Dhingra, would head a oneman commission to probe the grant of licences to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra’s company and other firms for developing commercial properties in Gurgaon’s Sector 83. An official spokesman said here that the commission would also probe their subsequent transfer or disposal, allegations of private enrichment, ineligibility of beneficiaries under the rules, and other connected matters.

“Issues concerning public importance related to the grant of licenses and alleged illegalities have come to the notice of the state government,” the spokesman said. Vadra’s company had, after obtaining licence for developing commercial property quickly, had sold off the same land to realty major DLF for a whopping Rs.58 crore, thus making a profit of Rs.43 crore. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had pointed out that Vadra’s firm, Skylight Hospitality, had not submitted documents on financial adequacy. Despite that, the firm was granted a licence.

Modi appears with Chinese premier Li Keqiang, standing in front of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Last year, during his trip to Australia, Modi posted a selfie with his “friend” and Australian counterpart Tony Abbott. The selfie signed by the two leaders was taken at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Modi made his first visit after becoming the Prime Minister to Bastar region’s strife-torn Dantewada district on May 9. He spent a few hours with tribal children in areas affected by left wing extremism and launched two major development

Photos taken at the time show Kataria, an IAS officer of the 2004 batch from the Chhattisgarh cadre, was wearing a bright blue shirt and sporting sunglasses when he received the Prime Minister along with Chief Minister Raman Singh.By the time he saw off Modi, Kataria had changed into a white shirt with black stripes and still had his sunglasses on. Devsenapathi was seen wearing a white shirt in Modi’s presence. The letters, copies of which were accessed by Hindustan Times, were sent to the

two officers on May 13 by the special secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD). “It has come to the notice of the government that you were not wearing formal attire when you received the honourable Prime Minister and that you received him while wearing sunglasses,” said the letter sent to Kataria. The letter sent to Devsenapathi, an IAS officer of the 2007 batchfrom the Chhattisgarh cadre, only said he had not worn formal attire while welcoming the Prime Minister.

Study: 4 eggs/week reduce Type 2 Diabetes risk

Consuming 4 eggs per week can keep Type 2 diabetes – Diabetes Mellitus at bay, claims a new study by the researchers at the University of Eastern Finland. According to the research, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, eggs rich in cholesterol can reduce Type 2 diabetes risk by almost 40 percent. Scientists believe that the nutrients in the egg improves sugar metabolism and also dampen down inflammation that leads to chronic illness. Research has shown that lifestyle habits, such as exercise and nutrition, play a crucial role in the development of the disease. In some studies, high-cholesterol diets have been associated with disturbances in glucose metabolism and risk of type 2 diabetes. In contrast, in some experimental studies, the consumption of eggs has led to improved glucose balance, among other things. However, there is no experimental data available on the effects of egg consumption on the incidence of type 2 diabetes. In population-based studies, too, the association between egg consumption and type 2 diabetes has been investigated only scarcely, and the findings have been inconclusive. Egg consumption has either been associated with an elevated risk, or no association has been found. The dietary habits of 2,332 men aged between 42 and 60 years were assessed at the baseline of the Kuopio Ischaemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study, KIHD, at the University of Eastern Finland in 1984–1989. During a follow-up of 19.3 years, 432 men were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The study found that egg consumption was associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes as well as with lower blood glucose levels. Men who ate approximately four eggs per week had a 37 per cent lower risk of type 2 diabetes than men who only ate approximately one egg per week. This association persisted even after possible confounding factors such as physical activity, body mass index, smoking and consumption of fruits and vegetables were taken into consideration. The consumption of more than four eggs did not bring any significant additional benefits. A possible explanation is that unlike in many other populations, egg consumption in Finland is not strongly associated with unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, low physical activity or consumption of processed meats. In addition to cholesterol, eggs contain many beneficial nutrients that can have an effect on, for example, glucose metabolism and low-grade inflammation, and thus lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. The study also suggests that the overall health effects of foods are difficult to anticipate based on an individual nutrient such as cholesterol alone. Indeed, instead of focusing on individual nutrients, nutrition research has increasingly focused on the health effects of whole foods and diets over the past few years.

Switzerland commits to cooperate in India’s black money fight

Agency : New Delhi Committing its support to India’s fight against the black money menace, Switzerland today said its Parliament will soon consider changes in laws to look into the possibility of sharing information in cases being probed on the basis of stolen data of Swiss bank accounts. To consider providing ‘administrative assistance’ to foreign countries, which would include India, in such cases, a proposal would be moved in the Swiss Parliament in the second half of this year, Switzerland’s Economic Affairs Minister Johann N Schneider Ammann said here today. Ammann, who is in India on a three-day visit, said Switzerland is sensitive to the fact that the issue of black money is very important for India and needs to be resolved. “Switzerland has decided to follow international standards, including those framed by OECD, in sharing information

and providing assistance to foreign countries probing such cases, but we have to ask our Parliament to make changes in our laws,” he said at a select media briefing. Ammann said the Swiss government is committed to resolve this issue and the Federal Council, the apex decision making body in Switzerland (equivalent to Cabinet in India), has decided to provide a ‘clarification’ to the Parliament on legal situation on administrative assistance in cases of stolen data. When asked whether the new black money law passed in India would have ramifications for Swiss banks, the Minister said it was too early to talk about that as the procedures and the law itself first needs to be understood.

