Head of School Review

It has been a busy week on campus as we have started our spring sports, prepared for our last months of academics, and also have students practicing for our spring fine arts events. This is an exciting time on campus as this weekend technicians begin our internet network rebuild. This rebuild will make our network cutting-edge and meet our needs for many years to come. If you see workmen on campus this weekend, they will be running new cables, removing old hardware, adding new server racks, and installing new access points and switches

As well, in the days to come, we will be equipping our middle and upper school science and math departments with new interactive Promethean Boards. This should be a huge upgrade for those programs as we continue building our technology program to better serve our students.

In addition, we are working on the surfacing on the elementary playground. This surface work will be safer, provide cushioning, and improve the aesthetics of our elementary playground. Lastly, you will notice some patching starting next week (if the weather holds) on our parking lot. We hope to repave our front parking lot (hopefully over spring break). This will be a huge upgrade for our campus and was made possible by a generous gift to our school. We have been so blessed in the past few months, and God has been present in the life of our school in so many ways. We are thankful for all of these opportunities to improve our campus and grateful to all of you for sending us these great kids!

Re-enrollment links have been sent via email. The deadline for current families to reenroll in February 28. New family enrollment begins March 1.

Upper School Review

Mrs. Vego’s Tennessee History class just completed research projects over important figures in the history of our state. Earlier this week, they brought the completed projects in to share and present. Great work, students, and Mrs. Vego!

Mrs Maddux’s middle school math classes played a little integer bingo this week. Such a fun way to learn math concepts, and also have a little fun at the same time!

Students in Mrs. Maxwell’s Painting class decided to create a piece together where each student used a different paint color, a different sized brush, and used different brush strokes. What an interesting concept, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out! We have so many creative and talented students within our school!

Coach Dean’s 8th grade Physical Science classes just completed a unit on heat and energy. Earlier this week they did a project where they made an insulated container. They heated up water to pour into their containers, and then took temperature measurements every ten minutes for a half hour Then, students compared results to determine which container retained the most heat. This made my former science teacher heart very happy to hear about!

I also visited Mrs. Gezley’s 7th grade science class this week, and had the chance to see some of her students presenting projects over different Biomes. I was so impressed with the presentation skills, and the work prepared with their slides. Some of the students included embedded videos in addition to their text research and photos. They did a really good job, and I am so proud of them.

1 Corinthians 13:4 says “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” I feel this in our school every single day! This week, as we all celebrated Valentine’s Day, it has been even more apparent.

Our Kindergarten teachers asked their students, as well as our teachers, administrators and staff to write down what their favorite things about TRA are. It was hard to limit mine to two hearts! These are displayed in the hallway, and they are such a great reminder of so many things that we are grateful for here at TRA. We are blessed!

Our annual daddy/daughter dance was last Friday night and was a HUGE success! The girls looked beautiful and had so much fun dancing with friends and with dad, too. This is such a fun event and one that they all look forward to each year.

This Friday, our moms and sons will battle it out in the MPR for our mom/son nerf night. If you have not gotten your ticket, please do so soon! The nerf night will be from 6:30-8:30 tomorrow night in the MPR! It will be loads of fun for sure!

PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN ALL JACKETS, SWEATERS AND PULLOVERS. WE HAVE LOTS OF LOST AND FOUND ITEMS THAT DO NOT HAVE A NAME IN THEM. ALSO REMEMBER THAT HOODIES ARE ALLOWED ONLY ON FRIDAYS. THE ONLY SWEATSHIRTS AND 1/4 ZIPS ALLOWED FOR DAILY WEAR ARE THE ONES WITH THE TR LOGO ONLY ON THE UPPER LEFT CHEST.

Our fourth graders made and delivered Valentine cards to our upper school students this week. They used conversation hearts to practice text evidence. These students also made and sent virtual Valentines to the patients at St Jude Our Kindergarten students made and delivered Valentines to their Senior buddies. I am sure these high school Seniors LOVED this sweet surprise! What great ways to share love for one another!

Our boys and girls are SO excited about the TRA track/cross country fundraiser They can bring in change/money each day for the next week to “vote” for who they would like to see KISS a COW during the Project R12 walk in April. Lower school participants are Susan Cranford , Samantha Pence, Karen Grigsby, Amy Henning and Tabias Hood Students can bring in money through next Friday, and the person receiving the most money will kiss the cow! Mrs. Karen’s students are so excited that they even made posters and put them in the halls of the elementary school to encourage others to vote for Mrs Karen!

Re enrollment for our current families has been sent and has a February 28 deadline to submit without added fees Please get yours in quickly We want you to secure your spot with us for next year! We love having all of you here with us!
