecting you with the right man for the job: The Men on the Side of the Road Project Men on the Side of the Road (MSR) is tackling the issue of unemployment in Namibia on several levels. Through skills development and connecting men to job opportunities, we are investing in our community, and changing lives, one man at a time. You can be a partner in creating positive change in peoples lives and our nations future, by contacting MSR when you need additional help with moving, gardening or small construction projects. Men on the Side of the Road is a membership based organization, and only our members are able to benefit from the courses. Life Skills: MSR offers Life Skill courses that cover such essential skills as interview skills, communication, negotiation problem solving etc. With encouragement and pride in these skills, members who have completed this course are more pro-active in their job search. Overall, 50% of our members completing the life skills course have found employment within a month or two. Money management: Eight MSR members completed the 'Be a Faithful Steward Money Management.' This course taught our members how to better manage their money, and provided simple tips for making money last longer by putting some aside for each day. Money management means planning for the future and is another important life skill.
Literacy: MSR members have had the opportunity to attend 'English for the World of Work' literacy classes at CABINcc (Capacity Building Initiatives in Namibia). Five MSR people completed the course and were congratulated for their determination in working to improve their English language skills, another life skills that should make it easier for them to find work. Vocational training: MSR continues to work with the KAYEC Trust to so that our members can gain basic vocational skills in plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, small engine repair and painting, tiling and glazing. Through the generosity of The Pinnacle Metropolitan Empowerment Trust some of these members have also been given a starter toolkit in their particular trade. Database: MSR has a comprehensive database listing each member's contact details and skills, so that you
as a customer can contact MSR who will connect you with the right person for the job. There is no charge for this facilitation service, and you negotiate the wage directly with the work seeker. Connecting the unemployed with job opportunities: MSR is able to introduce "ready to workâ€?, semi-skilled and unskilled members to customers to fulfill their short or long-term employment needs. Customers are introduced to our members at a safe and convenient place of their choice, or we can facilitate interviews, where they will offer their services by showing customers their Namibian-inspired membership card. MSR is helping to put the unemployed on the road to success and making its contribution to reducing unemploy-ment in Namibia. As homeowners, contractors, farmers and business-men and women, you can also make a difference by employing these members with small day jobs at your house or construction site. One day's work can change a life.

I’m an alien, an illegal alien …. We are talking about invasive plants, not individuals without working permits or expired visas!
WHAT IS AN INVASIVE PLANT? It has the ability to thrive and spread aggressively outside its natural habitat – some naturally aggressive ones may be especially invasive when introduced to a new habitat, gaining an ecological edge since the insects, diseases and foraging animals that naturally keep its growth in check in its native range are not present in its new surroundings. Some are worse than others, many continue to be admired by gardeners who may not be aware of their weedy

In some cases, invasive plants arrive purely by accident, as seed in agricultural products, or on shipments from overseas. Beautiful, unusual, exceptionally hardy, drought tolerant, or fast growing plants are sought after by gardeners the world over. Sadly, many times these very
plants may be invasive because of their exceptional adaptable nature. INVASIVE PLANTS • produce large numbers of new plants each season • tolerate many soil types and weather conditions • spread easily and efficiently, usually by wind, water or animals • grow rapidly, allowing them to displace slower growing plants.
WHY WE SHOULD CARE Just because a plant is not spreading in your garden doesn’t mean that the seeds from your plant aren’t spreading elsewhere – washing from your yard into storm sewers and nearby waterways, ready to germinate without any encouragement, sometimes on riverbeds and lake shores. Remove invasive plants from your property, or at least seed heads.
SPRING GARD • If left unchecked, many uses on lands will be limited, now and for future generations. • The natural heritage of our wetlands, forests, rivers and lakes can be harmed. • Our ability to enjoy hunting, fishing, bird watching and other recreational pursuits will be limited. • The longer we wait the more expensive control will become. • Underground water resources are tapped, a scarce and precious commodity in our beloved country.

Melanzanie This is a lovely anti pasta. It really keeps well in the fridge, you can make a big batch and put it on salad or sandwiches. My favourite is serving it with humus, rocket and parma ham on crusty bread. Ingredients: • 4 Aubergine

6 Cloves garlic Bunch of chopped fresh parsley Olive oil Salt & pepper to season
Dressing: • ½ Cup balsamic vinegar • 2 Tbs extra virgin olive oil • 2 tsp sugar Method: Slice aubergine thinly on the length. Crush & chop the garlic. Mix aubergine, garlic & half the chopped parsley together. Rub generously with olive oil, salt & pepper. Lay out flat on a baking tray & bake in a hot oven (200˚C) until golden brown.
Mix dressing ingredients together. Pour dressing over aubergine while it's still hot. Allow to stand for at least half an hour (it gets better the longer it marinades) Serve on a platter sprinkled with the remaining chopped parsley.
