PUBLISHER’S NOTE

Dear Readers, As we learned again in 2022, nothing is quite as important as your health, and we want to help you find the best doctor for your needs. In our ‘Tampa’s Doctors of the Year’ feature, you will meet our city’s health professionals recommended/voted for by their local peers and our readers. February, the month of love is here, so, it’s a great time to grab hold of the opportunity to show how much you care for that special someone in your life. It is such a blessing to find love, take a moment to show your spouse or significant other what they mean to you. This Valentine’s Day, celebrate that person you share your heart with by taking them for a wonderful night out at one of our city’s delicious restaurants. Treat your sweetheart to dinner and drinks, or enjoy our world-class entertainment experiences right here in Tampa Bay. No matter what you decide to do together, there are countless ways to fill your evening with loveliness, so, don’t forget to make your reservations!

Everybody is talking about the crazy real estate market… Our research team is continually monitoring the local, regional, and international markets, and they report that comparative prices for residential condos and homes are much higher elsewhere around the globe than those right here in the Tampa Bay area. These high-priced properties not only include those in chic cities such as Paris or Tokyo, but also those in remote, provincial towns in the expanses of South America and beyond. With these skyrocketing prices all around the world, why look internationally for real estate when the Tampa housing market is still priced amazingly affordable if you are lucky enough to get one. Seriously, ask any professional Realtor in your area! As always, we would like to thank our readers and our advertisers, for encouraging us to create an aesthetically appealing magazine filled with intriguing pieces that inspire, and because this is the month of love, we want to send you our kindest sentiments for your dedication and support. Happy & Healthy Valentine’s Day! XOXO. Here at Tampa Style Magazine, we are seeking additional sales representatives, as well as a delivery driver in the Tampa Bay area. If you are interested in these job opportunities, please contact us at info@styletome.com.

A Recent Study Has Revealed the Long-Term Impact of Drinking Coffee Every Day Here’s what happens when you drink coffee regularly. Ashley Richmond A recent study has revealed how the amount of coffee we drink each day impacts our risk of heart attack, stroke, and death from all causes. Here’s what they found. The research included 468,629 participants, who were divided into 3 groups based on their coffee consumption: none (do not drink coffee regularly), light to moderate (0.5 to 3 cups), and high (more than 3 cups per day). They followed up with the participants 10 to 15 years later, with a median follow-up of 11 years. They adjusted their results for age, sex, weight, height, smoking status, physical activity, high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol level, socioeconomic status, as well as alcohol intake, and consumption of meat, tea, fruit, and vegetables. They found that the light to moderate coffee drinkers of 0.5 to 3 cups per day had a lowered risk of all-cause mortality of 12% compared to non-coffee drinkers. They also found a 17% lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a 21% lower risk of stroke. Therefore, it appears that long-term, drinking 0.5 to 3 cups of coffee each day has a beneficial impact on our health with a main mechanism of improving our heart health.

Why Ybor City is known as the “Cigar Capital of The World” By William P.

Ybor and his partner Ignacio Haya purchased an undeveloped piece of land with the idea of creating a hardworking community with the influence of Spanish Cuba. Before moving to the United States, Ybor lived in Cuba for 15 years working in the factory industry and cigarmanufacturing business, and even penned his own brand, “Prince of Wales,” with great success. Together, the two created a partnership to bring their business stateside in Tampa, Florida. After establishing businesses in New York and Key West, the pair decided to make their move to the warm, humid climate in Tampa, and from there, the rest is history. In 1886, Ybor and his colleagues supervised the construction of some 176 worker houses in Ybor City, the eventual home for 3,000 workers hand-rolling cigars in new factories. It was at this moment that Ybor’s cigar background would transition into a worldwide phenomenon. By 1890, the city’s population had grown twofold to roughly 6,000 people, with a large percentage comprising of Cuban immigrants, 15 percent of which were Afro-Cuban. By 1900, Ybor City’s manufacturers produced the highestquality, hand-rolled tobacco products in the world. Yes, Ybor City surpassed the gold standard of Havana, Cuba. This renaissance helped coin the city as the “Cigar Capital of the World.” Sadly, Ybor would not live past 1896 to see his hard work gain such acclaim.

