Home loan tips if you’re self-employed Applying for a bond when you're self-employed can be a tedious process, unless you're well prepared and understand the bank's specific requirements and procedures. In order for the banks to establish what your actual monthly income is as opposed to the gross turnover that your company generates, there are a few essential points and guidelines that they examine to establish your personal creditworthiness for a home loan. Banks are particularly cautious when assessing selfemployed applications. Due to the fact that their income fluctuates and cannot be guaranteed, these individuals are considered a higher risk than salaried persons. Since the recession started in 2008, when the banks suffered huge losses and have become more particular in assessing self-employed applications. In the current economic climate in Namibia, there are many self-employed individuals, and the banks appreciate the risk taken by individuals to generate income out of their own businesses, which is healthy for our economy. With more entrepreneurs starting their own businesses, banks understand this new home loans environment and appreciate that small businesses drive our economy, so they strive to assist in every way they can. The criterion to qualify is quite feasible for such individuals to achieve, who therefore may be able to qualify for a loan.

TIME FOR TEA? Exciting and simple! These two words describe the use of herbs for tea. Walk up the garden path with your guests to pick tea, decide what you feel like, visualise what the herbs will look like in the glass teapot, to smell and taste it. Not a complicated task, simply pour boiling water over the herbs, fresh or dried. A few guidelines:
Ÿ Preferably use fresh herbs. Ÿ Depending on their size, use 6 to 8 fresh leafs of a
teaspoon of dried herbs for one cup of tea. Herbs with finer leaves such as thyme or marjoram a few sprigs will do the trick. Ÿ Herbal tea should be weak as strong herbal tea is inclined to be bitter. Ÿ No milk or sugar are added, honey compliments most of these teas. Ÿ A clear glass teapot is the best and the prettiest – one should be able to see the herbs. Ÿ Replace the lid of the teapot after pouring boiling Artist impressions of water over theDevelopment herbs. As it tolerates salt laden air very well, it is an ideal coastal plant, however, it should be sheltered from dry, warm wind. The plant prefers a sunny position and soil that drains. Drought resistant and can handle a fair amount of cold, but not frost. This is one herb that should be used fresh as it loses all flavour once dried. Ideal for pickling as well and a must in bouquet garni. Remember: August is time to aerate you lawn and apply a layer of lawn dressing to get those roots out of their winter slumber. Whole wheat bread
This is a recipe I used to use in my coffee shop. The bread freezes very well so you can bake a batch of 4 and have for the whole week. Ingredients:

Ÿ 6 cups Nutty wheat flour
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients
Ÿ 6 cups white bread flour
Add 1 cup oil Take 2litre luke warm water and add slowly to the mix while stirring continuously. You should end up with a sticky mix- it will not take the whole 2l water. Put into 4 bread tins that have been greased. Leave in a warm place (covered) for approximately 1hour to rise
