I hope that all of you are well and that your families enjoyed the long weekend. We are excited about the response to contracts and also very excited about the number of new families who are applying to our school. We had 9 new families apply last weekend!

Thanks to all of you who have helped us by reaching out to friends and sharing the story of our school. It is encouraging to see new families want to join our school community and become a part of our extended family. As well, if you haven’t returned your contract, please do so as soon as possible. We are already filling up certain grades and sections and do not want anyone to lose their spot.

The students are doing a wonderful job, and we are proud of their many accomplishments this school year. I have been so impressed by the students at our school.

Upper School Review

BY STEPHANIE WEHRER With the Presidents’ Day holiday on Monday, we have had a short week on campus.

But that sure doesn’t mean less has happened with one less day! Ms. Vego’s dual enrollment U.S. History class just learned about the Great Depression, and the events that occured to usher in that low period during our nation’s history. This week they were introduced to the presidential election of 1932, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the New Deal platform that helped to get him elected. It was particularly interesting to see our junior students learning about how many of the “alphabet soup” programs established by FDR’s administration are still active and functioning today…specifically the TVA right here in our home state, that helped to provide electricity to many regions that had not previously been able to have it.

Thi s cl ass has been l earni ng about the heart, lungs, and the ci rcul ati on of bl ood throughout the human body. Duri ng the di ssecti on, students were tasked wi th i denti fyi ng speci fi c parts of the organ and charti ng the di recti on of blood fl ow. For any students that are pl anni ng to pursue a career i n the healthcare fi eld, l abs and hands-on acti vi ti es l i ke thi s one are so val uabl e!

Ms. Mi l l i can’ s 6th Grade Worl d Hi story cl asses took a l i ttl e ti me thi s week to reflect on some phrases that Confuci us was credi ted wi th teachi ng. Students were asked to thi nk about what the phrases or quotes meant, and i f they could be used or appli ed i n thei r l i ves today. I t was a great opportuni ty for students to reflect upon examples from the past and how they can sti l l be rel evant even so many years later.

Lower School Review

BY SUSAN CRANFORD Tuesday (2/22/22), officially known as “twosday” was a big hit in the elementary. Several classes took advantage of this once in a lifetime date and had fun activities and even some fun outfits. We had ties, tutus and tiaras in PreK 3 and PreK 4. We had Mickey and Minnie for “Oh Twodles” day and 90’s attire for a “Two Legit to Quit” theme in our PreK 2 classes. Fourth grade did lots of fun activities surrounding the number two. Our teachers make learning so much FUN every single week!

Please remember the guidelines for hair styles.

The handbook states the following. Hair styles shall reflect a neat, well groomed appearance at all times. Extreme types of haircuts and colors are not permitted. Hair color must not deviate beyond the normal ranges of natural hair color. Male students’ hair must not hang below the collar, touch the eyebrows, or extend below the middle of the ear.

Male students must not have facial hair and must be clean shaven each day. If students are not sure whether or not a style is appropriate for TRA, they should ask an administrator.

We are gearing up for Grandparents’ Day next Friday, March 4, 2022. We will have a parent preview day on Thursday, March 3. Friday is for Grandparents only.

We are experiencing a large number of students who have fever, throwing up, etc. Please remember that students must be fever free, vomiting and diarrhea free for at least 24 hours (without medication) in order to return to school. This is for the safety of others and to lesson the spreading of these illnesses.