Unfortunately, the cigar industry suffered great losses in the late 20s and early 30s due to the Great Depression and later again due to a mass exodus of immigrants during World War II. Despite a slight recovery after the war, Ybor City would never return to its glory days. But after urban renewal projects in the city began tearing down parts of the historic district in 1965, a local movement began to preserve the remaining important buildings. Today, Ybor City continues to serve as a heavily influenced Cuban/Hispanic town in the heart of Tampa, and cigars can still be purchased from small storefronts along Ybor’s 7th Avenue. Along this busy street, tourists and locals alike can get their fix of fresh hand-rolled cigars at the following spots: Tabanero Cigars Long Ash Cigars King Corona Cigars Ybor Cigars Plus La Faraona Cigars So the next time you visit Florida or Tampa, swing by Ybor City and pick up a stogie or visit the local breweries while you munch on Cuban cuisine and remember this history lesson so you can impress your friends with some cool facts about this often overlooked gem.

Not long after, other prominent Latin cigar brands joined Ybor’s manufacturing monolith in Tampa and grew even more. By the time the roaring 20s rolled around, cigars were being produced in 36 different shapes and sizes.

PEOPLE

Bromances aren’t new. Early American presidents often wrote endearing letters to other politicians and close male companions, like Presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. However, after WWII, homohysteria drastically changed masculinity norms, and male friendships suffered as a result. In recent years, male friendships have come back into the spotlight with high-profilers Obama and Joe Biden, James Franco and Seth Rogan, and even fictional characters like The Hangover posse (yes, even Allan).

Bromance over Romance? What changing relationships mean for men and women.

According to a study of 30 diverse, straight college males, men prefer bromance over romance. Men reported feeling like they can unabashedly be themselves with their bro. They feel less judged by their close male friends and engage in “no-boundaries” behavior, such as sharing secrets, expressing anxieties and love, or platonically sharing a bed. The participants also reported expressing emotions physically by hugging or cuddling, and they felt secure divulging personal health issues in their bromances. Men also reported feeling like they have to be more “manly” in their romantic relationships, and thus aren’t emotionally fulfilled with their romantic partners. It is clear, then, that men are more wholly satisfied with their male friendships than their romantic relationships. Bromances are a progressive step forward in redefining masculinity and eradicating toxic ideals of what it is to “be a man.” It fosters conflict resolution, as some participants reported it’s easier to confront and forgive your bro. It also encourages emotional vulnerability, stability, and growth with familiar people, especially for those men who aren’t comfortable being emotionally intimate with women. Though bromances can be fulfilling and healthy for men, researchers do have some reservations. Men in the study sometimes used sexist and contemptuous language when referring to their romantic partners. They also displayed an “us and them” mentality that seemed to favor their bros over their romantic partners. This can be particularly deconstructive if bros foster bad behavioral patterns that can impact their romantic relationships, such as dishonesty and unaccountability.

W FORT LAUDERDALE Detox. Retox. Repeat.

