Here is a little tidbit for you: I read that the human body, with the exception of our cerebral cortex—the portion of our brain responsible for consciousness—is entirely replaced every seven years. Although this may be an exaggeration, it’s an intriguing idea. Red blood cells are completely replaced every 120 days. Skin cells are changed out about every 4 weeks, and the surface of your lungs is only 3 weeks old. Our bodies are constantly rebuilding. In fact, by the time you read this, millions of your cells will have died and been replaced with new ones. Perhaps we are obsessed with newness because we are constantly renewing.

All the best.

Da Sesto Italiano

A TASTE OF LE MARCHE IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA

In the heart of Pinellas Park, Da Sesto Italiano Ristorante e Vino beckons with the soulful flavors of Italy’s Le Marche region, masterfully crafted by Chef Sesto. Since opening its doors in January 2007, this culinary gem has evolved from a boutique eatery into a Tampa Bay icon, now thriving at its spacious location on 7201 66th St N. For over 18 years, Da Sesto has delighted diners with authentic Italian cuisine, earning a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame for six consecutive years since 2015 and the Best of Tampa Bay award for 12 years running. Here, passion for food and people creates an unforgettable dining experience.

Chef Sesto’s journey to restaurateur is as inspiring as his dishes. Armed with a Mechanical Engineering degree, he founded Techno-Pasta, specializing in pasta manufacturing equipment. This expertise led him to Florida Pasta Company in Clearwater, which he acquired in 1997 after relocating his family to St. Petersburg. For over a decade, Sesto elevated Florida Pasta’s statewide presence before channeling his love for authentic Italian fare into Da Sesto Italiano. His Le Marche roots shine through in every plate, blending tradition with innovation to captivate Tampa’s discerning foodies.

The menu is a love letter to Le Marche, featuring house-made pastas that melt in your mouth. Signature dishes like tagliatelle with wild boar ragù and gnocchi with truffle cream sauce honor regional traditions, while creative offerings—such as seafood risotto with local Gulf shrimp—showcase Sesto’s flair for modern twists. Each dish is crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, reflecting the chef’s commitment to authenticity. The warm, rustic ambiance, with its exposed brick and soft lighting, transports diners to an Italian trattoria, perfect for romantic dinners or lively gatherings.

Sesto’s passion extends to his extensive wine collection, curated to highlight Le Marche’s finest varietals. From crisp Verdicchio to robust Rosso Conero, each bottle is a story of Italy’s rolling hills, and Sesto delights in guiding guests to the perfect pairing. Try the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo with the osso buco for a match made in culinary heaven. The wine list, paired with attentive service, elevates every meal into a celebration of la dolce vita.

Da Sesto’s accolades reflect its unwavering quality. The Tripadvisor Hall of Fame status underscores consistent excellence, while the Best of Tampa Bay awards affirm its place in the

region’s culinary elite. Yet, it’s Sesto’s personal touch—greeting guests, sharing stories of Le Marche, and ensuring every plate sings— that makes this restaurant a standout. Open Tuesday–Sunday, 4 PM–10 PM, reservations are recommended to secure a table at this beloved spot.

For Tampa Bay’s luxury seekers, Da Sesto Italiano offers more than a meal—it’s a journey to Italy’s heart. Whether you’re savoring a classic lasagna or sipping a regional wine, this Pinellas Park treasure promises an authentic, soul-warming experience. Salute to Chef Sesto’s vision and Tampa’s vibrant dining scene!

IS THE PARTY OVER?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN FOOD GETS TOO COLORFUL

As kids, we learn that it’s a party when the rainbow-sprinkled cupcakes show up. And what would that party be without a dish or three of every-color candy and brightly colored beverages? More color is more fun!

So, the ultra-processed food industry, recognizing that its consumers respond positively to brighter and more vibrant colors, has added food coloring to almost half of everything we eat. According to a 2016 study in the journal Clinical Pediatrics, researchers found artificial food dyes in 43% of the products they examined from the shelves of one supermarket.

As many home cooks know, sometimes because their spouses weren’t quite as careful as they should have been, natural foods like turmeric and beets can stain countertops with their powerful pigments. Throughout human history, those foods and others, were used to add a burst of color to our plates. But coloring food with natural pigments can be expensive and in the mid1800s, food purveyors, through the rise of synthetic chemistry, began to realize that food could be more cheaply colored with these substances instead. Everything from arsenic to mercury became fair game as a way to not only add excitement to food, but also as a way to hide the browns and greys of not-so-fresh food.

By 1906, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was created to start to get a handle on just what was going into the US food supply and to remove substances that were proven to be harmful to human health. As a result, many synthetic food dyes have been banned over the years after it was shown that they caused effects from intestinal upset to possibly cancer.

In 2025, only six to ten artificial colorings are allowed in foods, depending on how you count them (for example titanium dioxide, which makes food whiter and was banned by the European Union in 2022 due to concerns about possible damage to DNA and perhaps also the gut microbiome, isn’t listed as a colorant in the FDA classification scheme). To meet the FDA standard for approval, a food dye must be shown to have “a reasonable certainty of no harm to consumers when a color additive is used as proposed.” The problem that arises is just what is “reasonable”? That depends on who you ask.

Everything from arsenic to mercury became fair game as a way to not only add excitement to food, but also as a way to hide the browns and greys of not-so-fresh food.

