TRA'SFOUR PILLARS
FAITH
Faith is how it all began in 1965 That is when a group of citizens became concerned about the quality of their children's education because prayer and the Bible had been removed from public schools. It was their desire that Christian teaching remain a part of their children's education Today, FAITH remains one of the pillars of our school, as our students live their faith through participation in prayer, devotionals, biblical instruction and chapel
ACADEMICS
We believe a solid foundation for successful higher education and wise life choices includes positive faculty student relationships and a challenging college preparatory curriculum. Our low student:teacher ratio allows for differentiated and individualized instruction and gives teachers the flexibility to address specific needs With ACT based standardized testing beginning in the 3rd grade, our students are prepared for the next level They continually meet our goal of 100% college acceptance and receive millions in scholarship funds each year.
CHARACTER
Is good character just as important as good grades? We sure think so! Successful students perform well both in and out of the classroom Honest, dependable, caring, fair, humble, generous these are important words we are proud to use when describing our students, teachers and alumni
SERVICE
Service is TRA's final pillar and focuses on kind gestures both on and off school campus. Whether it's coordinating a drive for the local food pantry, assisting communities in need due to disastrous weather, small projects on campus, reading to/assisting fellow students in lower grades, helping teachers or volunteering during special events we encourage our students to think about others
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark
VERSE MISSION BELIEFS

Extracurricular activities aid students in developing strong character, new talents, and social and leadership skills
NEW BEGINNINGS
StephanieWehrer AssociateHeadofSchoolUpperSchoolPrincipal
But, whether we are winning or losing, it is our commitment to develop students that exemplify Colossians 3:23 who, “work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,” in all areas of their lives.
It is my honor and privilege to welcome the students, families and staff of Tipton Rosemark Academy’s upper school back to campus for the 2022 2023 school year!
Last year was dubbed New Beginnings as we embraced new faces and opportunities for our school. This year we are eager to further build upon the steady benchmarks of consistency TRA has maintained amidst the challenges schools and educators have faced over the last two years with the pandemic and remote learning dynamics
Our school’s 2022 ACT, ACT Aspire, and PreACT scores continue to reflect that continuity of high-quality instruction, and we could not be prouder of the hard work demonstrated by our students and faculty.
Both ACT Aspire scores and the PreACT scores for students in 8th and 9th grades exceed the national average, as well as the college readiness benchmarks in every tested area.
TRA’s Class of 2022 boasts a 100% college acceptance rate, with over $5.3 million in total scholarship awards offered. Another impressive accomplishment for this senior class is that nearly 40% of these graduates were members of TRA’s ACT 30+ Club, with an average Composite Score of 24 3, outperforming the national and state averages by 3 to 4 points respectively Our accomplished graduates were accepted at Arkansas, Abilene Christian, Arkansas State University Mid South, Florida State, Fordham, Furman, Hendrix, Moorehouse, Millsaps, Mississippi State, North Alabama, Ole Miss, Sewanee, Tennessee, Wofford, and UT Martin just to name a few!
In addition to strong academic performance in 2021 2022, TRA’s extracurricular programs represented our school in similar spectacular fashion as well. Our students have the opportunity to get involved in many high performing programs outside of the classrooms, where each program individually supports the school’s efforts in developing well rounded students who are more than prepared to stand out as leaders in our community, and beyond.
Our school was awarded the Anne Dallas Dudley Gold Level Award for registering 100% of eligible senior students to vote in local, state and national elections. Tennessee’s Secretary of State, Tre Hargett, visited campus to speak to our students and present the award to TRA and to Ms. Jenny Vego for her efforts in accomplishing this notable achievement.
TRA’s fine arts program is one of the premier programs throughout our area, and most recently received a dozen nominations for the Orpheum’s High School Theatre Awards Program The program, along with two individual students, won in the categories of Best Supporting Actor and Best Hair & Make Up. Our athletic teams have excelled beyond regular season play in many of our sports.
TRA graduate from the class of 2022, Tyler Byrd, was named as TSSAA’s Mr Basketball for our school’s respective division for the entire state of Tennessee
Elyse Warren was selected as the South Tipton Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year for TRA for 2022.
The softball team competed in the 2022 state tournament in their first year competing in a higher classification, finishing as state runners up and bringing home the silver trophy
Yianni Sinis competed at both the TSSAA high school state cross country meet, and track meet as an 8th grader!
We are certainly proud of all of our students for representing our school well in so many areas both inside and outside of the classrooms. But, whether we are winning or losing, it is our commitment to develop students that exemplify Colossians 3:23 who, “work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,” in all areas of their lives
I have continually shared throughout my time as a member of the Tipton Rosemark school community, that this precious school has been overwhelmingly guided by the Sovereign and Providential Hand of God. This year has brought our school one of the largest enrollment increases I have experienced in my time at TRA. One of the greatest blessings of my life, as an educator, is the opportunity to serve the academic and spiritual needs of YOUR greatest blessings Our faculty and staff fully recognize what a privilege and responsibility it is to be entrusted with the important work being done in the lives of these students The start of every school year is always busy, and even when we feel tired, the upper school faculty and staff will celebrate the busyness because it means another day to serve our students and their families. Our school community is full of faithful prayer warriors, who daily intercede on behalf of the lives within the school. We feel them, and we continue to be grateful for those people and all of their prayers each day.