36

| STYLETOME.COM

TRAVEL ‘N STYLE

With powdery white beaches and crystal blue waters, a getaway to Fort Lauderdale gives you the much needed opportunity to “detox, retox, and repeat” in a destination unrivaled in sunshine and fun. After the stress of the last two years, we could all use that idyllic oceanfront vacation and finding the perfect destination is only half of the battle. Naturally, the only way to complement a destination like Fort Lauderdale is with equally superb accommodations and you’ll have your share of excellent choices along the sultry shores of Fort Lauderdale Beach, but only one lives up to its chic and glamorous reputation with a bold personality to match. As South Florida’s signature playground, the W Fort Lauderdale is a beachfront beauty that pushes travelers to live it up from sunrise to sunset with an endless list of luxurious amenities and services. Though my own stay at the magnificent property was just three days, I knew within moments of my arrival that I was in for quite the treat. It was all but impossible to get off on the wrong side of the bed each morning as my spacious guest room with a private oceanfront balcony offered breathtaking views of the sparkling sea. Somehow I managed to drag myself away from this spectacular view and out of the deeply welcoming guest room only to find myself astonished by a lengthy list of nearby activities to participate in. Equally impressive was the ability to partake in so many of these fantastic offerings and experiences without ever stepping foot off the property. If and when you do find the will to venture away from the extravagant and relaxing amenities of W Fort Lauderdale, you’ll find a wide array of one-of-a-kind things to do. In honoring Fort Lauderdale’s nickname as the “Venice of America,” it’s all but mandatory that you set aside time to “retox” and explore Fort Lauderdale's iconic Intracoastal on a half-day boat charter. Be forewarned that spending so much time on the beautiful water without getting in will feel like quite the tease, but W Fort Lauderdale has you covered upon your return to the resort with WET. The instaworthy rooftop pool soars five floors above the ocean and invites you to soak in the sun or take a refreshing swim along the see-through pool walls. Needless to say, be sure to pack your favorite swimsuit for one of the coolest underwater photo opportunities in the city! While you’re digging through the closet picking out that swimwear, be sure to also throw some comfy workout clothes because if there’s one thing the W Fort Lauderdale knows how to do well, it’s knowing how to get that heart pumping. After our relaxing afternoon at WET, my companions and I experienced an open-air pure

barre class at sunset overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The following day it was a Sea Sycle spin class like you've never seen before. We pumped up the wheels as Ride Element spin studio took us on an exciting workout with front row seats to those breathtaking ocean views. A selection of bikes per class are reserved for hotel guests on a complimentary, first-come, first-served basis—talk about amenities! Though there are 4,000 dining options to choose from throughout the great city of Fort Lauderdale, the first of many fabulous meals I experienced on my trip was actually at El Vez, the W Fort Lauderdale’s own Mexican restaurant from James Beard award-winning chef, Stephen Starr. My companions and I savored the authentic Mexican flavors and creative cuisine at this wildly popular restaurant which features over 100 varieties of tequila to complement your meal. Also located at the resort was the acclaimed Steak 954 restaurant. From dry-aged meats and delectable sides to an innovative cocktail menu—Steak 954 and Stephen Starr truly bring a unique interpretation of classic, upscale steakhouse dining to Fort Lauderdale Beach. Upon reflecting on my time at W Fort Lauderdale, I can say without a doubt that it was the perfect picture of rest and relaxation. From start to finish, my companions and I experienced hospitality and a sense of belonging that has left me eager to return and continue to detox, retox and repeat at this fabulous property. From a hydrating 50-min Prescription Facial at AWAY full service spa to happy hour fun at Rhythm & Vine beer garden to authentic, handmade Italian cuisine at Louie Bossi, and ooh SoBe Vegan—no matter what type of adventure you seek, you will find it either on property at W Fort Lauderdale or through its proximity to world-class shopping, award-winning dining, and diverse attractions. Don’t just take my word for it though. It’s time to escape the current and get swept away by W Fort Lauderdale yourself.

THE PERFECT RED FOR YOUR SKIN TONE The colors we wear can either make or break the vibrancy of our skin. When it comes to makeup, we should match our lip shade the same as we would match foundation or face powder. Once you understand your own skin, you will know the hues that work best for you. The first step in defining your skin tone is by determining the undertones of your skin. The best way of recognizing your undertone is by looking at the veins in your wrist. If they appear to be blue or purple, you have cool undertones. Cool undertones call for lipstick colors that have deep blu-ish shades. So instead of an orangey red, you would go for deep, purple-tinted red. Also,

dusty purple and berry shades compliment your skin! If your veins are slightly more green, you have warm undertones. Vibrant colors are your friend! You can go for an orangey shade or bright red! Peachy-pink shades are also a match for you. If your veins seem to be a mixture of these colors, then you might have neutral undertones. Neutral undertones basically just means you’ve been blessed with the ability to rock basically any shade of red. Orangey reds, pink-reds, berry-reds, wine red. My best advice to anybody with a neutral skin tone is to rock the everlasting classic Marilyn Monroe red...just because you can!

