I hope this letter finds you well I wanted to take a moment to update you on the fun we're having on the 8th-grade trip. We've been having a blast exploring new places, learning new things, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

The trip started off with a visit to the Air and Space Museum and a trip to Arlington National Cemetery Each year this is one of the highlights for me. Arlington is a beautiful place, but for us to have the chance to honor those who have served bravely for our country is special. The students also got to see the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on this busy day.

We have also visited the World War 2 Monument, Korean War Monument, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument just to name a few activities. We still have two more days of adventures, and we look forward to visiting Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg tomorrow.

Throughout the trip, I've been impressed by how well-behaved and respectful the students have been. They have been great ambassadors for our school and have made this trip even more enjoyable for everyone

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our eighth grade parents for allowing their children to participate in this trip. I truly believe that these experiences are invaluable and will help them grow and develop in many ways I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their journey and to watch them thrive.

Upper School Review

About a week ago, Mrs. Grantham’s High School Seminar students welcomed a guest speaker, Mr. David Rochester. David is a senior financial advisor with Shoemaker Financial in Germantown, Tennessee. What a great opportunity for our students to hear from leaders within our community.

This week, the seniors in High School Seminar participated in mock interviews as their final project for the semester This is a great opportunity for students to gain real-world experience for college, the workforce, or even just for life beyond high school. Great work seniors, and to you as well, Mrs. Grantham!

One of the sweetest traditions recently started at TRA, is the Graduate Parade where seniors and kindergarten students are paired up as buddies at the beginning of the year. Throughout the year they get the opportunity to get to know and build sweet friendships. Their last event together is breakfast and a parade around campus in their caps and gowns before we celebrate their big milestones at graduation. Well done, kindergarten students and seniors! We are so proud of your hard work and accomplishments.

TUESDAY, STUDENTS CHOSEN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS STUDENTS OF THE MONTH FOR THE SOUTH TIPTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, WERE RECOGNIZED AT A BREAKFAST BANQUET. WE ALSO ANNOUNCED THE 2023 STUDENT OF THE YEAR FROM THIS POOL OF STUDENTS, MISS LILLIE GARNER!

CONGRATULATIONS, LILLIE!

Our 8th grade students are visiting the nation’s capital this week, and have already logged in a lot of miles and sight-seeing at many historic landmarks. We cannot wait to hear all about their adventures when they are back on campus next week! We ask that you join us in praying for safety and traveling mercies as they make their way back home this weekend.

The 7th graders took a field trip on Thursday to the Memphis Zoo, for a frog dissection demonstration. This was a great experience for these students, and we are grateful to Mrs. Gezley and Coach Dean for taking them on such a fun field trip!

Today, 6th grade students are on a field trip to the Brooks Museum in Memphis. We cannot wait to hear all about it when they get back. Thank you to Mrs. Maddux and Ms. Jones for taking our students on such a fun trip!

One of the best parts of our job as educators is seeing the growth in our students as they learn to accomplish more and more as the year progresses Kindergarten teachers celebrated with a “monster party” this week as their students completed all levels of “Teach Your Monster to Read”. They have worked hard each week on mastering all the levels, as this reinforces the phonics and reading skills being taught in class These boys and girls were so excited!!

Kindergarten also participated in what is one of my VERY FAVORITE days here at TRA. We had our annual Kindergarten and Senior breakfast and parade of graduates Our kindergarten boys and girls shared breakfast with their buddy and also gave them written words of advice for college. I think my favorite advice included “Be kind like Jesus and call your momma!” Wouldn’t those be great words for all of us? After breakfast they paraded our halls, hand-in-hand, in their caps and gowns. This is absolutely the sweetest, cutest event!

TODAY WAS THE LAST DAY FOR OUR SOFTBALL SLUGGERS AND BASEBALL BUDDIES! WE HAVE SO ENJOYED THEIR VISITS THIS SPRING. WE LOVE THE FRIENDSHIPS MADE AND MENTORING THAT TAKES PLACE ON OUR CAMPUS BETWEEN OUR LOWER SCHOOL AND UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS.

STEAM students this week participated in the egg drop challenge. This was so much fun and so creative. Mrs. Wendy differentiated the difficulty of the requirements to fit the grade level. Students learned about gravity and that it is a force of attraction that pulls on a mass, which is how much “stuff” an object is made of. The padding added to the egg and other additions, such as parachutes, etc., help absorb the impact felt when the egg hits the ground Of course the challenge was to not let your egg break when dropped from a high surface. This was so fun and required some super creative thinking. We might have some future engineers!

Mrs Samantha made a video of different students from various grade levels stating what they learned in Chapel this year. This was wonderful and such a blessing to us all to hear the many things they learned this year during our worship time.

As you can see, we are so busy, and it is going to be a fast and furious ride to May 19th!

THIRD GRADE HAS BEEN SUPER BUSY WRAPPING UP THE IDENTIFICATION OF ALL 50 STATES BY REGION. THEY ALSO ARE WORKING ON COMPARING FRACTIONS AND LEARNING ABOUT MYTHS, DRAMAS, AND PLAYS. CHAPEL WAS GREAT THIS WEEK!
