YuleLaughOutLoud! Comedy Show Brings Big Laughs To Boca This Christmas

This Thursday, December 25th, trade in your egg rolls and kung pao chicken for belly laughs and witty punchlines at the Yule Laugh Out Loud! Comedy Show, a one-night-only comedy event at the Boca Black Box that promises a hilarious twist on your typical Christmas night out.

Headlining the evening is the ever-charismatic Avi Liberman, a stand-up favorite whose blend of global upbringing, offbeat delivery and razor-sharp observational humor has left audiences roaring coast to coast. But he’s not coming alone. Liberman will be joined by a cast of “funny friends” — a curated crew of Jewish comedians bringing their best material and brightest energy to the stage for a holiday comedy celebration like no other.

Why Sit at a Buffet When You Can Be in the Front Row?

For many in the Jewish community, Christmas Day has traditionally meant Chinese food and a movie. But the Yule Laugh Out Loud! Comedy Show* flips that familiar routine on its head, offering a new, laugh-filled tradition in a warm, welcoming and wildly funny atmosphere.

“This show is more than just a night of comedy,” says the event’s organizer. “It’s a shared experience - a chance for people to come together, laugh together and celebrate the season in a way that feels both familiar and fresh.”

And the best part? Every ticket comes with a FREE Chanukah candle, a small nod to tradition that pairs perfectly with the evening’s holiday cheer.

The Comedy of Avi Liberman: A Voice You Know, a Story You’ll Love

Avi Liberman isn’t just a comedian; he’s a comedic force of nature. Born in Israel and raised in Texas, with college years spent in New York and a career based in Los Angeles, Liberman’s comedy is infused with the multicultural flavor of his life journey. His act is a dynamic mix of character-driven sketches, satirical social commentary and universal truths told through the lens of a globe-trotting Jewish-American.

If you think you recognize him, you probably do. Liberman has appeared on CBS’s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and Make Me Laugh and NBC’s Friday Night. He’s been featured in hit TV shows like Dave’s World, Boston Common, Andytown U.S.A. and he’s been a regular voice on radio programs across the country.

He’s also no stranger to live audiences. In addition to touring extensively in the U.S., Liberman is the Founder and organizer of the Comedy for Koby tour, a bi-annual charity event that brings American comedians to Israel to perform while supporting the Koby Mandell Foundation. Since 2001, the tour has uplifted audiences and boosted morale across the region—all while raising money for an important cause.

The Yule Laugh Out Loud! Comedy Show is about more than jokes—it’s about community, tradition and turning an otherwise quiet night into a shared celebration of light and laughter. Whether you’re flying solo, bringing your family, or rounding up

Rally Against Pakistan-Sponsored Islamic Terrorism, Urge Global Accountability

On Sunday May 4th, 2025 a diverse crowd of Hindu and Jewish community members gathered at the Torch of Friendship in Downtown Miami for a peaceful rally to honor the 26 victims of the brutal Islamic Terrorist Attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22nd, 2025. Organized by the Kashmir Solidarity Foundation and supported by the Hindu American Political Action Committee of Florida (HAPAC of FL), Hindu American Foundation (HAF), Gummakonda Reddy Foundation, HinduAction, Dharmansh USA, and Kashmir Solidarity USA, the rally unequivocally condemned Pakistan-sponsored Islamic Terrorism and called for decisive global action.

The rally’s objectives were to:

• Educate South Florida communities about the atrocities in Kashmir.

• Raise awareness among political leaders about the threat of Islamic Terrorism in India and the world.

• Unite communities worldwide suffering from Radical Terrorism, including Jewish, Druze, Yazidi, Christian and other targeted groups.

• Express solidarity with all victims of such violence and reject media narratives that obscure, deny or equivocate these acts.

• Urge the U.S. Government to strengthen partnerships with India to combat Terrorism.

• Expose Pakistan as the epicenter of Islamic Terrorism and demand accountability for its decades-long support of violent extremism.

Participants stood in solidarity, condemning the attack perpetrated by The Resistance Front, a proxy of the Pakistan-backed Lashkar-eTaiba. The rally honored not only the Pahalgam victims but also countless others globally affected by Islamic Terrorism. Attendees observed a moment of silence, prayed for the grieving families and heard impassioned remarks from community leaders.

The event concluded with a keynote address by Florida Congressional Nominee Joe Kaufman, who delivered a powerful call to action: “The 26 lives lost in Pahalgam were stolen in a sacred place of peace by terrorists backed by Pakistan’s military and intelligence services. This was not an isolated act—it is part of a global pattern of Islamic Terrorism that threatens Hindus, Jews and all who cherish freedom. We demand that the United States, India, and the international community hold Pakistan accountable and dismantle the networks fueling this violence.”

The rally sent an unequivocal message to leaders in the U.S., India, and around the world: Islamic Terrorism must be confronted without hesitation, and Pakistan’s role as a state sponsor of terror can no longer be ignored. The Hindu and Jewish Communities of South Florida stand united in their resolve to seek justice and build a safer future.