Cricket Australia and the International Cricket Council said they had not been advised of the venture, but a CA spokesman told AAP it could be a positive way to promote and grow the game in new or emerging markets - as long as it didn’t poach contracted international players. Lee’s manager Neil Maxwell confirmed his client had received an

It means Lee could potentially return to the field only a few months after calling time on his professional career, though the Test quick retired from the international game in 2012.

If it comes to fruition, the Cricket All Stars League could affect some domestic Twenty20 competitions such as the BBL and Indian Premier League, which often include former international cricketers. Former South Africa coach Mickey Arthur expresses interest in England coaching role

Agency : Johannesburg Former South African and Australian coach Mickey Arthur has expressed his interest of being the next coach for England. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are looking to appoint a successor of Peter Moores, who was sacked by the newly appointed England’s Cricket director Andrew Strauss. Arthur said that he would certainly have a conversation with ECB as it was a wonderful opportunity, Sport24 reported. He insisted that the England team is looking for leadership and direction and anyone who could do that right would have a good chance of success. Meanwhile, there are re-

bowled a grand total of 40 balls in the entire tournament, picking up just one wicket. So what does he do? He dismissed Yusuf Pathan, who was wellset on 52, with the very first ball. A horrible Malinga mis-field and a few wild swings from Piyush Chawla later, Mumbai Indians won a thriller of a match at the Wankhede by five runs. More impor-

tantly, Rohit’s men live to fight another day. In a way, Rohit’s hand was forced. With 21 required from the last two overs, he had no option but to go to his best bowler like captains almost always do. With Malinga finishing his quota, his other options were the young Hardik Pandya or the even younger Jagdeesh Suchith.

Agency : Mumbai The Indian squad for next month’s tour of Bangladesh is to be picked by the national cricket selection panel headed by Sandeep Patil here on May 20. “The meeting to select the Indian team for the tour of Bangladesh featuring one Test and three One-Day Internationals would be held at the Cricket Centre on May 20,” Cricket Board

sources told on Friday. India are to play a oneoff Test at Fatullah from June 10-14 and then will engage hosts Bangladesh in a best-of-three ODI series from June 18-24. All the ODI matches are scheduled to be played at Mirpur on June 18, 21 and 24 with a reserve day penciled in. With MS Dhoni having already announced his retirement from Test cricket, it is

expected that Virat Kohli - who led the squad in Australia after Dhoni’s announcement at the conclusion of the third Test at Melbourne - will be named as the Test captain. However, there are news reports that Kohli, along with a few other senior cricketers, has asked the BCCI to be rested for the tour. Meanwhile, the BCCI’s technical committee headed by Anil Kumble is to meet here on May 19 to take a call on the proposed changes in the domestic circuit for the next season. In its bid to push for more results in Ranji matches, the BCCI technical committee has proposed a few changes in the points format and the number of overs bowled per day in the premier domestic tournament.

Agency : Lahore The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reaffirmed that the tour by the Zimbabwe team was still on as per schedule and they would reach Lahore on Tuesday. The chief operating officer of the board, Subhan Ahmad said they had received no information from the Zimbabwe board about the cancellation of the tour. “The tour is on and we are proceeding ahead with our preparations as planned,” he said. Confusion reigned late last night when first, Cricket Zimbabwe announced they had opted out of the short tour because of security apprehensions following an attack in Karachi

on the Ismaili community in which 46 people were killed. But half an hour later the Zimbabwe officials retracted their statement, saying they were still discussing the matter as the PCB had reassured them that foolproof security would be given to the team during their stay in Lahore. PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan later told

PTI that while the Zimbabwean government had advised its cricket board to call off the tour but it was keen to go ahead and was discussing the matter with players and security experts. Sources said that the PCB had used foreign office channels to convince the Zimbabwean board that their players would be safe in Lahore.

Agency : Wellington Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Renegades have signed West Indian big-hitter Chris Gayle on a oneyear deal. Gayle will return to the Australian T20 league after choosing to instead play in the Ram Slam T20 in South Africa over the last two years. The 35-year-old is considered by many as the greatest T20 player since the inception of the format in the noughties. He is the only batsman to have scored over 7000 runs in T20 cricket and has done so at an average of 42.06 and a strike-rate of 147.59. The Tribunal ruled that the GERC had wrongly revised the RPOs for different distribution companies as per their actual purchases inconsistent with the prescribed percentage. Also,