SHINE ON Makeup to make you blinding! We all know the feeling of a killer highlighter to accentuate your sharpest features, but there are other ways to make you radiant. An easily applied balmy eyeshadow adds shine and gloss to wake up your look, and glitter gel smudged underneath your eyes can hide dark circles. High-shine lip gloss circa-2005 is also making a comeback to complement this year’s trend.

CELEBRITY SOUP

HOLLYWOOD ACTORS UNDER SIX FOOT They say the camera adds 10 pounds, but can it also add a few inches in height? By Riesa Pascal

50

| STYLETOME.COM

CELEBRITY SOUP

Did you know that the average height for men in the United States is 5 feet 9 inches tall? Upon discovering this fun fact for myself, I was surprised to also learn that many of Hollywood’s leading men are actually shorter than average. In an industry where physical appearance can often be seen as a barrier to success, it’s refreshing to know that plenty of the film industry’s most exciting, larger-than-life actors are actually much smaller than they seem on the silver screen. Thanks to movie magic you would never know that Harry Potter is shorter than Frodo and Ant-Man is actually taller than the Hulk. Here’s a look at some of the biggest Hollywood actors who are all less than the average male height.

TOM CRUISE — 5' 7" In 2011, Cruise spoke about his height insecurities in an interview revealing that he became very sensitive about his stature after it was announced he would be bringing the character of Jack Reacher to life on the big screen. Fans were quick to point out that Cruise was nearly a whole foot shorter than the towering hero of Lee Child's thriller series. AL PACINO — 5'7" To imagine The Godfather without Al Pacino is like picturing The Matrix without Keanu Reeves, but you may be surprised to know that almost became reality! During a Tribeca Film Festival, it was revealed that Pacino’s height nearly cost him the role of Michael Corleone as Paramount producers thought he was “too short” to play the part. ELIJAH WOOD — 5'6" Without his short stature, Elijah Wood might not have landed the role that gave him his first big break! At 5’6” he was the ideal height to play a hobbit named Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings franchise—a role which earned him numerous awards and was reprised in the follow-up franchise, The Hobbit.

same height as I am...If you’re asking, ‘Can you play a really (bleeping) tall person?’ No, obviously not. Can I play a black guy? For similar reasons, no. I couldn’t play something I wouldn’t take myself seriously in.” KEVIN HART — 5'2” Hart’s shorter stature is especially prominent when he's seen standing with his family, as his wife, Eniko Parrish, stands several inches taller than him. If Hart is at all self-conscious about his 5-foot-4-inch stature, you'd certainly never know it. He regularly draws attention to his height in his shows, laughing along with thousands of people as he jokes about why he’ll never be tough because his legs don’t touch the ground when he sits. MICHAEL J. FOX — 5'4¼" In his 2009 book Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist, the beloved Back to the Future star admitted that the title was a dig at his height, saying, “First off—let's just get this one out of the way—it's a short joke… At a fraction of an inch under five-foot-five, much of my interaction with the world and the people in it has required that I tilt my head backward and direct my gaze upward.”

DANIEL RADCLIFFE — 5'5" When asked by Playboy if he thought his height had held him back in Hollywood, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe said the following: “I don’t think so. Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise have very different careers, and they’re both about the

