I want to begin by updating you on our SAIS visit which concluded

on

November

19th.

Our

school

was

unanimously recommended for reaccreditation for the next 5 years. The committee commended our school in many areas: They were incredibly impressed by our students and found them to be kind, centered, respectful, proud of their school, and wonderful representatives of TRA.

CONTINUED The committee also praised the service work that our students were doing on and off-campus and mentioned our food drive, Project R12 efforts, and the diligent work on campus with the senior projects.

We were also commended on our TRA Student Ambassador Program and the student’s commitment to assist others in our school community. This program was identified as a model for the committee members to take home and put into place at their schools.

Our strong chapel offerings were identified as a significant strength and the committee appreciated our commitment to making God the focus of the work we do on campus.

Finally, the committee applauded the work of our faculty and staff, our facilities and cleaning staff, our administrative team, and our Board of Directors for their combined steadfast work and commitment to our school.

In the end, it takes all of us working together in cohesion to make the Academy a wonderful place for our students. I will add one more ingredient that may be even more important, the support of our invested parents who are committed to providing the best Christian education for their children. Thanks to all of you for your continued support, your encouragement, and for sending us these wonderful kids each day. We are richly blessed to have each of them at TRA!

Upper School Review

On Friday, November 19, TRA’s senior government class was joined by TRA alum, Mayor Justin Hansen. Justin is the current mayor of Covington, Tennessee. He met with the senior students to discuss the responsibilities and duties of mayors in local government, in addition to the functions of government at varying levels. We are fortunate to have such a wealth of invested former students, who are willing to return to campus and share their experiences with current students. Thank you, Mayor Hansen for spending some time with our own future leaders!

Upper School Review CONTINUED Ms. Ann Watson’s Biology 2 students are studying the circulatory system. On Thursday, November 18, this class conducted a blood typing lab. Students used simulated blood of different “patients,” and saw the agglutination reaction of the different blood types with the anti-A, anti-B, and anti-Rh antibodies. I know awesome hands-on learning opportunities may not be as exciting to everyone, but this former science teacher LOVES to see

active learning in action! Ms. Watson always does a great job of providing students with instructional opportunities such as this, that truly bring learning to life and meaning to the everyday lives of our students.

This week our high school academic societies from National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Beta Club held their induction ceremony to recognize the newest students meeting membership criteria. Witnessing the students being recognized from each of these three societies is a visual representation of the depth of academic achievement within our student body, as well as the hard work our individual students put into being successful. I am incredibly proud of these students!

Finally this week, I would like to leave you with some noteworthy ACT numbers from our current senior class. To date, 34% of the class of 2022 are members of TRA’s 30+ club. The most recent data indicates that only 46% of high school seniors across the nation score at least a 21 ACT composite score (the college readiness benchmark score), however, 72% of the class of 2022 have scored at least a 21 or higher! The chart below will reflect a comparison of students nationally, and then at TRA meeting benchmark scores in each of the four subject

areas tested on the ACT. These seniors have worked very hard, and it definitely shows!

Lower School Review

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving break and spent some much needed time with family and friends.

These next three weeks will be fast and furious! We have lots of standards to master and lots of holiday fun to squeeze in, too!

Our

fourth

graders

completed

a

directed

writing

assignment titled the “Mayflower Mishap”. The students enjoyed this fun writing project. They loved coming up

Congratulations to Emme Williamson, Georiganne Phelps, Naomi Blair, Logan West, and Adam Walker on being selected to the 2022 Tennessee Treble Honor Choir. This is a huge accomplishment!

These members were selected by an audition to sing with other fifth and sixth grade students from across the state of Tennessee. They will perform for the Tennessee Music Education Association conference which is held at Opryland Hotel on April 29-30.

did

a

biography book report. Students read a biography of a famous person, and then they took a bottle and made a doll to resemble this famous person. This is a long standing tradition here at TRA, and the students love showing off their doll creations. We had a great sampling of many important people in history.

before

Thanksgiving. Please let your teacher know if you have any questions or concerns about your student’s progress.

We have two weeks after this week to complete grades for this second nine week grading period.

We had two special readers in our elementary chapel today. Seniors Addie Glass and Gracen Williams read a wonderful book titled A Christmas Promise. Chapel is one of the highlights of our week! We are so thankful for TRA where we can worship our Lord freely and teach our students about God’s love daily.
