We have these performances, artists, arts education programs and philanthropy opportunities to look forward to, each one representing a chance to share our love of the performing arts with you and, we hope, many other people who may be encountering The Straz experience for the first time.

Since beginning her career covering such stories as the conflict in Kosovo and the disputed Pakistan-India border, photojournalist Ami Vitale let one principle guide her work: live the story. She’s gone to tremendous lengths to capture the power of the human spirit even in the face of adversity, including living in mud huts and braving civil war in GuineaBissau. Eventually, another philosophy emerged: talking about humanity means talking about nature. Parking at the Straz Center We suggest parking in the Poe Garage, which is on N. Ashley Drive between W. Cass Street and W. Gasparilla Plaza. A portion of the parking fees supports the maintenance of the Straz Center.

Convenient surface parking lots are on North W.C. MacInnes Place (Times Building lot), Fortune Street (Barrymore Hotel lot) and at the corner of Cass Street and Tampa Street with the entrance on Tampa Street (TECO lot).

Metered spaces may be available along surrounding streets.

Valet services are available at the Arrival Plaza off Tyler Street. Space is limited.

Parking is first-come, first-served.

STRAZ ACCESS Part of our community commitment includes ensuring accessibility for all Straz Center patrons. We are happy to accommodate our patrons’ abilities, and we provide specific services available for each show.

If you need sign language interpretation, please call 813.229.7827 at least two weeks in advance of your show so we can secure a sign language performer for you. To meet this need for our Bank of America Best of Broadway Tampa series, the first Thursday night of each Broadway show is an interpreted performance.

Throughout our campus, you will find easy wheelchair access, including water fountains and ticket counters at appropriate heights as well as theater seating designed for space and ease. To purchase wheelchair-accessible seats, call a customer service representative at 813.229.7827 or look for the designation when you order online at strazcenter.org. We also have bariatric wheelchairs and seating available that can be requested when purchasing your tickets over the phone or in person.

In Morsani Hall, Ferguson Hall and the Jaeb Theater, we offer infrared listening system wireless headphones at no charge though a driver’s license or $10 refundable deposit (cash or major credit card) are needed to check out the headphones.

For companion restrooms, visit any level of Morsani Hall or the Orchestra level of Ferguson Hall. You will find accessible stalls in all restrooms on our campus.

THE STRAZ CENTER COMMUNITY TICKET PROGRAM

Because the performing arts are so vital to the human experience, we always want to encourage people to come to The Straz to see the shows and artists who move them, pique their curiosity or somehow inspire their own lives. So, we created many ways to make tickets available— specifically for members of our community who might not have the budget for full ticket office price.

If you can’t make the show but don’t want your tickets to go to waste, repurpose your empty seats into the chance of a lifetime by donating them to OPERATION TICKETS. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt equal to the value of your tickets.

Operation Tickets offers solutions, from complimentary to deeply discounted tickets, in these specific avenues: • The Rachel Lisi Ticket Subsidy Fund Rachel Lisi, a beloved member of the Lisi family and the Straz Center staff, passed away on Nov. 10, 2010. To honor her memory, a devoted

group of Straz Center donors and employees established this endowed fund that assists low-income and underserved individuals and families by providing tickets to Straz Center performances.

• RUSH! The Straz Those on the front lines deserve to be front-of-the-line for special Straz Center rush tickets. So, if you’re an educator, student, senior, military personnel or first responder, you have all day to purchase discounted, otherwise “last minute” tickets for select shows. We appreciate you racing the clock elsewhere, but for this special discount specifically for you, we’re fine if you decide to take all day.

• Other Discounts and Community Tickets In addition to RUSH! The Straz, we offer a special educators’ discount for many shows and we have a select number of free and reduced-priced community tickets available to qualified students, community partnerships and other non-profit agencies.

This past year, the Straz Center also shared our ambitious master plan vision – a vision that will allow us to continue such outstanding programming and grow in our scope and depth. This master plan will allow us to grow as an international cultural destination as well as sustain the caliber of work that makes us a place of great pride for our local and regional community. We see ourselves as a home of cultural exchange, community inspiration and economic integrity that serves as a live-action force on the Riverwalk.