TheNecessityOf GoldenDome MissileDefense System

Calling the Golden Dome missile defense shield an “insurance policy” to protect the United States from an enemy attack, William R. Forstchen, Ph.D., is advocating for widespread national support to move the project from concept to reality.

“Israel has an effective tactical defense system known as the Iron Dome, which shoots down missiles in the final seconds before impact,” Forstchen explained. “A Golden Dome, by comparison, is a strategic defense system that would neutralize ballistic missiles in space before they get near the U.S. It’s a nobrainer to me. We need a strategic defense system.”

Forstchen has provided guidance to federal, state and local governments, as well as private organizations, on the potential widespread impact of an EMP event. A sought-after speaker, Forstchen has shared his expertise at conferences across the United States, educating audiences on the critical need for preparedness.

Citing the country’s already vulnerable energy grid, Forstchen said an EMP attack would wipe out power and set off a cascade of deadly events. The first necessity people would lose is water, followed by food supply and medication. Then, disease would set in. Long-term survival, he added, would depend on being in the right place at the right time with the right food supply.

“I believe the threat of America being hit by an EMP weapon is the single greatest danger to our survival,” Forstchen said. “Electricity is the fundamental building block of our society. Everything is predicated on electrification.”

An EMP causes widespread cataclysmic damage to power grids due to what’s called the Compton effect, he explained.

“An electromagnetic pulse is the byproduct of detonating a nuclear weapon. When a nuclear weapon is detonated 200 to 250 miles above the earth, the gamma ray bursts when it hits the

upper atmosphere sets off the Compton effect. In essence, a giant electrostatic discharge hits the earth’s surface and wipes out electronic devices as well as entire power grids, leaving affected areas in the dark,” he said.

Forstchen has written extensively about the devastating impact of EMP strikes, beginning with his New York Times bestseller, One Second After, which offers a realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second.

One Second After spawned three sequels, each of which is a fictional exploration rooted in the cold, solid facts of how an EMP strike above U.S. soil would impact society.

One Second After is being adapted into an MPI Original Film (Motherland, Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game) in association with Startling Inc. (Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon). The feature film is penned by legendary sci-fi screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling, Sense8, Jeremiah, Babylon 5), with Forstchen serving as an executive producer.

TheAmazingSportsImmortalsMuseum

Welcome to Keller’s Korner. Today we are going to tell you about the Sports Immortals Museum located in Boca Raton, founded by Joel Platt. This museum has become one of the top attractions in South Florida for the last 30 years for people who love sports.

World renowned collector Joel Platt founded the Sports Immortals museum in 1995. Joel is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and a recent nominee for the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in Israel.

I have known for years about Joel and his amazing collection of over one million mementos from the world’s greatest athletes. When I moved to South Florida four years ago, I visited Sports Immortals a few times and I love talking to Joel and his son Jim. It is a fascinating place which features rotating displays that will leave you wanting to come back. There is also a retail store offering a selection of over 20,000 unique and rare sports items to purchase. His most priceless items are kept in out-of-State security vaults.

Going to the Sports Immortals Museum will be an experience people will treasure forever.

Joel’s inspirational story began in 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the young age of four years old when he was injured in a gasoline explosion at his uncle’s car dealership. Joel was hospitalized and bedridden for over a year and his parents would bring him baseball cards to entertain him during his recovery period. His favorite cards were Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. One night in the hospital Joel had a dream that Babe Ruth visited him and said, “Kid don’t give up, you can get better and one day be a major league baseball player or build a hall of fame to honor sports heroes.”

Once Joel recovered, he set his life on those two goals. He became an outstanding shortstop at the University of Duquesne but injured his arm prior to signing with the Boston Red Sox. With his major league dream ending Joel concentrated on his other goal to curate the mementos from sports legends and build an attraction that would honor and enshrine the world’s greatest athletes. To accomplish this goal, Joel has traveled over one million miles over a 75 year period to curate over one million mementos. Joel’s collection has been recognized by the Smithsonian Institution as “the largest collection on all sports in the world.” Just a few items to mention include the famous T206 Honus Wagner baseball card, a game used autographed bat from Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig’s first baseman glove, and all of Jim Thorpe’s mementos including his trophies, traditional Native American clothing, and Carlisle Indians football uniform.

Of the many famous athletes Joel has met, he said his favorite was Muhummad Ali. He met him six times and explained, “Each meeting was a monumental experience. Ali treated everyone like they were the champion, and he was the fan.” Joel added, “Ali

gave me so many items that I could open a Muhummad Ali museum.

Joel added that his favorite Jewish athlete was former Hall of Fame Quarterback Sid Luckman. Joel said, “Sid was a great player and a wonderful person.” Luckman’s mother attended her first game in 1943 when the Chicago Bears played the New York Giants. Inspired by her presence Sid set a record by throwing 7 touchdown passes and dedicated the game ball to his mother. This football was Sid’s most prized possession and when he passed away he left the ball to his good friend Joel Platt for the Sports Immortals Museum.

While amassing such a collection took decades, Joel said his

greatest acquisition came in 1970 when he obtained all of Jim Thorpe’s mementos from his wife Patricia.

