I was talking with some of our faculty members the other day and marveled at the amazing things happening in their classes. From room reveals, to gamification, to handson projects, there are very talented teachers at TRA. We are also blessed to receive new resumes weekly from teachers wanting to teach at the Academy In a time of dire teacher shortages across the country, at Rosemark, we have more candidates than we can hire. I think that the desire to work at TRA starts with our positive school and student culture, the deportment of our students, the opportunity to be creative in their classrooms, and the evergrowing technology program. I would like to thank all of our incredible teachers for the amount of time and work they put into their daily lessons. We are truly blessed to have them working with our students.

Lastly, thanks to all of you for sending us these wonderful kids each day. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with them and to get to know them.

Re-enrollment links have been sent via email. The deadline for current families to reenroll in February 28. New family enrollment begins March 1.

Upper School Review

I want to wish a HUGE congratulations to our 5th and 6th grade girls basketball team! These girls have had a phenomenal season. Wednesday evening they played in the Shelby League A Division championship game against Grace St. Luke While they were not able to come away with the win, we are still so incredibly proud of all they have accomplished this season. Way to go ladies!

A little spoiler alert…our junior United States History students have been working on silent films of their own, as a project for the unit they are currently studying. I caught a sneak peek of some students checking out the prop closet during filming this week I can’t wait to see what they put together! I’ll be sure to cover the final products and share some with all of you next week!

Parents, some of the teachers may have communicated with you already, but I wanted to also remind you that for the remainder of the year we will now have homeroom meetings three times a week rather than just once This is a great opportunity for students to seek additional help with homework, complete makeup work, or get tutoring for anything they may be struggling with. During this time, they can seek help from the teacher they have for whatever subject it might be they may need it for also, which can be a wonderful resource for getting extra help!

6th grader, Ellie Kate Stewart put her superb artistic skills to use this week in her middle school Art class. Elle Kate created a beautifully sculpted clay flower. Great work, Ellie Kate!

Research has shown that when students receive writing instruction, their reading fluency and comprehension improve. Writing is one of the hardest skills to teach a student, and it is also one of the most important. Our teachers are working hard to instill good writing habits in our children and also teach them to enjoy writing. Third grade is busy writing reports on an accomplished African American Our third graders are enjoying learning fun facts about these important people, and they will present their report to their classmates when they are finished with it. I can’t wait to see some of the presentations! Our fourth graders have studied Davy Crockett’s life and put events in chronological order They used a graphic organizer to help formulate well written sentences into a three paragraph expository essay. Students then typed the essay on their computer and added clip art pictures that related to his life. Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. Karen had their students focus on the elements of good sentence structure, improving editing skills and participating in peer reviews.

PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN ALL JACKETS, SWEATERS AND PULLOVERS. WE HAVE LOTS OF LOST AND FOUND ITEMS THAT DO NOT HAVE A NAME IN THEM. ALSO REMEMBER THAT HOODIES ARE ALLOWED ONLY ON FRIDAYS. THE ONLY SWEATSHIRTS AND 1/4 ZIPS ALLOWED FOR DAILY WEAR ARE THE ONES WITH THE TR LOGO ONLY ON THE UPPER LEFT CHEST.

KISS A COW??? I bet that got your attention! Coach Nick Stevenson is having a very unique fundraiser for his track team. Elementary students will get to VOTE, by bringing in money, on who they would like to see kiss a cow The person who has the most money donated has to kiss a cow on the day of the Project R12 water walk in April. Elementary participants are Mrs. Amy Henning, Coach Tabias Hood, Mrs. Samantha Pence, Mrs. Karen Grigsby, and me. This will start on Wednesday, February 15 and end on Thursday, February 23 Be sure to send in ALL your extra change and cash so that one of those other four people get to kiss that cow!!!!

Our PreK-4 and Kindergarten classes celebrated 100 days of school this week. Moms and dads did a FABULOUS job of dressing these boys and girls up into some hilarious and so cute outfits. They loved this day! Our daddy / daughter dance is THIS FRIDAY! Ticket link will be open until Friday morning. If you have not purchased your tickets, please do so ASAP! I can’t wait to see all the girls dressed up and having fun with their dads!
