The Sportsplex press box has new flooring and will be getting new furniture.

Wednesday Late Start Starting August 24th, each Wednesday school will start at 8:30 so that the teachers can participate in Professional Development Activities. This will help us improve our school and have time for divisional planning. Options for families are: For working parents, we will have child care available at 7:15 as normal. Those parents will drop off their children at the regular time just like the other days, and we will care for them until class starts.

Many studies have shown that the block schedule is a more relaxed culture for the students. One important thing is the Block Schedule will begin to prepare our middle school students for high school and our high schoolers for college life.

We will also be painting the interior in the near future. We also hope to update the pavilion area with new tables as soon as we can get them ordered.

The teachers will see fewer students each day and will have more time to get to know their students and develop relationships. With longer class sessions and fewer students each day, the teachers will have time to focus more on students’ individual academic needs. The teachers will have more planning time and more time to develop their curriculum

We have replaced the flooring in the LS Teacher workroom. This looks so much better for our teachers and guests at our school

We are implementing a new schedule in grades 6 12. We are moving to a Block Schedule which is used by many high performing independent schools. This A/B block schedule will do several things: It will be less taxing on the students. They will have longer blocks, but fewer classes each day. They can also focus more on their classes, and having classes every other day gives them longer to finish homework and special projects. Having fewer classes also means less homework per day and more time to focus on individual subjects

CONTINUED For parents with flexible schedules or teenage drivers, school will start promptly at 8:30. The students may get a little extra sleep that morning. Research has shown that growing teenagers do not get adequate rest, so this is their morning to sleep a little longer. This period will give our teachers time to meet as a faculty with their divisions, departments, and grade levels, and to also prepare curriculum for the students. It is difficult to meet at the end of the day with faculty coaching responsibilities, child care needs, and appointments. This will help us to invest that time in our students and school.

One last thing, if you did not get a yard sign, please pick one up at your divisional office. We would love to have you place this in your yard to help us spread the word about TRA! We also would love for you to submit a picture of your child/family with the yard sign to Suzanne Davidson at sdavidson@rebelmail net Thanks so much, and thank you for bringing your awesome children to TRA. We are blessed to have all of you at our school!