The items included Jim’s Carlisle Indians jersey, trophies, medals, helmets and his 1912 Olympic album containing an original letter from President William Taft congratulating Jim on his gold medal victories in the Decathlon and Pentathlon events at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden. Jim Thorpe is recognized as the greatest all around athlete of all time. In addition to being an Olympic champion, he is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and played major league baseball.

Joel and his son Jim’s ultimate goal is to establish the Sports Immortals International Hall of Fame Complex that will utilize his famous collection in conjunction with today’s latest. Immersive experiential technology to bring the world’s greatest athletes to life to tell their stories and inspire visitors of all ages to achieve success and realize their dreams. Joel said “he wants to make enshrinement of Sports Immortals the greatest honor achievable in sports.” I asked Joel, is there anything you do not have? He replied, “We are always looking to acquire rare historical sports items and collections.” For more information on Sports Immortals, call: (561) 997-2575. Or visit their website at: www.sportsimmortals.com. The museum is located at 6830 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33487. You cannot miss it as there is a 12 foot statue of Babe Ruth in front.

AnEveningWithMaryMorris, AuthorOf GatewayToTheMoon

On a warm June evening in Coral Gables, a literary crowd will gather at the beloved independent bookstore Books & Books for what promises to be an unforgettable night of storytelling, music and mystery. Acclaimed novelist Mary Morris, celebrated for her evocative prose and rich storytelling, will take center stage to present her latest novel—a lyrical and haunting work that explores family secrets, wartime silence and the redemptive power of art.

Titled Gateway to the Moon, the novel is quintessential Morris: intimate in scale but expansive in its emotional reach. Best known for her award-winning works such as The Jazz Palace and Nothing to Declare, Morris returns with a gripping, layered story that blends the elements of historical fiction, mystery and a deeply personal search for identity. On Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., Morris will read from the novel, discuss her inspirations and reflect on the historical undercurrents that inform the narrative.

The evening will also feature a musical performance by Susana Behar, a renowned Miami-based singer whose work in Sephardic and Latin American folk music weaves beautifully into the novel’s themes of memory, exile and rediscovery. Behar, whose textured vocals and passion for storytelling through song have earned her critical acclaim, will offer a poignant complement to Morris’s prose. Her presence adds a sensory richness to the event—one that mirrors the emotional and historical resonance of the novel itself.

her mother, Viola, three decades earlier. Viola vanished one day without warning, leaving behind only her purse, keys and a collection of eerie paintings featuring a red house—each inscribed with the cryptic message, “I will not be here forever.” This mysterious legacy propels Laura back to Italy, the place of her mother’s early life and the backdrop of long-buried family secrets.

What follows is a moving and suspenseful journey as Laura travels from the coastal town of Brindisi through the Puglia countryside, tracing the fragments of Viola’s life. As she uncovers hidden details of her mother’s past—including her silence about her wartime childhood and her insistence that she was an orphan— Laura begins to see the ways in which history, particularly Italy’s lesser-known experiences during World War II, has shaped her family’s trajectory.

In a recent interview, Morris explained that the story was inspired by both personal and historical curiosities. “I’ve always been fascinated by what we inherit—not just genetically, but emotionally, artistically, historically,” she said. “This novel is about a daughter trying to make sense of the silence her mother left behind. In doing so, she comes to understand not only who her mother was, but who she herself is.”

Indeed, Gateway to the Moon is as much about solving a mystery as it is about grappling with identity and legacy. Morris’s depiction of post-war Italy is textured and immersive, evoking the sensory details of village life and the shadow of conflict that lingers across generations. The novel’s emotional resonance lies in its willingness to explore loss—not only of people, but of memory,

language and connection.

As readers follow Laura north through Naples and Turin, the red house in Viola’s paintings becomes both a literal and metaphorical destination. It is a symbol of the past that cannot be undone but can be understood. Morris’s writing is at once lyrical and grounded, full of psychological depth and historical insight.

The event at Books & Books will offer attendees a rare opportunity to hear directly from Morris about her creative process and the years of research that shaped the novel. With Behar’s music infusing the evening with the emotional tone of the story’s Mediterranean setting, the night promises to be an evocative celebration of art in its many forms.

For those who have followed Mary Morris’s career, this latest novel confirms her as a master of storytelling with a gift for weaving personal drama into the fabric of history. And for new readers, Gateway to the Moon is an invitation into a world where the past is never quite past and where love—though complicated—is the ultimate inheritance.

A Lifesaving Skill For Everyone

Every day, people around us struggle silently with Mental Health or substance use challenges. Whether it’s a colleague showing signs of burnout, a friend battling depression, or a neighbor facing addiction, the signs are often there—but do we know how to respond? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training provides the answer.

On Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Goodman Jewish Family Services is offering a free, one-day Adult Mental Health First Aid course to anyone in the community who wants to learn how to identify, understand, and respond to these critical situations. This hands-on training empowers participants with the tools to make a real difference—and even save lives.

What Is Mental Health First Aid?

Just like CPR teaches you how to respond to a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to support someone experiencing a Mental Health or Substance Use crisis. The training covers everything from recognizing warning signs to providing initial help and guiding the individual toward appropriate support.

