Head of School Review

Thanks to all of you for coming out and for participating in our parent teacher conferences. We hope that the day was beneficial and that you came home knowing a little more about your child’s school life It is so difficult to carve out enough time for every need with a school schedule, but we think that facilitating home school communication is so important. The education of a student is a partnership between parents and the school. When done well (and I have been blessed to have been in 3 schools where it was), you form wonderful relationships that last for years The greatest joys of my teaching career are the friendships that I have made with parents and students.

We are steadily approaching Homecoming week, and I know that the students are excited. We hope that you will come out and join us for the Homecoming game and festivities. Our football team has worked so hard this year, and I know that those on the Homecoming Court are excited about the evening. We would also like to invite all of our alums to come back for the event. We will have an alumni tent available. Please contact Suzanne Davidson at sdavidson@rebelmail.net for more information.

Thanks to everyone who helped at The Fall Carnival on Saturday. We are so appreciative of the parents, teachers, and the TRA student ambassadors for their assistance. I would also like to issue a big thank you to Julianna Baker for her hard work and dedication to this project and for leading our PTO!

Lastly, I would like to publicly thank our TRA Board of Directors for their work on behalf of our school. Our Board consists of Harry Sinis (Board Chairman), Rose Fullen (Vice Chairman), Jason Butler (Treasurer), Stacy Fullen (Secretary), Johnny James, Chris Slayman, Wade Cox, Neil Howe, and our newest member Elizabeth Lague. All of these individuals do an extraordinary job and care deeply about our school Please take a moment to thank our Board when you see them for their selfless service to the Academy! As always, thanks for sending us these incredible young people!

Upper School Review

Ms. Hicks had her freshmen health and physical education classes working on research projects related to personal health. Specifically, students were learning about the importance of positive mental health and support systems. After completing research, students created posters and presented what they had learned.

I would also like to recognize two upper school students, chosen by the staff, as the September Students of the Month for Tipton Rosemark Academy Each month throughout the school year, the staff will nominate and vote on a senior student and an underclassman student who stands out both academically and in character The senior student chosen will also be recognized by the South Tipton Chamber of Commerce at their lodge This month, the staff chose senior Brooke Cox and sophomore Neely Grantham.

Brooke is the daughter of Rev. Wade and Dr. Susan Cox of Lakeland. Brooke is a member of TRA’s 30+ Club, has remained on the Headmaster’s List while in high school, and had the highest GPA in her class during 9th and 10th grades.

She is a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Honor Society. Brooke is an officer in the Student Council, Drama Club, and Art Club. She also serves as a student ambassador for TRA, and is a member of the Science and Spanish clubs. Brooke was also nominated for Girls State and participated in the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Humanities. Brooke shared that after she graduates she will miss the easy warm feeling of knowing the names of everyone she comes across in the hallway and being able to have a conversation with anyone about anything just because they happen to be together. Neely is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Grantham. Neely has been on the Headmaster’s list since beginning high school, and was in the National Junior Honor Society. She is very involved outside the classroom as well, participating in Young Life, serving as the Student Council Vice President, and as a student ambassador for TRA. Neely also plays varsity softball for the Lady Rebels She says she loves the community at TRA, and that she has never had a place feel more at home than here. Neely feels like the teachers and students are kind and encouraging, and the love given in a Christian environment surpasses that of any place she has ever been She said there isn’t just one thing she can say is her favorite part of TRA, only that it is truly her home and she knows she will always be a TRA Rebel!

Our carline is running much more smoothly! Thank you for your attention to the items mentioned previously. If you could do one more thing for us, we would greatly appreciate it. Please let our car line assistants open the door to let your child out. This will hopefully prevent children from darting between cars and behind our adults We need to keep an eye on everyone to ensure safety of our students THANK YOU!

Last Friday, our PreK 3 celebrated the end of letter “E” week with a real excavator! The boys and girls LOVED this! A big thank you goes to Mr. Greg Ford for bringing that equipment to our school for our students to see.

Our TRA flag football team is enjoying their season. They practice twice weekly and have weekly games. These boys are learning the fundamentals of football, while also learning about what it means to be a part of a team and working together for a win.

Looking ahead to next week, we have Homecoming week! Remember to check the dress day information that was previously sent home and is in the newsletter from your child’s teacher We will have our field day at the soccer field on Friday at 9:00 followed by a sack picnic lunch We will then come back to the school to watch the parade and pep rally It should be a fun week celebrating our Rebels! GO TRA!
