We hope that all of you have had a great week! We have certainly had a wonderful week on campus with so many activities taking place. This week I want to discuss a special act of kindness. While attending the middle school volleyball matches this week, I was moved by a gesture from our teams Before the match, I noticed the teams meeting in a circle and saw our girls handing a gift to the girls on the St. Mary’s team. If you have followed recent news cycles, these past few days have been tough ones for that school with the tragic passing of a cherished faculty member.

I was very touched by this act of kindness and thanked the coaching staff afterward. I don’t know who had this thoughtful idea, but it spoke to the values that we teach at TRA in our 4 Pillars Philosophy. It certainly spoke to Faith, Character, and Service to others But I would argue that it spoke to our academic pillar as well. After all, Academics are not just about what is taught in the classroom at TRA. Sometimes recognizing when others are hurting, and in need of compassion and healing, is the greatest lesson one can learn Thanks to our Middle School Volleyball Girls, their coaches, and the parents in our volleyball community. You represented our school very well Monday night and made your Head of School extremely proud. As always, thanks for sending us this great group of young people!

Last Friday Ms. Vego’s senior government class welcomed former United States Attorney, and current Chief Investigative Counsel for the Tennessee Comptroller’s Division of Investigations, Mike Dunavant. Mr. Dunavant spoke to seniors about his experience in public service. This was a valuable opportunity for our students to hear from one of our alumni stakeholders about local, state, and national service from the perspective of the judicial branch of government. The 21st anniversary of the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center and America was remembered around the Tipton Rosemark campus on Monday of this week High School art students painted the rock to honor and recognize the significance of that day and all of the people affected.

Sophomores - Valentine’s Day

Our students observed a moment of silence for each moment, throughout the morning, that something significant occurred that day. Students also participated in viewing documentaries and having discussions about the impact of the events of that day. The students being taught at TRA today were not even alive in 2001, so it is important for all of us to make sure they know about what happened and how every day men and women all across America became heroes that day, in one way or another.

Our elementary field day will be on Friday of that week. Coach Hood will organize and direct the games for us. For lunch this year, we will have a sack lunch from home. Parents suggested this due to so many students checking out after field day and not eating the lunch that day.

We will have parent teacher conferences on Wednesday, September 28 There will be no school that day for our students Your teacher will be contacting you to sign up for a conference Let me encourage you to come This is not only about your child’s grades It is also a great time to discuss other things like behavior, social skills, etc. Thank you for allowing us the time on this day to have those important conversations with you to discuss your student’s progress.

OUR CLASSROOM TEACHERS AND MRS. STACY WORK HARD TO INSTILL A LOVE OF BOOKS AND A LOVE OF READING IN OUR STUDENTS. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ WITH YOUR CHILD EACH NIGHT. IT DOESN’T MATTER THEIR AGE. FIND A GOOD BOOK THAT IS ON AN APPROPRIATE READING LEVEL FOR YOUR CHILD AND ENJOY THAT SPECIAL TIME EACH NIGHT. ONE DAY, YOU WILL BE THANKFUL FOR THOSE PRECIOUS MEMORIES.

STEAM is taught by Mrs. Wendy Darden this year, and the boys and girls are enjoying her class each week. This week, I observed her teaching a PreK-3 class about colors and how to mix them to make other colors. They LOVED it!

Wednesday is the BEST day of the week for us! We have the privilege of going to Chapel every Wednesday at noon. Mrs. Samantha Pence does a wonderful job leading our elementary Chapel services. Currently she is teaching our students the names of God This week our students learned El Shaddai which means God almighty She taught the boys and girls that God is all powerful, almighty and always keeps His promises She stressed to them that we all get worried or anxious at times When that happens, we should always remember that God is El Shaddai, and He is almighty and keeps His promises. We are so thankful for this time each week to sing praises to our Lord and share in His word!

Our teachers are always working on improving your child’s reading ability. They learn new skills and revise old ones each week to not only teach them to read but to teach them the necessary skills to be great readers who can comprehend well and write well. Our first graders recently learned about character traits They drew self portraits and described themselves using character traits They are so cute! Library is a fun place full of great books Story time with Mrs Stacy is a great time to share a good book As we all know, learning to LOVE to read is so very important in the success of our children