Participants receive a three-year national certification as a Mental Health First Aider, equipping them to step in during pivotal moments of need.

Why This Training Matters

The numbers are staggering: nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults lives with a Mental Illness and over 20 million Americans struggle with Substance Use. Despite these figures, stigma and misunderstanding persist, often keeping people from seeking

help.

“MHFA gives people the knowledge and confidence to intervene early,” says a local instructor. “Sometimes, it’s just one conversation that can change the trajectory of someone’s life.”

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, friend, manager, or simply a compassionate neighbor, this training is for you. It equips you to notice when someone is in distress and act responsibly without judgment or fear.

What You’ll Learn

The course is comprehensive, practical and built around real-life scenarios.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Common signs and symptoms of Mental Illness, including Anxiety, Depression and Schizophrenia.

• Warning signs of Substance Use Disorders, such as changes in behavior, mood, or appearance.

• How to approach and assist someone in crisis, including those who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or panic attacks.

• How to connect individuals with appropriate resources, from professional help to peer support networks.

• Expanded content on trauma, addiction and the importance of self-care for both those giving and receiving help.

The backbone of the training is the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan**, also known as ALGEE:

1. Assess for risk of Suicide or harm

2. Listen non-judgmentally

3. Give reassurance and information

4. Encourage appropriate professional help

5. Encourage self-help and other 5. support strategies

ALGEE is not just an acronym—it’s a powerful framework that provides clear steps during emotionally charged situations. By participating in MHFA training, you become part of a growing network of informed and compassionate individuals dedicated to building a more supportive community.

A Community Effort

This upcoming session is more than just a course—it’s a community-building opportunity. You’ll connect with fellow residents who care about Mental Wellness and want to contribute positively to the lives of others.

Goodman Jewish Family Services is proud to offer this training free of charge** as part of their commitment to improving Mental Health Awareness and accessibility in the region. The June 11th training will be held in person from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is open to all adults. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Led by experienced facilitators and supported by Joshua’s Path Disability Services, this workshop offers far more than just basic safety instruction. Creating a Safe Space for Lifesaving Skills

Joshua’s Path is known throughout Broward County and beyond for its commitment to supporting neurodivergent individuals through education, advocacy and personalized services. This workshop reflects that mission by making critical safety education accessible and approachable. The program is led by Sam Salver, a passionate advocate who has worked with neurodivergent adults and their families.

“Too often, people with disabilities are left out of emergency prep conversations. We’re changing that.”

Through engaging, sensory-aware instruction and personalized support, participants will gain essential skills to care for themselves and assist others in times of crisis. From how to safely perform CPR to what to do during a hurricane, each topic is approached with the unique needs of neurodivergent learners in mind.

What the Workshop Covers

The workshop includes a wide range of topics, delivered in digestible sessions over the course of eight days:

CPR and First Aid Certification: Participants will earn certification through accredited instruction, learning how to respond to common injuries, medical emergencies and choking.

Epilepsy Awareness and Training: With epilepsy being more common among individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions, this module teaches participants what to do if they or someone nearby has a seizure.

Home Safety: Tips and strategies to prevent accidents in the kitchen, bathroom and other areas of the home.

Community Safety: How to safely navigate public spaces, interact with first responders and recognize signs of potential danger in everyday situations.

Natural Disaster Preparedness: From hurricanes to floods, participants will be equipped with knowledge and tools to create personal emergency kits and response plans tailored to their needs.

Each session will be hands-on, interactive and paced to support learning retention and comfort.

More Than Just a Workshop

The First Aid and Safety Workshop is just one of the many services offered through Joshua’s Path, a cornerstone program of Goodman JFS. The initiative provides consultations, system navigation assistance and a wealth of educational resources for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

By teaching emergency skills in a respectful and supportive environment, Joshua’s Path continues to live up to its mission: to support, educate and empower. The workshop doesn’t just equip participants with knowledge—it builds community and fosters independence.

The workshop is open to all neurodivergent adults aged 18 and up and while it’s completely free of charge, registration is required. Interested individuals can sign up online at: http:// weblink.donorperfect.com/JPFA25

How “Mix & Mingle” Is Redefining Connection For Adults 50+

In an age where virtual connections have become a staple of modern life, one innovative event is redefining what it means to meet new people—especially for Jewish adults aged 50 and over. Welcome to Mix & Mingle, a dynamic and thoughtfully curated online social gathering designed to help participants make meaningful new connections, all from the comfort of home. But this isn’t your typical Zoom call or standard online mixer. Mix & Mingle offers a fresh twist on virtual socializing, with a format that blends structure and spontaneity, small group interaction, and wide-ranging possibilities— from finding a new friend or activity partner to even sparking a romantic connection.

Organized through Tribester, a leading platform for Jewish social events, Mix & Mingle is crafted for adults who still want to explore new friendships and meaningful connections without the traditional pressures of online dating or the limitations of their local social scene.