While several studies have shown that the food dyes currently in use may be contributing to behavioral issues and rising rates of ADHD in children, the ultraprocessed food industry has contended that other causes are to blame. Red dye #3 was banned by the FDA in January 2025 due to evidence that it caused cancer in rodent studies. The other additives being used have not been shown to cause cancer and therefore FDA will have a harder time getting rid of them without officially changing the law. Instead, the government has asked food producers to voluntarily remove these dyes from their products.

Voluntarily removing synthetic dyes with some evidence that they may be harming our children is a good start (if the ultraprocessed food companies actually comply with the request), but it is nowhere near enough to clean up our food supply. First, since this is only a request and not mandated by law, the companies may easily revert back to their artificial food dyes with a more permissive FDA in the future. Second, it does nothing to help stem the tide of ultra-processed foods in our diets with additives such as emulsifiers and stabilizers that have much stronger evidence of damage to our health.

But, we have to start somewhere and perhaps learning that food shouldn’t be bright white or purple or blue is as good a place as any. And maybe colors derived from actual food sources that makes us and our children feel better will be even more fun at parties.

Eat Everything: How to Ditch Additives and Emulsifiers, Heal Your Body, and Reclaim the Joy of Food

STRONG LOOKS GOOD

The rise of performance wear that moves with you, sculpts you, and speaks volumes—on and off the mat. By

The days of oversized tees and forgotten gym shorts are behind us. In 2025, strength is more than a feeling—it’s a look. And it’s taking over the studio, the street, and the style world in a big way. Welcome to the age of empowered activewear: sculpted, sleek, and unapologetically bold.

Fitness fashion has become its own kind of runway. Think high-performance sets in rich hues like clay rose, deep plum, and carbon gray—designed to move with you and make a statement while doing it. There’s precision in every stitch: sweat-wicking fabrics, contour-enhancing seams, and compression fits that don’t just support—they sculpt. These aren’t just clothes you wear to work out. These are clothes that work for you.

Take the modern matching set: flattering, minimal, and functional enough for a circuit class but stylish enough to pair with a trench coat and boots for brunch. Brands like Alo Yoga, SET Active, and P.E Nation are leading the charge, proving that performance and polish can go hand in hand. They’re not designing for the male gaze—they’re designing for the woman who lifts, who leads, who laces up for herself.

What’s more, the aesthetic goes beyond the outfit. Strong bodies, once filtered through the narrow lens of aesthetics, are finally being celebrated for what they do—not just how they look. Women are leaning into power, movement, and mental discipline with a whole new energy. It’s not about shrinking or softening. It’s about showing up.

“The way I dress to train is an extension of how I see myself—focused, feminine, and fierce,” says Maya L., a New York-based strength coach and model. “I want to feel ready to move and feel good doing it.”

The best part? This new wave of fitness fashion is deeply inclusive. More brands are expanding their size ranges, photographing real athletes and everyday movers, and designing for real bodies in motion—not just the ones on billboards. Because strong looks different on everyone—and strong looks good on everyone.

So whether you’re lifting weights, chasing a run, or just chasing your own version of balance, do it in style. Wear the clothes that remind you: strength isn’t just built. It’s worn.

WFORT LAUDERDALE

Where Sophistication Meets the Atlantic

Planning a Florida getaway or local escape this summer? Let W Fort Lauderdale be your destination. Nestled right on Fort Lauderdale Beach, the W blends a sleek sailboat-inspired silhouette with breathtaking Atlantic views and hues of blues that come to mind when imagining being by the ocean. Inside the hotel, you can experience a palette of blues, whites, warm wood, and rope accents that echo the seaside locale.

The property features two 23-story towers— one residential and one hotel—with a total of 440 guest rooms and suites. Fair warning: a short stay here might just tempt you into becoming a full-time resident.

The rooms are airy and spacious, my favorite feature being the large balconies with amazing sea views — the same kind of views that never get old. I woke up to radiant sunrises and drifted off each night to the moon shimmering over the water. That’s something you can easily get used to.

Fur-Family Friendly

Got a four-legged companion? Bring them along! The W is pet-friendly and provides plush W Doggie Beds, in-room food and water bowls, a curated pet menu, and more! Isn’t that ideal for a guilt-free vacation with the whole crew?

Two Pools, Two Vibes

Step onto the pool deck at W Fort Lauderdale, and it’s immediately clear: vacation mode instantly activated. The hotel features two pools: WET East and WET West. We opted for WET East, and what we got was a very Instagrammable experience consisting of a welcoming atmosphere and a DJ spinning endless beats. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a reserved cabana decorated Veuve Clicquot chic. There is an abundance of refreshing drinks to choose from and a WET Deck Bar and Grill menu which included house-made hummus (so delicious) and fresh house-made guacamole (another favorite).

For guests seeking a serene alternative, you can opt for the WET West pool. This secluded oasis still comes equipped with intracoastal views,

comfortable lounging, an infinity-edge hot tub, and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Eat, Drink, Repeat

Beyond the WET Deck Bar and Grill are a few other dining options onsite the hotel.

El Vez

If you’re in the mood to indulge in authentic Mexican food alongside the ocean in a cozy outdoor open patio, just in time to catch the sunset, then look no further than El Vez. Although indoor dining is an option, there is something special about experiencing night take over the summer sky while enjoying cuisine served al fresco, just steps from the ocean. Think sizzling fajitas, refreshing beet salad, and warm churros with dipping sauce — all with a front-row seat to the sunset.