The nationally acclaimed artist Hubert Phipps and the luxury Italian coachbuilder ARES Modena launched a new exhibition during Art Basel Miami that debuted the first ARES Modena showroom in North America, in the Miami Design District. A sculptor and painter, Phipps was also a national racecar champion and is a pilot, coming up on his 50th anniversary as an aviator. The exhibition Hubert Phipps: Ascending features several works born out of the artist’s love for acceleration and for aerodynamic forms. “I am honored to have been invited by ARES Miami to present this collaboration during Art Basel Miami,” said Hubert Phipps. “ARES is one of the world’s leading studios of high-performance design and stellar engineering is igniting new inspirations in my artmaking.” The title of this show reflects the growing national recognition of the artist (as museums and collectors across the country acquire his works), with Phipps’ history with racecars and aircraft. In addition to the launch of the exhibition during the week of Art Basel, the artist and ARES Miami are planning events in January with some of Phipps’ world-renowned racing colleagues from his time as a professional racecar driver. The new ARES S1 supercar model was flown from Italy to Miami, and has never been shown in North America. The one-of-a-kind, automotive work of art will be the centerpiece for this exhibition, surrounded by sculptures and artworks by Phipps that are seen as a perfect fit with the creative aesthetic behind ARES Modena’s singular success in automotive design. Only 24 versions of the ARES S1 supercar will be created in the entire world, each tailor-made to the client’s desires and taste, making each design unique. The ARES S1’s dramatic low-profile is similar to racing prototypes from the 70s and 80s. Hand-crafted in carbon fiber, the curvaceous wheel arches, with sculptured side skirts and forward sitting cockpit, give a sleek yet aggressive stance. The S1 is powered by a naturally aspirated V8 delivering power to the wheels via an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. The interior combines the finest Alcantara and Napa leather that is quilted in specific areas. The sculptures and artworks by Phipps in this exhibition rev up the space in the ARES Miami showroom, apace with the supercar’s electrifying spirit: Sky Temple, Voyager, Arch, Lava Flow, Africa 1, and Africa 2, plus a maquette-sized version of Rocket from the private collection of real estate magnate Lawrence Moens. The exhibition also features Phipps’ signature paint pigment drawings: Momentum, Current, Impulse, and Rhythm.

TAMPA’S DOCTORS OF THE YEAR

TA M P A ’ S

2022 In prefacing this introduction, we’d like to offer an observation, which should be of interest to all. Regardless of medical school class rankings, graduates are all referred to as “DOCTOR.” With this revelation, we should all know that when choosing a physician, one must accept responsibility for adequately researching the doctor he or she is considering. Within our present day society, most licensed to practice medicine are truly miracle workers whether they are completely restructuring someone’s face or saving a life. As much as we realize that every physician is an asset to our

community, we also know that some have established themselves at the top of their profession and are considered special; these are the ‘elite,’ the very best of the best. When seeking perfection, we search for the professional who has made it his or her life goal to excel within a field of specialization through many years of study, dedication and determination, continually challenging themselves to advance their knowledge; these brilliant human beings not only save lives but also enrich their communities with a skill set second to none. Beyond this and in order to stay abreast of the latest, almost daily changing

medical advancements, the ‘elite’ undergo rigorous maintenance, updating through seminars, conferences and advanced studies to keep current with new technology and procedures. In adding our ‘Tampa’s Doctors of the Year’ section with this issue, we present a group of physicians, all of whom are reputable, Board Certified in their areas of expertise, extremely well recognized within our community and chosen by their peers. Our objective is to initiate a continuing dialogue with our readers, with an aim toward personalizing some of the finest doctors available.