“We noticed that many Jewish adults 50 and up wanted a space to connect that wasn’t exclusively about dating,” says the event’s organizer. “They wanted something more relaxed, more inclusive—where they could meet peers, talk openly and maybe discover something or some-

one new.” The answer? A rotating-table format that mimics the best parts of in-person gatherings, minus the stress.

How It Works

When participants log in, they’re welcomed into a user-friendly virtual venue with multiple “conversation tables.” Each table seats a small group, encouraging engaging dialogue in a casual setting. Every 10 minutes, participants are automatically rotated to a new table, creating an ever-evolving social experience that keeps energy high and conversations fresh.

Unlike traditional speed dating, which often limits interaction to potential romantic matches, Mix & Mingle embraces a broader spectrum of connection. There’s no need to worry about perfectly balanced gender ratios or pre-set criteria. Instead, participants get to meet a diverse array of fellow Jews from around the countrymany of whom share similar values, interests and life stages.

“It’s like walking into a party where every corner has someone interesting to talk to,” one recent attendee shared. “And the best part? You’re not stuck in one conversation for too long. There’s always someone new to meet.”

Several key features make Mix & Mingle truly unique:

Small Group Dynamics: With intimate table sizes, every participant gets a chance to speak, listen and be heard—without feeling overwhelmed or overlooked.

Automatic Transitions: The rotating format removes the pressure of starting or ending conversations. Every 10 minutes brings a fresh start with a new group of potential connections.

National Reach: While there’s always the chance of meeting someone local, participants often connect with people across the country, expanding their horizons and community network.

Post-Event Follow-Up: After the event, participants can use a private messaging system and exclusive forum to continue conversations, plan virtual meetups, or simply stay in touch.

Not Just for Daters

Though romantic sparks are always welcome, Mix & Mingle casts a wider net. Many attendees come looking for travel buddies, workout partners, Jewish learning groups, or simply a friendly face to check in with now and then.

“It’s refreshing to join an event where there’s no pressure,” says another participant. “It’s just about meeting good people. And if something more happens—great. If not, I’ve still had a meaningful evening.”

For those less comfortable with technology, the organizers have it covered. Clear, easy-tofollow instructions are provided in advance and tech support is available throughout the event to ensure a seamless experience for all.

Divided Homeland Inspires Author To Build Bridges Through Stories Of Love

Jerusalem-born Author and Entrepreneur

Michael Weiss grew up immersed in an environment where conflict was common, but today, he chooses to focus on universal aspects of the human experience that transcend borders, cultures and languages.

“Whether it’s a tale of forbidden love in a remote village, a modern romance navigating the complexities of urban life or a historical love story set against the backdrop of changing societal norms, my books reflect the infinite shades of love,” Weiss said.

His first book, A Thousand Gates of Prayer, transports readers to the tranquil beauty of Hakone, Japan, where ancient shrines guard misty hillsides and every path feels touched by spirit. A forbidden love quietly blooms between Miyuki, a young woman deeply rooted in her village’s traditions and Masahiro, heir to a prestigious Kyoto family. As Miyuki and Masahiro’s connection deepens, they find themselves caught between loyalty and longing, tradition and change. When a powerful construction pro-

ject threatens to erase Miyuki’s beloved village, their private romance becomes a public stand. With the help of an intrepid investigative jour nalist, they uncover a trail of corruption far more dangerous than either imagined, forcing them to risk everything—not just for each other, but for a way of life on the verge of vanishing.

For Weiss, the desire to showcase the beauty and resilience of love as it weaves through different cultures doesn’t stop at being an author. He established a publishing house dedicated to global romance fiction and sup porting diverse authors called Timeless Love Publishing.

“Through these diverse and heartfelt stories, I aim not just to entertain, but to inspire, heal and build bridges of empathy across continents,” Weiss said.

His second book, Sunrise Over Numbi Gate, tells the gripping story of Emily, a young American woman whose dream trip to South Africa shatters when she’s kidnapped during a safari with her father and brother. Held captive

Laughs,Logic,AndALittleMath: Comedy Night With Matthew Broussard At The Hub

On the evening of Thursday, June 26th, prepare to trade spreadsheets for punchlines and equations for absurdities, as Comedy Night with Matthew Broussard* brings brainy laughs to The Hub’s Frankel Family Performing Arts Center. Known for his razor-sharp wit, self-deprecating charm, and more academic references than your average Netflix special, Broussard is not your typical stand-up comedian—and that’s exactly what makes his comedy so magnetic.

A former financial analyst turned nationally touring comedian, Matthew Broussard’s career detour reads like the setup to one of his jokes. The son of a Cajun chemist and a Jewish microbiologist, Broussard grew up fluent in sarcasm and science. He graduated with a degree in computational mathematics—a fact he manages to mention onstage more often than you’d expect (or want), and yet, you’ll be glad he did.

His comedy is an unexpected fusion of the intellectual and the absurd. One moment he’s explaining Greek mythology using pop culture analogies; the next, he’s poking fun at his own modeling headshots. Broussard’s style is as likely to make you think as it is to make you laugh, offering a uniquely heady blend of logic and lunacy. He’s the only comic who might leave you Googling a math joke on the ride home—and laughing about it all the same.