Living Room

Lounge

The vibes in the Living Room are laid back, refined, yet upbeat. Located conveniently on the fourth floor of the East tower, yet still private enough to be intimate, you can share an after-meal drink, participate in live karaoke, or enjoy good music with a live DJ on certain evenings, along with a lineup of other new programming options.

El Vez Grab & Go

A convenient nook right next to the entrance of El Vez Restaurant is a quaint grab-and-go station with a selection of snacks, pastries, and espresso, tea, and coffee options. Here, you can indulge on the go!

Steak 954:

Last but not least, Steak 954 was the highlight of our final night. The upscale and polished ambiance makes for a great date spot or simply a fine dining experience. Starters included a good combination of sea and land with beef sliders, tuna tartare, beef tartare, and crab legs. For dinner, we enjoyed a juicy ribeye steak and a deliciously tender mahi mahi, accompanied by skillet potatoes, creamy mac and cheese, and grilled asparagus. And dessert? A variety of gelato paired beautifully with bold chocolate mousse cake. There was certainly something for everyone to enjoy.

Wellness, Recharged

If relaxation is the goal—and it should be— the AWAY Spa has you covered. Choose from deep-tissue or detox massages, hydrating facials, and beauty treatments like manicures and more.

I opted for the 50-minute prescription facial because it sounded just like the kind of tender loving care my skin was yearning for. I’m happy to report that it did not disappoint. The facial was a soothing combination of essential oils and high-quality skin products from the well-known Italian skincare line Comfort Zone, including a gentle peel, followed by a lifting mask, a few extractions, and a shoulder massage that almost put me into a peaceful slumber. I walked away with my skin revived and a glow that lasted.

For those who want to keep their fitness goals on track while vacationing, the 24/7 FIT Gym is sleek, modern, and located right by the pool for a post-workout dip. If you’d rather be active outdoors, you can select from a fleet of W bicycles to pedal down the boulevard or join a sunrise yoga session on the beach to start your day in zen.

The Final Word: Vibe Check

The W Fort Lauderdale is bold, vibrant, and unapologetically stylish. It’s perfect for weekend adventurers, couples celebrating special moments, staycationers, groups seeking fun, or solo travelers chasing sun-drenched serenity.

It’s centrally located, just minutes from downtown and across the street from the beach. This adds unbeatable convenience. And if you’re traveling in-state (like from Orlando), the Brightline station is just a quick Uber ride away.

Luxury, convenience, and coastal cool? Yes, please.

The peaceful stillness of nature wraps is a perfect start to a day in West Virginia’s wilderness. ACE Adventure Resort offers a 1,500-acre outdoor haven offering cabins, campsites, and even lakefront glamping.

One of the greatest and most adventurous activities while exploring West Virginia is whitewater rafting in the New River Gorge. After your adventure, grab dinner at Smokey’s on the Gorge, the Adventure on the Gorge’s signature restaurant perched above the canyon rim. The view is unbeatable, and the food is the reward you didn’t know you needed.

lovers. The gorge’s dramatic cliffs, dense hardwood forests, and roaring river offer an unparalleled mix of scenery and adventure.

Start your day with a cozy breakfast at Cathedral Café, a charming spot housed in a historic church featuring stained-glass windows and a delicious menu. Afterward, embark on the Long Point Trail, a 1.6-mile hike through lush forests where you will find a breathtaking overlook of the New River Gorge Bridge. This moderate trail offers a shady hike with a picturesque view, making it a perfect way to connect with nature.

Nothing ends a long day of adventuring in the outdoors quite like a craft cocktail in a cozy setting followed by a fresh pizza! Grab an expertly crafted cocktail at Rosa’s Speakeasy, an intimate and nostalgic venue nestled inside the historic Queen Anne Victorian Morris Harvey House. This Prohibition-era-inspired bar offers a curated selection of classic and innovative drinks, complemented by light bites like charcuterie boards and pies, all served in a vintage setting that will transport you back in time.

After drinks, head to Pies & Pints, a local favorite just a short walk away. Known for its creative pizzas and extensive craft beer selection, this casual eatery provides a relaxed atmosphere perfect for enjoying dinner with friends or family.

Once all of the adventuring is done, head over to Downtown Charleston, West Virginia. Charleston offers a delightful mix

of historic charm, vibrant arts, and Southern hospitality, making it an ideal destination for a weekend getaway.

Your first stop downtown must be Capitol Market, a vibrant year-round destination that seamlessly blends the charm of a traditional farmers market with the convenience of modern retail. Housed in a historic train station, this indoor-outdoor market offers a diverse array of local produce, specialty foods, artisanal goods, and unique dining experiences. In addition to indoor shops, the outdoor market hosts seasonal vendors selling fresh produce, flowers, and plants, making it a perfect spot for seasonal shopping and enjoying the local community atmosphere.

Among the many wonderful place to eat and drink in Charleston, the one that you can’t miss is 1010 Bridge, located at 1010 Bridge Road. 1010 Bridge is a celebrated dining destination that blends Appalachian flavors with low-country influences. Led by Chef Paul Smith, the state’s first James Beard Award winner, the restaurant offers a refined yet approachable menu that showcases local ingredients and culinary innovation.

