High School Review

Congratulations to our varsity football team on a season opener victory over Halls last Friday night! What a great way to kick off their season. We are planning to host our first home football game tomorrow night against Gibson County Just a reminder that the game time has already been moved back to 8:00 p.m., due to the elevated heat index forecast.

In other high school athletics, I am pleased to report that all of our varsity programs have begun their seasons with a strong exclamation point! Our Lady Rebels Soccer team is currently 4-0 on the season, and we are so proud of their hard work they’ve already accomplished. Our varsity Lady Rebels Volleyball team is currently 22 in regular season play, and they are also working hard and competing strong Way to go, ladies, keep up the great work! Our golf and cross country programs have been competing as well, although this week has altered plans for many of our outdoor sports. Sophomore runner, Yianni Sinis, placed 9th in the West Tennessee Fleet Feet Jamboree in Jackson on August 12th, and also placed 9th in the Saturday Light Fever meet in Hendersonville, Tennessee last Saturday!

Our fine arts department has been holding auditions and are now preparing for callbacks for their Fall musical production. I am sure they’ve seen many talented students auditioning, and I am kind of thankful I’m not the one having to decide! We are looking forward to seeing their show when it opens later this Fall.

Middle School Review

Academics is one of our four pillars at TiptonRosemark Academy Our middle school teachers work hard to provide our students with engaging learning experiences that introduce and reinforce concepts in all content areas. Although it is only our second week of school, students have already been hard at work gathering and analyzing data, making predictions, and creating conversations in Spanish all while having fun.

Mrs Maddux’s 6th and 7th grade math students participated in a watermelon seed spitting contest. All the students were able to spit seeds, and even our Athletic Director, Johnie Sanfratello got involved! After collecting the data, students were able to determine outliers, find the average distance of the watermelon seeds, and create ways to share their data findings.

Mrs Gezley’s 7th grade science students practiced collecting data determining how many drops of water would stay on the surface of a penny. They used regular water and then changed one variable by using soapy water. Students were surprised at how many drops of water could fit on the surface of a penny! After testing, students determined an average number of drops for the soapy water and regular water Finally, they made a hypothesis about why the penny held more drops of water depending on the kind.

MRS. MILLICAN’S 8TH GRADE SPANISH CLASSES WROTE AND PRESENTED CONVERSATIONS IN SPANISH UTILIZING VOCABULARY WORDS LEARNED LAST YEAR. CONVERSATIONS INCLUDED A GREETING, A MINIMUM OF THREE QUESTIONS/RESPONSES , AND A FAREWELL. ALL YEAR, STUDENTS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHERS USING SPANISH.

Lower School Review

What a busy week we are having! Students and teachers are getting settled into new classrooms and routines. Lots of introductions to new friends and “All About Me” work. We love learning all the fun facts about our new classmates.

First grade read one of my favorite books, Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon, this week. This book is about a little girl named Molly Lou whose grandmother always teaches her to smile, be kind and be yourself The first graders made self portraits of themselves smiling to follow up reading this sweet book.

PreK-3 is busy with all things apples! They have learned the letter “A”, tasted different apples, painted with apples and gone on a scavenger hunt for apple pictures They then sorted the apples found into the three colors red, yellow, and green. They had so much FUN!

Our kindergartners are settling into a routine and learning how to use their promethean boards to enhance their learning. They have also searched all week for Pete the Cat!!! They went on a fun search school wide to learn our campus and meet our administrative team and auxiliary teachers.

Chapel is one of our very favorite times together. Mrs. Dawn Gregory is doing a great job leading our worship time! We love gathering together and singing praises to our Lord and listening to great speakers who teach us about God and His love for us. This week our fifth graders led our songs, and our speaker was Mr. Mark Price. He came to talk to us about Camp Conquest, which is our charity of choice this year. We will work to raise money to build a beautiful chapel there This camp is located in Millington and is for children and adults with special needs.

Mrs. Amy Glenn organized such fun games this week in PE. Our students loved doing various relays that build those foundational skills that help with so many daily activities and sports, too Mrs Amy is also starting our new Bible classes this week, and the students are enjoying learning about God with her.

Our PTO held its first meeting this week, and the turnout was amazing! We are so thankful for our PTO and for the help they provide to our entire school We are surely blessed with the BEST families here, and we do not take the responsibility you have given us of educating your child lightly. We look forward to a phenomenal year working with all of you!

A FEW REMINDERS ABOUT UNIFORMS.

Elementary Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders

I would like to remind you of a few things to make getting back into the routine much easier for all of us:

Please DO NOT DROP OFF BEFORE 7:15 A.M. There are no teachers on duty to supervise your child until 7:15. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50 a.m. Our teacher assistants that are helping in car line have classroom responsibilities beginning at 7:50 Our carline assistants must come inside at 7:50 If you are in line at 7:50, you will need to then park, walk your child inside and sign them in since they will be tardy at 7:50. We have been very lenient on this in the past. However, it is affecting our PreK classes and their ability to start their day on time. Thank you for understanding and adjusting your schedule as needed to arrive and drop off prior to 7:50

Traffic- In the MORNING ONLY, you may enter campus between the church and the PAC, loop around the back of the PAC and drop off your student at the end of the elementary sidewalk. Beginning at 7:15, we will have our teacher assistants in car line to help unload.

For pick up in the afternoon, you may NOT go behind the PAC You will need to enter just past the elementary building on Rosemark Road, go in front of the high school, follow the lane all the way around and between the maintenance building and middle school building to pick up in the same place you dropped off. This is for grades K-5 only, and dismissal is at 2:50. For grades PreK-3 and PreK-4, you will pick up at 2:30 at the awning that faces Rosemark Road PreK-2 parents ONLY will park in the PAC lot or the parallel spaces along Rosemark Road and walk to the front door / foyer of the elementary for pick up.

If you have a middle school student that you are dropping off/picking up, he/she needs to be dropped off and picked up with your elementary student at the elementary designated drop off/pick up locations Please do not stop in front of the middle school to unload Please just stop once at the elementary stopping point and let your middle schooler walk on the sidewalk over to the middle school. This helps expedite our line.

Please help us encourage independence and foster a smooth morning transition for your child by allowing him/ her to walk into the building on his/her own We have assistants on duty to help them get out of the car and teachers on duty at the front door to see that the children make it safely into the building. I know it is hard to do. It is much harder on us as mommas and daddies than it is on them!