She has held membership in the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Hillsborough County Medical Association, Medical Society of the State of New York, Bay Area Medical Association, and the Student National Medical Association. She has worked at several top hospitals and surgical centers throughout the Bay area. In 2015, Dr. Ericsson was voted Tampa’s #1 Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Over a decade and a half ago, in search of better therapeutics for her patients, she began training in other healthcare modalities. In the scope of her practice at that time, she was somewhat limited, offering only pharmaceutical or surgical treatments. She sought an approach that also embraced functional medicine, addressing the root cause of symptoms and conditions to truly influence patient healing… to treat the patient from the inside out... to teach them how to achieve their best health… Additionally, Dr. Ericsson was keenly focused on anti-aging and aesthetics and recognized how wellness and hormone replacement therapy was inextricably intertwined with optimal outcomes in aesthetics and anti-aging. She wanted to help patients live better lives at every stage. That concern necessitated sexual health optimization as well. Determined to do all of this, she set out to practice in an arena to address this fundamental array of patient needs. The practice style and philosophy of AgeRejuvenation fit her ideal therapeutic approach. Dr Ericsson treats every patient as a unique individual. She spends time with them one on one, evaluating their medical history, lifestyle, and personal goals to best serve their needs. She enjoys not just placing a band-aid on patient symptoms, but addressing the cause of the them. Her skillset includes bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, thyroid hormone balancing, sexual health therapy, sexual dysfunction treatments (including the O-shot™ and P-shot), Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) procedures, stem cell and exosome therapy, thread lifting, dermal fillers, Botox, sclerotherapy, mesotherapy, and cosmetic lasers. As Age Rejuvenation's Medical Director, she oversees 13 medical providers, a staff of 80 employees and a database of 58,000 patients. Dr. Ericsson is one of a select few OB/GYN’s throughout the country to specialize in bio-identical hormone therapy. Dr. Ericsson enjoys helping patients restore their health through hormonal balance, decreased inflammation, and improved sexual function – promoting longer, healthier living at any age.

Dr. Mario F. Hernandez, MD Medical Director Cell Renew Medical Spa Dr. Mario Hernandez is a husband, father and physician who specializes in Hospital and Aesthetics Medicine. You’ll find him at Saint Joseph Hospital in Tampa Bay, where he has been an adult medicine hospitalist for the past 10 years. Dr. Hernandez says his most rewarding experience has been taking care of those who are most ill and helping them make a health improvement plan to improve their own quality of life. And then more recently, he has proudly cared for 100s of Covid-19 patients on the front lines as their managing physician. Though Tampa has been his home for a long time, Dr. Hernandez’ journey began some 1200 miles into the Atlantic, in Humacao, Puerto Rico. There he was born and was raised until the age of 12. And appropriately, it was medicine and the opportunity to help others that brought Mario and his family to the US—Mario’s father, Dr. Wright Hernandez, came to the US to practice medicine as a family physician in Michigan. And there in Michigan, Mario completed his undergraduate at Central Michigan University and went on to medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. After medical school, he went on to complete his residency in family medicine at the University of Kentucky. The idea of helping others improve their beauty and image always brought Mario towards the field of Aesthetic Medicine. And after becoming acquainted with the field, he found that being an expert with his hands and his detail-oriented mindset made him a perfect match for the venture. He went on to obtain the most innovative and specialized aesthetic medicine training at numerous institutions all over world, such as the EIMEC Institute of Barcelona and Full Face Academy of Medellin, Colombia. He trained with the world’s best aesthetic physicians in Mexico and Miami. With this knowledge and expertise, Dr. Hernandez and his wife Wendy founded Cell Renew Medical Spa with the goal of creating a unique skin care experience for the patient with most innovative treatments used throughout the world. With their new venture, they can help men and women look and feel good, be comfortable with themselves, increase confidence, foster happiness and with it: health and beauty, inside and out. What gets him up in the morning is the thought that his work helps his patients live life to the fullest. "As a doctor, I realize I cannot help my patients if I do not take care of myself first. Before taking care of my physical and emotional well-being, I could not be the doctor I am today. I now can better help my patients by being more alert, having more energy to attend to their needs, and showing them that change is possible. As a pain management physician, I noticed similar and more severe problems with my patients. Many of them had worked their entire lives for a retirement they could no longer enjoy under the weight of crushing disease brought on by unhealthy lifestyles. They were not only sick, but they were unhappy. My purpose is to instill hope in people that they can age with dignity and continue to live their lives on their terms. I want to inspire men and women of all ages to respect their bodies and treat them with care. I want to promote a culture of health so that I can see fewer patients suffering unnecessary pain so that fewer people might have to endure the crippling anxiety of poor health and low self-esteem." "You must find the place inside of you where nothing is impossible." - Francisco M. Torres, M.D.

Nader H. Chadda M.D.