One of Charleston’s biggest hits is their Mountain Stage, a well-known live performance radio show produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and distributed by NPR Music. Mountain Stage has been recorded in front of a live audience at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, West Virginia since 1983. The show features a

diverse lineup of artists, including seasoned legends and emerging stars, spanning genres such as folk, blues, country, indie rock, synth pop, world music, and alternative. Notable past performers include John Prine, Patti Smith, Mavis Staples, Townes Van Zandt, and Wilco.

For those interested in experiencing live music in a unique setting, attending a Mountain Stage recording offers a glimpse into the world of live radio production. Tickets are reasonably priced, and the venue’s close-knit atmosphere allows audiences to connect with artists in a meaningful way.

Visiting West Virginia offers a rich and unforgettable experience shaped by the state’s natural beauty, warm hospitality, and deep-rooted cultural traditions. From the scenic trails New River Gorge National Park to the charming streets of Charleston, every corner reveals something unique— whether it’s a soulful live performance at Mountain Stage, a farm-to-table meal at a restaurants like 1010 Bridge, or a stroll through the bustling Capitol Market. West Virginia is a place where history, music, food, and outdoor adventure come together to create a destination that’s both relaxing and inspiring. No matter the season or the reason for your visit, the Mountain State welcomes you with open arms and invites you to explore “almost heaven” to unwind, and return again.

F1THE MOVIE +

This summer, Formula 1® fans will flock to theaters for F1, a cinematic spectacle starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, set to redefine racing films. Shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, F1 blends authentic track action with a gripping narrative, following the fictional APXGP team as it battles motorsport giants. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies. With input from Formula 1®’s teams, drivers, and the FIA, F1 promises heart-pounding realism, hitting North American theaters and in IMAX® via Warner Bros. Pictures.

Mercedes-AMG, an official promotional partner, played a pivotal role, providing expertise, the Official FIA F1® Safety and Medical Cars, and vehicles like the AMG SL, G-Class, and GT for onscreen flair. A global co-promotion campaign in AMG’s core markets will amplify the film’s release. “F1 brilliantly intertwines the APXGP team with real-world Formula 1®. The thrilling storyline and realistic race footage will set moviegoers’ hearts racing,” says Michael Schiebe, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

At the Formula 1® Miami Grand Prix, MercedesAMG unveiled the 2026 AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition,” a limited-run supercar (only 52 units worldwide) inspired by the film’s APXGP team. This exclusive model mirrors the movie’s aesthetic with a bespoke paint finish and Race Gold accents on the grille, fenders, and sills, reflecting the fictional team’s livery. The 21-inch AMG Forged Cross-Spoke wheels, matte Race Gold, complement the AMG High Performance Carbon Ceramic Brakes. Carbon fiber elements—front splitter, rear diffuser, and a fixed rear wing— enhance its motorsport vibe, while the AMG Extended Night Package adds black chrome accents.

Powered by a 577-hp Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, the AMG GT 63 delivers exhilarating performance. Technologies like AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, active rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics ensure precise handling, while its aluminum body offers a spacious 2+2 interior and ample cargo space.

The “APXGP Edition” interior dazzles with black Nappa leather, gold contrast stitching, and carbon fiber trim with gold threads. Exclusive touches include illuminated door sills, a Burmester® 3D Surround Sound System, and a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” badge.

Each vehicle comes with a custom AMG Indoor Car Cover, and features like AMG TRACK PACE and a front-axle lift system enhance its trackready practicality. “With the APXGP Edition, we’re creating a limited number of GTs that blend AMG’s excitement with the cinematic masterpiece F1,” Schiebe adds.

F1 and the AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” celebrate the intersection of motorsport and cinema, offering fans a thrilling story and a rare supercar that embodies Formula 1®’s adrenaline. As the film races into theaters, Mercedes-AMG’s partnership ensures its legacy burns bright on and off the track.

ICONIC Disliked Actors who

MOVIE ROLES THEIR

FROM CLASHING WITH DIRECTORS TO OPENLY HATING THE FINAL CUT, THESE STARS HAVEN’T HELD BACK!

You’d think starring in a hit movie would be every actor’s dream, but that’s not always the case. In fact, it’s not uncommon for actors to express regret about certain roles even after those projects were commercially successful and popular with fans. From cringeworthy scripts to disappointing directors, these regrets range from harmless blips to full-blown career embarrassments. Here are eight movies that their starring actors would rather erase from memory—no matter how beloved by fans.

KATHERINE HEIGL – KNOCKED UP

Although a film like Knocked Up might face more public scrutiny if it were made today, that doesn’t change the fact that it was a major box office hit and a defining comedy of the 2000s. In spite of this. Leading actress Katherine Heigl has spoken out about her dislike of the film’s portrayal of women, saying, “It paints the women as shrews… and the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys.” Her blunt comments sparked controversy at the time and were seen as criticism of writer-director Judd Apatow, despite the film being a milestone in her career.

DANIEL CRAIG – QUANTUM OF SOLACE

I feel for actors and directors who were actively working during the 2007–2008 Writers Guild strike, which led to major script problems for films like Quantum of Solace. Although committed to his James Bond role, Daniel Craig later expressed frustration over the film’s weaknesses—namely citing an underdeveloped, “bare-bones” script and a rushed production. While the film received a lukewarm critical reception, it was still financially successful in spite of the lead star’s open criticism.