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
WELCOME BACK
SusanCranford LowerSchoolPrincipalI have the best job in the world, and I thank you for sharing your child with us each day.
Welcome back! I hope that your summer was filled with many sunny days and fun adventures with your children. We are in full swing of our new school year, and I am so happy that your child is with us! We are excited to help him/her grow academically and spiritually
Our teachers are are already working hard to make this year a fabulous one for your child and for you. You, our parents, are one big part of that equation that will make your child’s year a wonderful one. Praying with your child, studying with your child, and having dinner together are all intricate parts of a happy, loving home Just as they do in the classroom, children thrive with structure and consistency in the home
I am thrilled to tell you that our ACT Aspire test results from Spring 22 are outstanding! A huge number of our 3rd 5th graders reached the ACT readiness benchmark in multiple subjects. These individual scores are being sent home with next week’s signed papers Our teachers do an outstanding job teaching the standards with the differentiation needed to assure each child is successful
Our PreK classes are filled to capacity, and these little ones have transitioned easily into their daily routine. It is so much fun to watch these two, three and four year olds explore, play and learn each and every day Our new playground addition gives the younger students an exciting area on which to climb and play
Students in grades K 5 are also settling into new class procedures and routines. They love being back with old friends and making new ones, too We have several new families this year, and we are very thankful to have them join our TRA family I really do appreciate our veteran parents welcoming our new families and making the transition an easy one for them
Our PreK-3 - fifth grade teachers are pumped about their Promethean Boards and the possibilities of these for enhancing classroom instruction We received additional training on these during our first late start Wednesday PD time last week. Our students love them, too!
This fall will bring some of our wonderful TRA traditions: TRA carnival, Little Rebels, tailgating on “Rebel Row” before our football games, preschool Thanksgiving programs and much more We are also excited about fun fall elementary sports additions such as flag football and elementary volleyball First and foremost, at the root of all things academic and athletic, is our teaching of God’s word and God’s love
As you can see, it is a great time to be a TRA Rebel I have the best job in the world, and I thank you for sharing your child with us each day. As we embark on this year together, please remember that our teachers are Christ followers, and we care for the welfare and academic excellence of all our children. We thank God for each and every one of our students and their families, and we are so happy to share TRA together with you.

Throughout the pages of this magazine, we are featuring the work of our talented elementary, middle and high school visual art students Many of the featured pieces were selected as winners during the 2021 22 Art Show There is no doubt that our performing and vocal arts programs are top notch, but as you can clearly see, our visual arts students are impressive as well. In fact, three of our students placed in the 2022 Scholastic Art Contest, the nation’s longest running and most prestigious program for creative teens in grades 7 12. Olivia Kennedy recieved the Gold Key (regional top honor) in photography while both Sierra Slayman and Nathan West received honorable mention awards for their paintings
Visual art students can often be found around campus with their cameras shooting at creative angles for their digital photography class. Additionally, they assist in creating graphics for the athletic and arts social media accounts
We recognize the value of arts and appreciate the fact that Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill.

Achievement Achievement
Mike Proctor '80 Awarded the TRA Fine Arts Lifetime Achievement Award
Learning generosity from his Papa and Uncle Bill, Mike Proctor went to work at Pruitt’s gas station before he was even old enough to drive Mike always wanted some pocket money not only to pay his own way in life, but also to help family and friends who needed it
Once in high school at Tipton Rosemark Academy Mike worked after school at Thompson’s Cotton Gin and also began playing football. From football coaches Fowler and Ivy, he learned courage, integrity, and determination in the face of adversity. TRA's Theater teacher, Deborah Nelson, spotted acting talent in Mike and cast him as the comical villain Bud Frump in “How to Succeed at Business Without Really Trying ” What is it that actors really do? They CONVINCE you that they are the character they play Mike would go on to use this gift of persuasion to encourage and convince many of his friends and future employees to believe in themselves and to be more than they ever dreamed they could be
After graduating from Tipton Rosemark Academy, a semester at Memphis State University led to a job at FedEx sorting packages in the hub. Soon Mike worked his way up to ramp agent followed by a manager’s position in Atlanta. After several years there, Mike transferred back to FedEx headquarters in Memphis where he caught the eye of Pete Looker Sr., the owner of Satco, Inc. Pete convinced Mike to come work for Satco as his new Vice President Satco makes and repairs Unit Loading Devices, the containers that hold packages within a cargo plane, for customers like FedEx, UPS, DHL, and more Mike oversaw the continual expansion of Satco, opening new locations in the US and abroad Today, Mike is the CEO of Satco something he achieved using the lessons he learned as a child and young adult from his family, coaches, and teachers at TRA: “Be generous and share your success, never give up, always do the right thing, treat people like you want to be treated, and inspire and encourage everyone around you."
A message from Mike Proctor
"The TRA Lifetime Achievement Award touched me and I immediately felt it was a recognition of results of so many more than just myself The award was given to me but must be shared with the Lord above, my Family, Carl Williams TRA Headmaster (1975 1986), Bobby Fowler Football Coach, Debbie Nelson Theatre Director, Brother White School Pastor and the many students and parents that loved to participate.
I have also given thanks in my prayers for what I call the "TRA Passion” This passion taught us the importance of being a good steward of each day and planted a life long example for us all to follow
I further believe no one man achieves eminent success by themselves or by simply doing what is required It is and always will be achieved by being hungry to help others and the desire to give over and above what is expected
I may have become the Chief Executive Officer of a company on the world stage, but I always tell everyone that I am the Chief Encouragement Officer. This belief was born at TRA & I remain humbled and blessed to be a part of the TRA Family!"
I further believe no one man achieves eminent success by themselves or by simply doing what is required.