If you recognize Broussard’s chiseled jawline and boyish grin from your TV screen, it’s probably because you’ve seen him on

The Tonight Show, Conan, Comedy Central’s The Half Hour, or verbally duking it out on Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle. He’s also appeared in hit shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Mindy Project, and The League. On the big screen, he shared scenes with Billy Crystal and Tiffany Haddish in Here Today. And in the digital space, he’s the creator of Monday Punday, a clever, pundriven webcomic and puzzle app that’s basically what would happen if a dad joke got an arts degree.

The Thursday, June 26th show takes place at The Hub, Pinecrest’s beloved cultural epicenter. Known for its multifaceted offerings, The Hub isn’t just a performing arts venue—it’s also home to an instructional pool, athletic facilities, a youth lounge, and even the cozy Top Nosh Café. Whether you’re in it for community, culture, or comedy, The Hub offers it all under one roof.

“Matthew Broussard is the perfect blend of smart and silly,” said a concert-goer. “He’s got this incredible way of making complex ideas feel funny and relatable. We’re so excited to have him in the area — it’s going to be a night people talk about for a long time.”

The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $28 for premium seating and $18 for standard seats. Refreshingly, there’s no drink minimum—so the only thing you’re obligated to consume is laughter. Light bites and beverages will be available for purchase beginning at 6:30 p.m. before the show.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like if a mathlete joined the comedy circuit, this is your chance to find out. Broussard doesn’t just tell jokes—he deconstructs them, rebuilds them, and adds a graph. Whether you’re a comedy connoisseur or someone who just likes a good pun, you’ll leave the show feeling a little smarter—and a lot more amused.

So grab your tickets, grab a friend, and come experience the wonderfully weird, weirdly educational world of Matthew Broussard. Your brain might thank you. Your abs definitely will.

LaughOutLoudThisSummerAtComedyNightWithMichaelPalascak

If your summer plans are still missing that one unforgettable night of laughter, look no further. On Thursday, July 17th, 2025, The Hub: Frankel Family Performing Arts Center in Pinecrest, Florida will transform into a comedy hotspot for Comedy Night with Michael Palascak—an evening guaranteed to leave you grinning ear to ear.

Whether you’re a die-hard stand-up fan or simply in need of a pick-me-up, Michael Palascak’s comedic charm and relatable storytelling will hit the sweet spot. With premium and standard seating options priced at $28 and $18 respectively—and no drink minimum—it’s the perfect low-key night out that delivers big-time laughs.

A Comedy Star with Heart

Michael Palascak’s rise in the comedy world has been both impressive and refreshingly grounded. Hailing from Indiana and now based in Los Angeles, Palascak has built a career on sharp writing, clean delivery, and what many describe as his “everyman” appeal. In an industry often defined by edge or cynicism, Palascak stands out for his sincere, upbeat, and irresistibly funny takes on everyday life.

He’s no stranger to the spotlight—having appeared on virtually every late-night platform worth its punchlines. From The Late Late Show with James Corden to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Letterman, Conan, Craig Ferguson, The Tonight Show, and A Little Late with Lilly Singh, Palascak’s resume reads like a bucket list of comedy milestones. His Comedy Central Half Hour special introduced his quirky yet polished humor to a national audience, and his Top 5 finish on Last Comic Standing earned him praise from judges and fans alike.

One judge summed it up perfectly: “This is a guy that could star in a sitcom.”

Fresh Material, Familiar Vibes

Palascak’s comedy is the perfect balance of witty and wholesome, smart without being snarky. His latest stand-up album, The Internet Live, was released through comedy powerhouse 800 Pound Gorilla, while his recent Dry Bar special, 1984, is available to stream for free. If you’re curious what makes him stand out, check out either project—you’ll likely find yourself laughing at situations that feel plucked from your own life.

Even critics agree that Palascak brings something different to the mic. Drew Hunt of The Chicago Reader called him “an antidote to the unbridled cynicism that pervades much of contemporary stand-up.” That sense of optimism carries over into his newest project with National Lampoon: The Bright Side, a YouTube series where Palascak explores positive perspectives on life’s tougher topics. It’s a refreshing dose of humor with heart— and one more reason not to miss him live.

The Hub: More Than Just a Venue

Hosting the evening’s festivities is The Hub: Frankel Family Performing Arts Center, a cornerstone of community life in Pinecrest. This isn’t your average event space. It’s a vibrant cultural campus that includes everything from an outdoor life center and athletic facility to a library, café, chapel, and youth lounge. Whether you’re attending a swim class, catching a concert, or just grabbing a bite at the Top Nosh Café, The Hub is where connection happens.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., for Comedy Night, with light bites

and beverages available for purchase before the show. It’s the kind of setting where people gather not just for entertainment, but for shared experiences—and in a world that could always use a little more laughter, Palascak is the perfect fit.

In a summer filled with movie premieres, streaming binges, and Social Media scrolling, nothing compares to the energy of a live comedy show. Michael Palascak doesn’t just tell jokes—he builds a bond with his audience, turning ordinary moments into uproarious punchlines. Whether you’re bringing a date, your best friend, or just flying solo, you’ll walk away with sore cheeks and a lighter heart.