ALEC GUINNESS – STAR WARS

Knowing how many aspiring actors would kill for the chance to be part of a franchise as huge as Star Wars, it was a shock to learn that actor Alec Guinness disliked the script, the dialogue, and the attention he received from fans. Guinness portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in the hit series, earning him an Oscar nomination, but he still called the globally successful blockbuster “fairy-tale rubbish” and the dialogue “lamentable.

CHRISTOPHER

PLUMMER

– THE SOUND OF MUSIC

At the risk of ruining a beloved classic, fans of The Sound of Music may want to look away for this one. Despite his iconic performance as the dashing Captain von Trapp in the 1965 Oscar-winning musical, Christopher Plummer was not a fan. He famously referred to it as “The Sound of Mucus” and consistently criticized the film for being overly sentimental. Plummer wasn’t particularly fond of its musical charm either—a surprising confession for someone who literally sang his way into movie history! However, with time, he came to appreciate the film’s lasting legacy and cultural impact—even if begrudgingly.

MEGAN FOX – TRANSFORMERS

The 2007 film Transformers was a box office juggernaut and a career launcher for Megan Fox. Her breakout role as Mikaela Banes led to further success, including an MTV Movie Award nomination and a return in the 2009 sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. However, that success didn’t stop Megan from criticizing the film’s emphasis on visuals over acting— comments that led to tension with director Michael Bay and ultimately to her replacement in the series.

ROBERT PATTINSON – TWILIGHT

It goes without saying that the Twilight franchise was a global phenomenon. From launching a billion-dollar franchise to securing one of the most intense fan bases of all time, it might be hard to believe that Robert Pattinson dislikes both the story and his character, Edward Cullen. In fact, he once said of the role, “The more I read the script, the more I hated this guy.” Though the films undeniably boosted his career, he clearly didn’t hold them in high artistic regard.

SHIA LABEOUF – INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

I may be biased when it comes to the next film on our list, because I too was not a fan of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Commercially, the film was another successful addition to the Indiana Jones franchise, but Shia LaBeouf—who portrayed Jones’ son, Mutt Williams—disliked both the script and, surprisingly, his own performance. LaBeouf admitted he felt like he “dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished.” Though the film made money at the box office, many fans—myself included—were disappointed with the highly anticipated sequel, and LaBeouf’s self-criticism only added fuel to the fire.

VIOLA DAVIS - THE HELP

Although Viola Davis received an Oscar nomination for her role as Aibileen Clark in The Help, she has since expressed regret about taking the part. Davis has spoken openly about her dissatisfaction with the film’s narrative, which she felt centered too heavily on its white characters while sidelining the Black voices it claimed to uplift. In an interview with The New York Times, she said the role weighed on her conscience, especially given public criticism that the film overly credited white women for progress in race relations. The actress wishes Aibileen’s voice—and the voices of women like her—had been given more prominence in the final story.

SOFT HUES & NATURALS

Florida’s Summer Swimwear 2025

The July and August 2025 swimwear season in Florida presents a fresh and nuanced celebration of pastel blues harmonized with a palette of flowery tones and natural textures. This summer, designers are drawing inspiration from sunlit coastlines and blooming gardens, blending soft hues like powder blue, lavender, blush, and pale peach to create an inviting and sophisticated aesthetic. Floral patterns, both delicate and bold, flourish across swimsuits, kaftans, and cover-ups, bringing a sense of playful femininity and warmth to summer wardrobes. These motifs range from hand-painted prints to embroidered details, transforming simple swimwear into wearable art that captures the light-hearted spirit of the season.

Complementing these pastel and floral designs, neutral knits take on a prominent role, offering a tactile counterpoint that grounds the collection in understated elegance. Lightweight cotton, linen blends, and crochet-inspired textures feature prominently in beachwear staples like loose cardigans, cropped sweaters, and textured cover-ups. These pieces are crafted to breathe easily in Florida’s summer heat, providing effortless layering options that marry comfort with style. The natural hues— creamy whites, soft beiges, and warm taupes— serve as a versatile canvas that enhances the vibrancy of the pastels and florals while reinforcing a relaxed yet polished silhouette.

Beyond swimwear, the season’s trend extends to complementary summer essentials, including breezy sundresses, wide-brimmed straw hats, and minimalist sandals that seamlessly blend functionality and refined aesthetics. Accessories echo the color story, with subtle floral accents and natural materials such as raffia and smooth leather adding texture and depth. Lightweight scarves and delicate jewelry with organic motifs further enhance the overall look, allowing for smooth transitions from beach days to sunset gatherings with effortless grace. This curated collection emphasizes a balance between vivid prints and serene neutrals, celebrating both the vibrancy and calm of summer living.

Texture and layering remain key themes in this summer’s style narrative. Designers explore sheer fabrics, loose knits, and soft tailoring, often layering translucent pieces over solid swim bases for a look that is both elegant and modern. Swimwear silhouettes showcase a flattering range of shapes—high-waisted bottoms, bandeau tops, and sleek one-pieces— each detailed with subtle floral embroidery or delicate stitching that echoes the season’s natural inspiration. The resulting aesthetic is one of understated sophistication, inviting wearers to embrace summer with a look that feels simultaneously fresh, comfortable, and deeply connected to nature’s gentlest shades.

THE EDIT

MY SUMMER STYLE

Weekend trips are carry-on only, and I’m fully embracing the edit. There’s something liberating about packing light, especially when your destination is as effortless as it is elegant. Whether it’s a float down the lazy river at the Four Seasons Orlando Resort or a beachside escape to the Bahamas, streamlined summer packing is where practicality meets personal style.

