Nick’s Restaurant hosts Hallandale Beach Chamber Business Network Exchange

On November 18th, the Hallandale Beach Chamber of Commerce held its monthly Business Network Exchange at the popular Nick’s Restaurant in Hallandale Beach. Mardi Gras presents Wes Bowers’ Doctor Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster Band Mardi Gras Casino invites you to come dance your turkey off during Thanksgiving weekend! No longer do we rush to the malls and stores two weeks before the holidays approach, fight the long lines and get those gifts. The process now begins Thanksgiving Day and doesn’t stop until the stores close on Christmas Eve. 59th Annual Candy Cane Parade HOLLYWOOD - Now in its 59th year, the Candy Cane Parade returns to the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “Peppermint Paradise,” and it will bring the holiday spirit to the Broadwalk! The parade begins on the Broadwalk at Scott Street and heads south to Harrison Street. Festive floats, marching bands and creative displays from civic, nonprofit and children’s groups all come together with the City to put on this much anticipated hometown holiday tradition.

The Hollywood Beach Candy Cane Parade is one of the longest running holiday parades in the country. It started back in the mid 1950’s by a group of Hollywood merchants as a way to draw patrons to their shops and businesses. Today it features dozens of lighted floats and vehicles with parade participants tossing out candy canes and starlight mints all along the parade route. MANNY DEREN Manny Deren stood head and shoulders above most; in stature and in esteem. A gentle man, the ‘go-to guy’ whether it be a personal problem, current or past historical events. Deren passed away on November 19. Today, he is remembered by those who loved and admired him. Page 2B.