Tribester’sSwipeIRLHappyHour:Experience 360° Of Jewish Connection

The world of dating has evolved. It’s no longer just about meeting up with someone in person, hoping for a spark to ignite. Nowadays, digital matchmaking apps like Tinder and Hinge have become the go-to tools for connecting with potential partners. But what happens when you combine the best aspects of these apps with the magic of an in-person event? You get Tribester’s Swipe IRL Happy Hour—an innovative fusion of technology and face-to-face interaction designed to make the Jewish dating scene more exciting, meaningful and accessible. Whether you’re look ing for love or simply wanting to meet like-minded people, this unique event has something for everyone.

What is Swipe IRL?

Swipe IRL is an exclusive, in-person event held at a trendy Miami venue that brings together Jewish professionals aged 2145 for a Happy Hour experience unlike any other. It’s where the convenience and efficiency of online dating meet the magic of meeting someone in real life. You’ll be able to connect digitally before even stepping foot at the event, browse attendee profiles and use AI-powered recommendations to identify potential matches. By the time the event kicks off on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, you’ll already know who you’re interested in talking to—making for a much smoother, more meaningful experience once you walk through the door.

How Does It Work?

Getting started with Swipe IRL is easy. The process blends the digital world of dating apps with the warmth of a physical event:

1. Create Your Profile

Once you purchase your ticket, you’ll gain access to a private platform where you can create a profile that highlights your personality, interests, and what you’re looking for. This isn’t about swiping left or right on a screen—this is about showcasing the authentic you.

2. Discover & Connect

Before the event, you’ll be able to browse attendee profiles. Thanks to AI, the platform will highlight people who share your interests, values and personality traits. This way, you’ll already have a list of potential connections when you arrive at the event.

3. Connect In Real Life

The magic happens at the Swipe IRL Happy Hour. The event will take place at an exclusive Miami hotspot (the location is revealed only to ticket holders for a little added mystery and exclusivity). With the pressure of traditional “speed dating” removed, you’ll be free to mingle, chat, and make connections naturally.

4. Missed Connections Solved

Didn’t get to speak to someone you had your eye on? Don’t worry. After the event, you can reconnect through the platform, ensuring no missed opportunities. Whether you were too shy to approach or just didn’t get the chance, the platform makes sure you’re not left wondering “what if?”

It’s More Than Just a Happy Hour

Picture this: You walk into a lively Miami venue filled with Jewish professionals from all walks of life. It’s not just another bar scene or networking event—this is a curated experience designed to foster real connections. The pre-event profiles mean that when

you arrive, you’re not just aimlessly trying to meet new people. You already have a sense of who might be a good match, which allows you to dive into conversations more naturally and with confidence.

The event combines the best of both worlds: the excitement of meeting new people in person and the ease of knowing who you’ll vibe with before you even step into the room. It’s about creating genuine interactions rather than awkward small talk.

If you’ve ever found yourself at a Jewish networking or dating event only to leave feeling like you didn’t really connect with anyone, Swipe IRL will be a game-changer. You’ll be surrounded by people who share your values and interests and thanks to the AI matchmaking, you’ll know who you have the most in common with.

Event Details

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 16th, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event will take place at a cool Miami venue, though the exact location will be shared exclusively with ticket holders, adding an air of mystery and excitement. The dress code is smart casual, so feel free to look stylish yet comfortable.

This is an intimate event, with a limited number of tickets available to ensure quality interactions and a balanced gender ratio. Expect around 100 attendees, making it the perfect size for meaningful conversations without feeling too crowded.

Ticket Information

There are three ticket types available:

Early Bird: $25 - A limited quantity of early bird tickets are available, offering the best value if you’re quick to sign up.

General Admission: $30 / $35 - Standard tickets are available for those who want to attend and connect with the community. Tickets will not be available at the door, so you’ll need to register in advance to secure your spot. This helps ensure a curated

experience and allows the team to prepare for the right balance of attendees.

In addition to your event ticket, your purchase includes:

• Personal profile on the platform before and after the event, allowing you to connect with attendees.

• Ability to browse and message other participants before and after the event.

• Opportunity to meet new people and possibly find your summer love—or even a new friend!

If you’re tired of the typical bar scene or traditional online dating apps, Swipe IRL offers a fresh, exciting alternative. The curated nature of the event ensures that you’re meeting people who truly share your interests and values, while the AI-powered matchmaking feature takes the guesswork out of figuring out who you’ll click with.

For Jewish professionals, it’s not just about finding a date—it’s about connecting with others who understand the unique cultural and spiritual values you hold dear. It’s a chance to build meaningful relationships in a space where you can truly be yourself, away from the noise of traditional dating apps.

So, what are you waiting for? Secure your spot at **Swipe IRL Happy Hour** and get ready for an unforgettable evening of fun, connections, and maybe even the start of something special. Whether you’re looking for love or just a night of great conversation, you won’t want to miss this chance to experience 360° of Jewish connection in a way you’ve never experienced before.

*Note: The profile creation system will open in early June, so if you reserve your spot before then, be sure to watch your inbox for more details.