My go-to formula always starts with one standout piece, typically a dress or cover-up from PatBo. Their vibrant prints, flattering cuts, and tropical-chic aesthetic make the perfect travel companions. I’ve worn PatBo

from the lazy river at the Four Seasons to the soft-sand beaches in the Bahamas, and every time, I’ve felt ready for both the moment and the memory. These pieces are easy to wear, beautifully made, and built for sunshine. This season, I’m also planning to wear my latest obsession: a white Balmain bodycon dress that’s everything summer chic should be. Crafted from crisp cotton poplin with a sharp shirt collar, it’s sleeveless, backless, and features a full row of the house’s signature gold and silver coin buttons down the front. It’s perfect for upcoming brunches and my trip to Colombia. Structured, striking, and effortlessly elevated.

without oversized sunglasses, and lately, I’ve been loving bold, funky frames from Bottega Veneta. My most treasured piece? My Foundrae butterfly wing necklace, engraved with my daughters’ initials. The wing represents Reverie and the Soul. It’s meaningful, yes, but more importantly, it reminds me of who I carry with me, always.

Then there’s fragrance, because scent sets the tone. This summer, I’m all about Mind Games Cassia. It aims to capture the essence of passion and love, with sensual notes of black licorice, soft florals, and musk. You can pick it up at the ETTE Hotel. It doesn’t just complete a look; it deepens a mood.

My beauty routine is clean, quick, and glow focused. I prep with Westman Atelier’s Vital Skincare Complexion Drops(always SPF, of course), then add Goop Beauty’s Velveteen Glow Balm for that sun-kissed

When it comes to more casual travel, like college visits with my girls or long car rides, I always reach for comfort that doesn’t sacrifice style. Rag & Bone’s Miramar jeans are my secret weapon. They’re ultra-soft and lightweight, with the look of denim but the feel of your favorite lived-in lounge pants. I pair them with my favorite college shirt to show some school spirit, and of course, I’ve already packed my next concert tee: Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour, here I come. Cozy in my denim? Absolutely. For the show itself, I’ve got a look in mind, but I’m still on the hunt for the right cowboy boots and hat (not exactly staples in my closet yet). I’ll likely pair denim shorts with my Balmain long denim dress, worn open like a coat for a dramatic Western spin. Elevated, cool, and completely Cowboy Carter-coded. Once I find the boots, I’m ready to ride. Let’s just say, I’m on that new vibration.

My accessory philosophy is simple and strategic. I always travel in a sneaker—ideal for airports, car rides, and city walks. I pack one sandal for the pool or beach, one classic heel for the evening, and a sleek envelope clutch that fits just my phone and gloss. If it can’t multitask, it doesn’t make the cut. I also never travel

finish. A few dabs of Victoria Beckham’s Concealer Pen by Augustinus Bader where I need a little brightening, and Goop Beauty’s Hydra-Burst Gel Gloss in whatever color I’m feeling that day. A real beauty routine is having a face that smiles and glows with good products, and that story’s coming next time.

So, whether I’m drifting through Orlando, island-hopping in the Bahamas, singing my heart out at a stadium, or making collegetown memories with my daughters, I know I’ve packed what I love and nothing I don’t. Because packing light isn’t just about what you leave behind. It’s about what you get to carry forward.

EFFORTLESS SUMMER CLEAN

July and August 2025 embrace a philosophy of freshness through grooming and effortless dressing. Clean lines begin with clean habits— neatly trimmed hair, a cool rinse at the start of the day, and lightweight products that soften without weighing down. Hair is either tied back with intention or left loose with structure, styled to move with the air. Skin is kept cool and cared for, nails are understated, and fragrance lingers just enough—citrus, vetiver, or salt. The result is quiet confidence: a kind of polish that speaks without raising its voice.

This season, summer dressing centers around breathable textures and unfussy refinement. Simple linens in natural tones do more than clothe—they cool, they move, they elevate. A soft shirt layered open, linen trousers worn loose at the ankle, or a well-pressed set in ivory or stone brings clarity to the heat. Accessories are kept minimal but considered: a clean leather sandal, a tote with shape, or a band to hold the hair back. Style in July and August is not about standing out—it’s about looking well in your element.

Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Menswear Takes a Dreamy Voyage

“Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2025 Menswear Collection captures the essence of a refined journey — blending timeless tailoring with relaxed, contemporary leisurewear from Paris to Miami.”

Louis Vuitton unveils its highly anticipated Pre-Fall 2025 Menswear Collection, brought to life through a captivating campaign helmed by Pharrell Williams. This latest collection takes inspiration from a cross-continental cruise journey, tracing the sartorial evolution from Parisian sophistication to the vibrant, sun-soaked culture of Miami.

Captured through the lens of photographer Rosie Marks and the dynamic videos of Gregoire Dyer, the campaign unfolds in two distinct yet interconnected chapters: the transit wardrobe and the arrival wardrobe.

The Transit Wardrobe: Elegance in Motion

The first chapter pays homage to the classic cruise liner dress code, reimagined with a contemporary edge. Here, Louis Vuitton explores sporty reinterpretations

of formal tailoring alongside luxurious loungewear, perfectly suited for life aboard a seaborne hotel. Fabrics evoke the plush interiors of cruise liners, while subtle graphics reference nautical themes, weaving a thread of maritime heritage throughout the collection. This segment celebrates the refined art of travel dressing — comfortable yet impeccably stylish.

