Special congrats to senior, Tyler Byrd for being named as a TSSAA Mr. Basketball finalist. This is Tyler’s first time being nominated for Mr. Basketball, but it is the third season our basketball program has had a Mr. Basketball Finalist named! Good luck, Tyler, of course TRA thinks there’s clearly no other choice for this honor besides you!

Upper School Review

BY STEPHANIE WEHRER So much has been happeni ng around our campus, and especi ally i n the upper school . On Saturday, the Fi ne Arts Program hel d the annual Talent Show i n the Performi ng Arts bui l di ng. Once agai n, our communi ty i s remi nded of the depth of i ncredi bl e tal ent wi th whi ch so many of our students have been blessed.

Saturday al so brought some exci tement from our basketbal l teams. Both teams won thei r fi rst round regi on tournament games, wi th the gi rls away defeati ng SGIS, and the boys knocki ng off Hardi ng at home. Sadl y, both teams’ seasons came to an end i n the second round thi s week. The gi rl s l ost on Monday to Tri ni ty, whi le the boys fi ni shed Tuesday ni ght agai nst SGI S. These student athl etes worked extremely hard all season, agai nst al l types of adversi ty, and we coul dn’ t be more proud of them.

One of our seni or proj ect groups from l ast semester, worked wi th Ms. Lara Engli sh to revi ve the TRA Ki ndness Cl ub at TRA. The ai m of thei r cl ub i s si mple, and stated wi thi n thei r name, to promote acts of ki ndness for others. One of the tasks the proj ect group was not abl e to perform before the fi rst semester ended was hot chocolate for parents i n the el ementary car l i ne. Thi s group of students were commi tted to compl eti ng the ful l l i st of pl ans they had begun. So on Monday, the Ki ndness Club al ong wi th Student Counci l , provi ded hot chocol ate for the parents i n the elementary and mi ddl e school car ri der l i nes on Val enti ne’ s Day. Seni or Megan Pfi efer led the charge for organi zi ng thi s acti vi ty. Thank you, from al l of the TRA communi ty, to each student that parti ci pated i n maki ng thi s happen. These are the types of acti vi ti es, and i ntenti onal behavi ors, that truly make a di fference i n the l i ves of others. Great work students!

Lower School Review

BY SUSAN CRANFORD Love has been in the air in the elementary building! Students enjoyed many fun Valentine Day activities and performed several acts of kindness.

Our classes all had a fun party on Monday and parents enjoyed attending this fun event. Our fourth graders made Valentine’s Day cards and left the cards and a balloon on the cars in the high school parking lot. These students and faculty members were so surprised when they left school. I am sure it put a smile on all their faces!

We had a wonderful visit from author Rachel Kenyon last week. She read books and did activities with one of our PreK 3 classes and our third graders. Her books were wonderful examples of being kind and showing love to one another.

Our third graders are learning adjectives and described themselves and classmates with a self portrait. They were so creative, cute and kind when describing each other.

First graders had fun reading the book I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More and doing a painting self portrait afterwards. They read this as part of a study on fiction books that entertain us. We love using children’s literature to teach our standards!
