Rising Tide sinks Maroons The Tide swelled on Saturday, leading Galax to hoist the Region 1C championship trophy on Pendleton Field. The Maroon Tide edged the Maroons 1714 to keep their season rolling and bringing to an end a memorable season for the boys from Wytheville. The win pits Galax against Honaker in the state semifinal contest with a shot at the state title game in Salem on the line. GW got on the board first, taking a 7-0 win in the first frame thanks to a one-yard plunge from standout QB Tandom Smith. Galax knotted the score in the second stanza when Tedruhn Tucker found the end zone at the end of an eight-yard run. Yanel Vera gave the Tide their first lead of the game before the break, booting in a 32-yard
