Head of School Review BY DR. ANDY GRAHAM

What an exciting week on campus with football advancing to playoffs, Yianni Sinis representing TRA at state for cross country, and a really busy week of school. We have also enjoyed looking at the fantastic artwork from our visual arts students displayed in the connector area. The days leading to Thanksgiving are always busy with so many opportunities for students, parents, and our faculty members:

The Masked Singer will be held on November 5th at 6 pm. There will be many talented singers participating, and this will be a fun activity for the whole family. We are excited to host Leadership Millington on our campus on November 10th! We are looking forward to touring these local leaders around our campus and introducing them to the special school that we have at TRA. In addition, we would like to invite you to our Veteran’s Day Program on November

The Student Council executive board attended the TASC West TN workshop hosted by Ripley Middle and High at Bellevue. Brooke Cox and Emma Pence presented breakout sessions on Community Outreach.

11th! We are thrilled to have our Veterans back on campus to honor them for their dedicated service. This event will have a reception prior to the show in our TRA Performing Arts Center, and then the production will take place in our gymnasium at 1 pm. Lastly, I am excited to be traveling with several faculty and administrative members to the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools Conference in Chattanooga over the weekend. Dr. Jennifer Graham and Mrs. Amy Henning will be presenting a workshop for teachers entitled “Hands-On, Exploratory Approach to Teaching Math & English in Upper Elementary/Middle School: How Movement & Fun Bring These Subjects To Life.” We are excited about attending and supporting these teachers as they share their teaching practices and pedagogy with others. As always, thanks so much for bringing us your fabulous kids!

Upper School Review CONTINUED

Our senior students are attending a field trip today, to the Federal Justice Building in downtown Memphis. Students have a full itinerary of exciting but important events, where they will see firsthand many important steps of the judicial branch of government. I cannot wait to hear all about when they return to campus. This is such a wonderful opportunity for our students! Yesterday afternoon freshman Yianni Sinis and cross country coach Nick Stevenson made their way to middle Tennessee. Yianni will be representing TRA for the second consecutive year at the state cross country meet. We ask for your prayers over Yianni, his family, and Coach Stevenson for traveling mercies as well as a healthy, safe run today. Good luck Yianni, your school family and the entire TRA community are so proud of you! I’d also like to congratulate

Students have been submitting pieces for the school-wide art show over the last couple of weeks, and Ms. Maxwell has been working hard to get them displayed in the upper school connector. Art submissions will be judged on Tuesday, ahead of the parent preview that evening. There are so many awesome submissions, and it is going to be quite a challenge to place them! Next week, I will share photos of the category winners!

the entire cross country team on a great season, finishing 7th overall in the region at last week’s meet. We also covet your prayers of traveling mercies over our football team and coaches this morning, as they make their way also to the middle Tennessee region of our state. The Rebels will match up against Middle Tennessee Christian tomorrow night at 7pm. These players and coaches have worked hard, and we are so proud of what they are trying to accomplish. Good luck, players and coaches!

Lower School Review BY SUSAN CRANFORD

One of the four pillars of TRA is service. Our fourth grade participated in a service day last Friday at Covington First United Methodist Church. The students stocked the church’s Bread of Life Food Pantry. They also visited the police station and handed out cards that they students made for them. We love that our students have such servant hearts and we are thankful for our Christian teachers who lead them so well. Our PreK-2 had their very own pumpkin patch last Friday also. They had fun with a craft, a picture station, hayride, and “picking” a pumpkin to take home. They ended the morning with a picnic lunch on the big playground. It was a beautiful day and our two year olds along with their parents and/or grandparents had the best time. Our entire preschool had a fun fall activity day on Monday. Each preschool class enjoyed a story and song time, a craft time, and a snack time. They loved visiting each of the rooms to do these fun activities!

Mrs. Amy Henning is having one of her famous “theme rooms” this week. Fifth grade students are having a “glow room”. Each of the stations are academic based and review previously taught standards. This was such a great surprise for them and they are LOVING it!!!!

Our pumpkin contest winner was announced Tuesday and the winner was 5th grade! They won with a total of $377.77. The total for grades PreK-2 - 5th was $2,183.26. Thank you for your support!

We love our PreK-2 - 12th grade campus! Our kindergarten students are paired with a Senior buddy and they do many things throughout the year. They recently took the Seniors a locker treat and left it in their locker. What a fun surprise for them! One of our third grade classes visited Mrs. Maddux’s class to do a fun STEAM activity together. Both groups had so much fun! We love our mentoring opportunities and the fun memories made when different grade levels work together! Our students are participating in the Beta Club food drive to benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry. Items will be collected starting Monday, November 7 through next Friday, Nov. 18. Classes with 100% participation will receive a dress down day. Please donate the below items for this wonderful organization which helps so many families in our immediate area.
