Ross Lila Bobick has always loved buildings. She became enamored by their golden doors, elevators and the verandas. It is her eternal love affair. “I remember going to the magnificent buildings in old downtown Bogota accompanying my father to the bank,” Miss Bobick said. “I could never forget that building and when I visited New York City for the first time, it struck me. The resemblance was incredible.” Now she does real estate for a living and she is among the best. She has emerged as one of the most professional, dedicated and educated Estate Agents (they are called like that in London were she learned English) providing clients with an unrivaled amount of knowledge and expertise in the area of both real-estate and law’s backround. What is unique about Miss Bobick is that she actually began her career as a Lawyer in Colombia. Having studied law in Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, one of the most prestigious schools in the country (where the majority of the Presidents of Colombia studied), she quickly rose through the ranks and graduated among the top of her class and receiving nominations for the most desired distinctions from her university, one of which was the Colegial Nomination for Excellence.

lawyer is that a good lawyer knows the law and an excellent lawyer knows the judge! That’s where the celebration comes in. After all, the judge is our father!

The upcoming year looks to be more of the same a challenging environment It wasn’t just COVID-19 that shaped the risky 2021 Real Estate Market. The continuous and growing impact of climate change has played a key role in many property owner’s risk profiles over the last decade and are hitting the U.S. harder than ever before. Wildfires, coupled with an unexpected deep freeze in Texas, ate up a significant portion of property insurance capacity. Hurricane Ida alone packed a $25 Billion punch. Unfortunately, a “return to normal” for the Real Estate Industry is not yet in sight. And who knows what the “new normal” may be. Instead, the upcoming year looks to be more of the same - a challenging environment that will require real estate owners and operators to use experience and tools to take as much control of their risk as possible and shape their risk story to worried insurance carriers. As they take on this challenge, here is what Real Estate owners and operators in South Florida can expect in 2022. Catastrophic weather will continue to impact insurance COVID-19, Page 4A

Flipping Through History The Broward County Library Helps Us Learn From Our Past If you interested in a bit of local history or just to see how much a supermarket item costs 50 years ago, check out the site “Those that do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” Those words were first spoken by George Santayana and they are still very relevant today because of how true they are. History gives us the opportunity to learn from past mistakes. It helps us understand the many reasons why people may behave the way they do. As a result, it helps us become more compassionate as people and more impartial as decision makers. It goes without saying that change can be a difficult concept to understand and in today’s world change is happening at a rapid pace. Each of us has a dif-
Happy New Year By Rabbi Moishe Kievman - Chabad Chayil
Although Jewish People celebrate the actual New Year on Rosh Hashanah, which commemorates the creation of the world, the rest of the world celebrates New Year’s Eve at this time of year. So if people are happy and celebrating, let’s of course be happy and celebrate! But perhaps the world has a thing or two to learn about how to truly celebrate. After all, another year has passed, and…? In other words, just because another year passed, therefore we drink champagne? What did we do to earn happiness and celebrations? Is it something we get to do, just for existing? Actually, Jewish People also drink champagne and celebrate
on Rosh Hashanah, but it first comes with making a true evaluation of the past year. We must ask ourselves which areas in life we did right and in which areas we need improvement. We then make good resolutions for the coming year. Not just resolutions to exercise and eat more healthily (which we of course should), but also resolutions on how to be there for others. Resolutions to make the world a better place for everyone. And then of course we also celebrate, with faith and trust that Gd will grant us a good year. So Rosh Hashanah is actually a very serious day. It’s the court case in which the entire year is judged. It’s a day we spend praying and connecting with G-

ferent experience than the rest of our fellow citizens – an experience shaped by societal norms, cultural differences, personal experiences and more. History helps us better understand how, when and why change occurs on a larger scale. Good citizens are always informed citizens, and no one can consider himself to be an informed citizen without a working knowledge of history. This is the case whether we’re talking about our role in our local community or in regards to our nation on the whole. History helps us become better voters and more effective members of any type of society. It helps put us in a position to better inform others as well. It is in this spirit that The Broward County Library is working to help residents learn from
the past with the Broward County Library Digital Archives project. The BCL Digital Archives project supports communitybased and scholarly research on a variety of topics that range from a global scope to the scale of local neighborhoods. The BCL Digital Archives collections contain thousands of select images, audio, and video files that represent just a small portion of the material holdings in the three Special Collections areas. Here are a few of the collections available online.
“We pray and believe and trust and hope that G-d will grant us another year. But this year, we will keep to our old resolutions and of course make new resolutions on how to make the world a better place for everyone.” Rabbi Moishe Kievman