The Arrival Wardrobe: Miami’s Leisure Culture

Upon reaching Miami, the collection seamlessly transitions to reflect the city’s distinctive beach and poolside lifestyle. The lines between daywear and loungewear blur, offering versatile pieces designed for both relaxation and effortless elegance. Elevated craftsmanship amplifies casual off-duty looks, incorporating accessories such as bags, jewelry, sunglasses, and shoes

that complete the sartorial narrative. This chapter embodies a modern leisure aesthetic where sophistication meets the laid-back vibrancy of coastal living.

A Full Spectrum of Style

The Pre-Fall 2025 offering spans ready-to-wear staples, accessories, and statement pieces that invite men to embrace a journey of style — from departure to destination. Louis Vuitton’s latest campaign not only highlights the evolution of menswear but also underscores the brand’s dedication to innovation, luxury, and storytelling.

With this collection, Louis Vuitton sets a new benchmark in menswear, capturing the spirit of adventure and elegance across continents.

In prefacing this introduction, we’d like to offer an observation, which should be of interest to all. Regardless of medical school class rankings, graduates are all referred to as “DOCTOR.”

With this revelation, we should all know that when choosing a physician, one must accept responsibility for adequately researching the doctor he or she is considering.

Within our present day society, most licensed to practice medicine are truly miracle workers whether they are completely restructuring someone’s face or saving a life. As much as we realize that every physician is an asset to our

community, we also know that some have established themselves at the top of their profession and are considered special; these are the ‘elite,’ the very best of the best.

Summer Sunscreen Picks

It is Summer in Orlando and the heat IS on (in more ways than one), and though we may be just at the beginning of summer, we are at the peak of summer-time sunshine. Which means, it’s time to glow! But of course, in the best way possible with the right kind of protection under the sun!

Which brings us to protecting the skin. Ultraviolet (UV) protection is key when protecting your skin from various forms of UV radiation linked to aging, hyperpigmentation and skin cancer. Dermatologists urge individuals, regardless of the amount exposed to UV rays, to shield their skin. It is recommended when shopping for sunscreen, to look for one that contains at least an SPF of 30. With so many options of sunscreen in the market, it can be overwhelming to decide, especially since the formulas vary. The two primary types being mineral vs. chemical SPF.

The good news for you? We narrowed down some of our top picks so that you need not look further! Here’s our top summer choices of sunscreen, keeping in mind everything from ingredients to an overall feel!

Best for the face:

EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 | Category: Mineral

This gentle yet strong oil-free vegan sunscreen is power-packed with niacinamide (vitamin B3), hyaluronic acid and lactic acid - all ingredients that are amazing for healthy-looking skin. In addition, it is super light and can be worn easily under makeup without feeling cakey or clogged.

If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, or suffer from hyperpigmentation and rosacea,

this sunscreen is especially great for you! But overall, the key ingredients are beneficial for all skin types. Other active ingredients include: 9.0% Zinc Oxide, 7.5% Octinoxate.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 | Category: Chemical

Another weightless pick is the Supergoop! Unseen which contains frankincense - a natural ingredient that helps strengthen your skin and provides simultaneous soothing, as well as a complex derived from meadowfoam seed.

This sunscreen goes on invisible with a velvety finish and is great for all skin types - however, if you are on oily end, this sunscreen is especially great for you! Other active ingredients include: Avobenzone, 3%, Homosalate 8%, Istusakate 5%, Octocrylene 4%.

Best for the Body:

Coola Classic Body Organic Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50

Coola is no stranger to the skin game, and their sunscreen is no exception! This SPF 50 sunscreen is fragrance-free and formulated as a lightweight SPF protector that utilizes olesome technology to optimize efficacy. Key ingredients include their Plant Protection mix (Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Buriti Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and Prickly Pear Extract), other ingredients include: Safflower Olesomes, and Neroli Flower Extract, which helps rebalance and hydrate the skin in a calming manner.

Just like Supergoop’s Unseen, It also contains: Avobenzone 1.75%, Homosalate 5.0%, Octisalate 2.0%, Octocrylene 5.0%

BARE Republic Mineral Sunscreen GelLotion SPF 30

BARE delivers on this fragrance-free vegan light-weight overall body sunscreen. The formula is free of parabens and non-GMO. Though the sunscreen is on the lighter side of SPF, it contains great ingredients such as rose oil and calendula oil which help to soothe the skin. The sunscreen is also rich in antioxidants containing raspberry, grape and carrot seed oils.

Best for the lips:

Sun Bum Mineral SPF 30 Lip Balm

You’ve probably heard of the name Sun Bum before, but if you haven’t tried their lip balm sunscreen, it may be time to consider. The best-seller balm includes soothing ingredients like Vitamin E and Shea Butter with the active ingredient being Zinc Oxide 8%.

Coola Classic Liplux Organic Hydrating Lip Oil Sunscreen SPF 30

Coola has made it back on our list with this rich SPF lip oil! Not only does it provide sun protection, it adds a bit of shine too with key ingredients such as: Camellia and Jojoba oils and Vitamin E. The flower extracts work great together to provide lasting moisture.

Other ingredients include: Avobenzone 3.0%, Homosalate 4.0%, Octisalate 4.0%, Octocrylene 10.0%.