President and CEO, Advanced Heart and Vascular Associates Everyone of us knows someone with cardiovascular disease. It may be a family member, friend, coworker, or ourselves. In fact, it is the number one killer of men and women in the United States. Each year it kills more than a half a million people in the United States. Cardiovascular disease is a blanket term of a chronic inflammatory condition which manifests as plaque accumulation in walls of blood vessels. Blood vessels throughout the body are affected including the coronary arteries (which supply the heart with blood), carotid arteries (which supply the brain with blood), lower extremity arteries, upper extremity arteries, mesenteric arteries (which supply the intestines with blood), and renal arteries (which supply the kidneys with blood). Although preventing cardiovascular disease remains elusive, over the past 2 decades, we have been fortunate to make great strides in treatment. Coronary stent technology has made it possible to live an entire life-time with a greater than 90% chance that the stents will remain open. The same stent technology has been extrapolated to other blood vessels.

Coming from a family of physicians, I always had a strong interest in the medical sciences. However, my interest in cardiovascular disease began after my Dad had a massive myocardial infarction. At the time, I was a medical student and never thought that the very subjects I would be studying would have such a personal impact on me. My Dad was a picture of health before his heart attack and did not have any of the traditional risk factors for heart disease. Fortunately, emergent stent placement saved his life. His heart recovered from the damage and with the help of medical therapy, cardiac rehab, and improved diet, he made a full recovery. The desire to help patients on the brink of death ignited a passion to become a master learner. I have strived over the years to learn from experts in the field, continuously trying to refine my techniques and skills. I believe that we must put our best effort out there every day – every surgery, every patient. The stakes are too high, lives too important to give anything less.

CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 ELEVATES THE AMERICAN SUPERCAR 76

| TAMPASTYLEMAGAZINE.COM

“Corvette has always brought a discerning customer to the Chevy family,” said Steve Hill, vice president of Chevrolet. “This new Z06 was designed and engineered to set a higher bar with increased levels of craftsmanship, personalization and performance so customers can truly have their own bespoke performance car.” While the Z06 was created to dominate on the track when it debuted in 1963, the Z06 nameplate has also come to symbolize the perfect combination of track beast and supercar. “The new Corvette Z06 defines the American supercar,” said General Motors President Mark Reuss. “It builds on the distinctive design and groundbreaking dynamics introduced with the mid-engine Corvette and elevates them to deliver refined but uncompromising track capability with world-class performance.”

TOYS

The Z06 is set apart by its beating heart – the all-new 5.5L LT6, the highest horsepower, naturally-aspirated V-8 to hit the market in any production car, ever. An all-new flat-plane crankshaft design entices drivers to push the tachometer to a lofty 8,600 rpm, creating 670 hp. Engineers spent two years crafting a distinctive, rich exhaust tone unlike anything ever heard from a Corvette. The sound and appearance of the Z06 take direction from Corvette Racing. The direct knowledge transfer from the track to the street has never been more evident. The Z06 chassis has underpinned Corvette Racing’s C8.R since it began competing in 2020. Thanks to a shared chassis, similar engine architecture and exterior proportions, the C8.R has been referred to internally as the Z06 hiding in plain sight. “Racing was the reason the Z06 was developed in 1963, and it continues to support development of the road models that make

them better on the street and the track,” said Tadge Juechter, executive chief engineer, Corvette. “It also means we’ve tested the Z06 on the best tracks around the world, from Circuit of the Americas here in the United States, to the Nürburgring in Germany.” The Corvette C8.R shined during IMSA’s 2020 sports car championship series, capturing six victories and seven pole positions, and setting the fastest class race laps in six events. During the 2020 series, Chevrolet won the GT Manufacturers title – its 13th since 2001. Jordan Taylor and Antonio Garcia and the No. 3 Corvette C8.R crew won the GTLM Drivers and Team championships. The performance envelope of Z06 builds on the foundation laid by Stingray, as does Z06’s design language and attention to detail. Expanded material offerings, new interior packages and features unique to Z06 enable owners to create their own bespoke American supercar.
