ERSKINE STUART ALUMNAE RECOGNITION AWARDS As part of our Saint Madeleine Sophie Day celebrations, Stuartholme and the Stuartholme Sacré Coeur Association (SSCA) honoured an outstanding Alumna through the annual Erskine Stuart Alumnae Recognition Award, announced at the SSCA Cocktail Party held on Friday 21 May. The Award aims to recognise the achievements and successes of our past students. This year, we were thrilled to award the prize to the Honourable Mary Finn (née Foley) Class of 1963.

The Honourable Mary Finn (née Foley) Class of 1963 Mary Finn attended Stuartholme School from 1952 to 1963, following her mother who also attended Stuartholme. Her passion for learning was greatly encouraged by the rscJ and in 1964, started her Arts Law degree at the University of Queensland. Mary was only one of seven women among 100 first year students and only one of three who graduated. After graduating, Mary was employed by the Queensland Office of Crown Law, during which time she was admitted as a barrister, only the sixth woman in the state to accomplish this feat. Mary is well known for her contribution to the review of the Family Law Act of 1975 and from this was regarded as one of Australia’s leading experts on the Family Law Act. It was this experience that led to Mary’s appointment as a judge, a role she held until her retirement in 2016.