The Sterling Aventura opened its doors to the public with a special open house event.

TheSterlingAventuraHoldsAnOpenHouse: A Glimpse Into A Life Of Joy And Purpose

Nestled in the heart of Aventura, The Sterling Aventura is a vibrant and welcoming rental assisted living and memory care community, where residents can thrive in a stimulating and supportive environment. Recently, The Sterling Aventura opened its doors to the public with a special open house event, inviting friends, families, and the community to experience firsthand the warmth and care that defines this remarkable facility.

A New Look for a New Chapter

During the open house, attendees were given an exclusive tour of the newly remodeled Assisted Living. These updated living spaces, including charming studio apartments and the spacious one-bedroom Assisted Living & Memory Care apartments, offer residents a place to call home. The Sterling Aventura also introduced brand-new Penthouse Suites, which provide luxury living in a setting designed for comfort and safety.

One of the standout features of these newly remodeled spaces is the opportunity for person-

alization. Residents have the ability to decorate and arrange their apartments to match their individual preferences, ensuring that their living environment feels like a true extension of themselves.

In addition to the apartments, the community boasts a range of services and amenities designed to cater to every need. Whether it’s assistance with daily activities, engaging in arts and crafts, or enjoying gourmet meals prepared by the community’s talented chef, The Sterling Aventura is dedicated to offering its residents the best in both care and comfort.

The Importance of Memory Care Communities

As we age, the need for specialized care becomes increasingly important. For those living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of Dementia, in-home care may not be the ideal solution. While many seniors express a desire to remain in their homes as long as possible— according to a survey by AARP, over 95% of seniors share this sentiment—the reality is that

managing the needs of a loved one with cognitive challenges can be overwhelming.

This is where memory care communities like The Sterling Aventura shine. Unlike traditional in-home care, which can be difficult to navigate for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other Dementias, The Sterling Aventura offers an environment designed to meet the unique needs of these residents. With around-the-clock staffing, personalized care programs, and a safe, secure environment, residents receive the specialized attention they require to lead a fulfilling life.

For families considering care options for loved ones, the decision between in-home care and memory care can be daunting. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons of each choice, and The Sterling Aventura provides a compelling case for community living.

Cost: While the average cost of 24/7 inhome care can range from $8,000 to $12,000 per month, depending on the level of care required, these expenses do not include the additional costs of homeownership or renting,

such as taxes, utilities, and upkeep. In contrast, monthly costs at The Sterling Aventura range from $3,900 (for assisted Living) and from $5750 for (Memory care).

Socialization & Activities: At home, seniors can often feel isolated, particularly if family members are unable to provide constant companionship. In a community setting like The Sterling Aventura, residents enjoy numerous opportunities to engage with others. The community features a large, open-concept dining room, kitchen, and living areas designed to foster interaction. There is also an arts and crafts studio, where residents can explore their creative side, as well as a full lineup of social, educational, and recreational activities tailored to their interests.

Dining & Nutrition: One of the most significant advantages of life at The Sterling Aventura is the dining experience. While in-home care often involves pre-packaged meals or eating alone, The Sterling Aventura offers residents a

PAWS Whispers of Enchantment: A Night in the Hidden Garden Gala, presented by Spirit Airlines, took place on April 26th at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa. Chairwomen Dawn Dellapina and Danielle Gaudreau, along with their hard-working committee, were thrilled to announce that the magical evening netted a record-breaking $420,000 for the Humane Society of Broward County’s life-saving programs and services.

Champagne awaited the arriving guests, who then stopped for a keepsake photo at the elegantly designed step & repeat. Music by an electric violinist added to the magical atmosphere. The cocktail hour offered Tito’s Handmade Vodka specialty cocktails, delectable appetizers, and an incredible silent auction. Beautifully decorated and nestled among lush garden-inspired decor, the silent auction also broke a Gala record with more than $73,000 raised.

Adding sparkle to the night was the dazzling prize drawing. Melissa Rocker was the lucky winner of an exquisite pair of oneof-a-kind oval blue zircon and diamond earrings by 23-time award-winning designer Robert Pelliccia and generously donated by J.R. Dunn Jewelers.

Upon being welcomed into the enchanted mist-filled ballroom, attendees were greeted with lively tunes from the band Private Stock. There was also a lovely performance by American Heritage School’s Acapella Singers.

Jacey Birch, the honorary emcee, guided the evening’s festivities, which included a delicious dinner and a thrilling live auction led by auctioneer Whitney Dutton. Gala guests were feeling generous, as this auction also set a new record with $104,000 raised!

No enchanted evening would be complete without a fourlegged fairy tale—and this one belonged to Godiva, a lovable English Bulldog whose story touched every guest in the room. Godiva had been left at the shelter because she could no longer be used for breeding, but she found her happily-ever-after in a loving forever home. Inspired by Godiva’s story and after learning more about the shelter’s programs and services, guests took part in the Give from the Heart auction where bid paddles filled the air. Over $71,000 was raised – another milestone moment!

The celebration of an enchanted success carried on throughout the evening, with guests dancing well into the night.