Acceleration: 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds

Top Speed: 193mph

Weight Reduction: Up to 47kg lighter with carbon fiber roof; optional magnesium wheels save 41 pounds

Brakes: Carbon ceramic brakes

Transmission: Recalibrated nine-speed automatic

A NEW FLAGSHIP FOR THE SUPERCAR OF SUVS

Aston Martin has redefined the luxury SUV landscape with the DBX S, a flagship model that blends supercar performance with unparalleled elegance. Unveiled on April 30, 2025, in Gaydon, this high-performance marvel builds on the legacy of the DBX707, incorporating cutting-edge technology from the forthcoming Valhalla supercar. The DBX S is not just an SUV—it’s a statement of power, precision, and prestige, continuing Aston Martin’s storied tradition of “S” badged vehicles, a lineage that began with the Vanquish S in 2004.

At the heart of the DBX S lies an upgraded 4.0-liter twinturbo V8 engine, delivering a staggering 727PS and 900Nm of torque. Enhanced with Valhalla-derived turbo technology, including larger compressor wheels, the engine offers explosive performance, propelling the DBX S from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds and shaving 0.3 seconds off the 0-124mph sprint. While its top speed remains a formidable 193mph, a modified exhaust system amplifies the V8’s thunderous roar, ensuring an exhilarating auditory experience that matches its dynamic prowess. This powertrain, paired with a recalibrated nine-speed automatic transmission, delivers razor-sharp responsiveness, making every drive a visceral thrill.

The DBX S isn’t just about raw power—it’s engineered for agility. Lightweight options, such as a carbon fiber roof— the largest ever fitted to an Aston Martin—reduce weight by up to 47kg and lower the center of gravity, enhancing handling precision. Optional magnesium wheels, a first for the SUV segment, further cut unsprung mass by 41 pounds, sharpening cornering dynamics. Carbon fiber accents, available for wing mirrors, side strakes, and sills, reduce weight by an additional 7kg while adding a sleek, modern aesthetic. These innovations ensure the DBX S feels as nimble as a sports car, defying its SUV proportions.

Visually, the DBX S commands attention. A dramatic new front grille and vertically stacked quad exhausts—available in gloss or matt finishes—exude aggression, while reprofiled rear bumpers and diffusers enhance aerodynamics. Distinctive “S” badges, crafted in solid metal with red-infused enamel, nod

to iconic models like the V12 Vantage S. Side sills with up-turned air splitters optimize airflow, blending form and function in true Aston Martin fashion. Inside, the ultra-luxury cockpit features Alcantara and leather, with herringbone seat designs and red seatbelts reinforcing the “S” identity. A state-of-the-art infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensures seamless connectivity, while carbon ceramic brakes and advanced suspension deliver uncompromising control.

The DBX S upholds Aston Martin’s legacy of high-performance “S” models, from the 1953 DB3S racer to the Rapide S. With deliveries expected in late 2025, this SUV redefines what’s possible, offering supercar thrills with everyday practicality. As Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark notes, the DBX S reaffirms the brand’s commitment to “exciting, rewarding, and beautiful cars,” cementing its place as the pinnacle of ultra-luxury performance.

"The DBX S redefines what’s possible, offering supercar thrills with everyday practicality."

ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS

One Way to Manage Investment Risk

Looking for a way to manage portfolio risk? Alternative investments may be a good choice.

An alternative investment is loosely defined as an investment in something other than publicly traded, long-only stocks, bonds or cash. Alternative investments are typically used to diversify an investor’s portfolio. The alternative investment world is primarily made up of three buckets: real assets, private equity and hedge funds. Real assets could include things such as real estate, timber or infrastructure. Private equity may include private equity funds and venture capital. Hedge funds can provide exposure to investment strategies that typically have less correlation to equity and fixed income markets.

But every investment has its own share of risk, and alternative investments are no exception. Some of the common risk factors include:

• Higher fees

• Diverse investment structure, from registered mutual funds to less regulated structures such as limited partnerships

• Valuation risk – the value of the investment may fluctuate

• Leverage risk – leverage can cut both ways; in a good year it may enhance returns, but it can also magnify losses

• Illiquidity risk – getting capital back is driven by the terms of the structure in which you have invested

Because of these characteristics, due diligence is necessary before buying alternative investments.

Alternative investments as part of a portfolio

There are a number of ways to diversify a portfolio to reduce risk. These include owning stocks from different sectors, bonds from different issuers with different credit ratings and maturities, or a variety of both equity and fixed income investments.

Adding alternative investments to a portfolio is another way investors could

reduce risk exposure. These investments are known as “non-correlated asset classes,” meaning they are less likely to experience the ups and downs of the stock, bond and cash markets.

Another option for investors may be investing in a mutual fund that holds alternative investments. This would provide diversification, as well as the professional management associated with any mutual fund.

Know the risks and seek advice

Alternative investments are not for every investor, and it’s important to understand the risks and considerations before making a purchase. They are subject to different securities industry regulations, so due diligence is critical.

Seek the advice of a financial advisor before making decisions regarding the addition of alternative investments to your portfolio. They can provide guidance about investments that may be appropriate based on your individual circumstances, goals, risk tolerance and liquidity needs.

Investing in alternative investments may be speculative, illiquid and not suitable for all investors. They are intended for investors who meet certain criteria and are willing and able to bear the unique economic risks of the investment. Investors should consider whether such investments are suitable in the light of their individual financial situation.
