Designing a new home is an exciting journey, and staying current with the latest trends can transform your space from standard to Amy Offerman stunning. If you're looking for inspiration, we've gathered the top design elements that are making waves in modern home construction. From the comforting embrace of warm, natural wood tones and the artistic flair of statement light fixtures to the playful elegance of fun tile patterns, these trends are shaping the future of interior design. Here are the trends to watch.

Warm woods are making a major comeback, bringing a sense of nature and comfort into the home. This trend moves beyond flooring to become a feature in itself. You can see it on exterior siding, as shiplap on a great room fireplace, or adding character to ceilings in the owner's bedroom and sunroom. Natural wood tones also appear in kitchen cabinetry and as structural ceiling beams in stairwells, creating a cohesive, organic feel throughout the house.

Lighting is no longer just functional; it's a form of art. Statement light fixtures act as the jewelry of a room, drawing the eye and setting the mood. Large, sculptural chandeliers in the sunroom or a series of elegant pendants over the kitchen island can define a space. A unique fixture in a flex room can also add a touch of personality and purpose to a versatile area.

Homeowners are getting creative with tile to inject personality into traditionally practical spaces. From the owner's shower to the laundry room floor, bold and playful patterns are taking center stage. You’ll also find fun tile making a splash in upstairs bathrooms, both on the floor and in the shower or tub surrounds. This is a fantastic way to add a pop of color and visual interest without overwhelming a room.

For a clean, seamless, and luxurious look, the slab backsplash is becoming a go-to choice in high-end kitchens. Instead of using traditional tiles, a single, continuous piece of stone or quartz extends from the countertop up the wall. This creates a dramatic, unbroken surface that is both beautiful and incredibly easy to clean, making it a perfect blend of form and function.
Also known as a scullery or working pantry, the prep kitchen is the ultimate solution for those who love to entertain. Tucked away behind the main kitchen, this secondary space is designed to keep the mess out of sight. It's the perfect spot for small appliances, extra storage, a second sink, or a place to plate dishes, ensuring your main kitchen remains a pristine and welcoming space for guests.

At Stonegate Builders, design is more than aesthetics, it’s about creating homes that inspire, function beautifully, and reflect our commitment to quality. Our design process is twofold: crafting model and spec homes that set the tone for our brand and guiding clients through the exciting journey of personalizing their dream homes.
Our lead designer shapes the vision for every Stonegate home, from model homes to quick move-ins. Each model home is meticulously curated with finishes, palettes, and furnishings that reflect both current trends and timeless style, inspiring buyers with spaces that feel livable and aspirational.

Design standards are established to ensure cohesive exterior and interior aesthetics across neighborhoods, creating visual harmony while allowing each home to maintain its individuality. Quick move-in homes are elevated with carefully selected finishes that appeal to a wide audience, blending market trends with Stonegate’s signature design details to deliver move-in-ready homes that feel custom.
Collaboration is key to our process. The designer works closely with architects, sales, marketing, and construction teams to ensure the design intent is carried through from concept to completion. By staying ahead of trends in colors, materials, and furnishings, we keep our homes fresh, forwardthinking, and competitive. Every detail, from layouts to lighting, balances beauty with practicality to meet the needs of modern families.

For our client-facing designers, the goal is to be a trusted guide throughout the home design process. We understand the emotions tied to building a new home and treat every project as if it were our own.
Our role is to simplify the process, helping clients select finishes that align with their personal style, budget, and functional needs. We handle the stressors, ensuring clients can enjoy the experience of bringing their vision to life. With Stonegate, every design appointment is backed by a proven process and a commitment to quality that has defined our success.
There’s nothing like the energy of a design appointment where ideas come together—it’s a special moment we’re privileged to share with our clients, partners, and team.

From setting the tone with model homes to personalizing client spaces, our design team ensures every Stonegate home reflects thoughtful design, timeless style, and the needs of the families who live there.

At Stonegate Builders, we believe a home is more than just a structure; it’s a cornerstone of the community and a legacy for your family. Our foundation is built on a deep-seated pride in our Minnesota roots. This pride influences everything we do—where we build, how we build, and the lasting impression we leave long after a project is complete. We hold ourselves to the highest standards, ensuring that every home we create is a testament to quality craftsmanship and lasting value.
Our commitment begins with a simple, powerful idea: supporting local. We partner with local trades and vendors who share our dedication to excellence. By choosing Minnesota-made products, we not only invest in our local economy but also ensure that every material meets our exacting criteria for performance and longevity. We meticulously select high-performance materials and employ superior building techniques to protect your investment and provide a home that stands the test of time. This focus on quality is not just a business strategy; it’s a promise to our clients.

This dedication to local partnerships and superior materials is what allows us to build homes of distinction. It connects us to a rich history of Minnesota craftsmanship and allows us to bring authentic, high-quality elements into the modern home. One such partnership we are particularly proud of is our collaboration with Manomin Resawn Timbers, a company that shares our passion for heritage and quality. Their work in reclaiming a piece of history aligns perfectly with our mission to build homes with enduring character and value.

In an era of convenient, mass-produced materials, the opportunity for homeowners to incorporate natural, character-rich elements into their homes has become increasingly rare. Manomin Resawn Timbers, founded in Minnesota in 2002, emerged to counter this trend. Their mission is to provide homeowners with a connection to the past through the timeless beauty of reclaimed wood, a philosophy that resonates deeply with Stonegate’s own commitment to lasting quality.
Manomin is dedicated to salvaging a piece of American history. Every piece of wood they refinish is carefully salvaged from structures built during the rapid expansion of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The barns, factories, and warehouses from this period were constructed using old-growth timbers of a size and quality that modern forestry can no longer produce. This superior raw material, rich with the patina of time, allows Manomin to offer a product that is not just beautiful, but also a sustainable piece of history.
This shared vision for quality and heritage made the collaboration between Stonegate Builders and Manomin Resawn Timbers a natural fit. We were thrilled to partner with them on our very first home in our newest neighborhood, Creekside at Huntersbrook. The project was an opportunity to showcase how reclaimed materials can elevate a modern home, infusing it with warmth and unparalleled character.

In this showcase home, the historic wood from Manomin became a central design feature. We integrated stunning reclaimed wood beams into the great room, kitchen, and master bedroom, creating powerful architectural focal points. To add texture and a sense of history, we paneled the ceilings in the sunroom, office, master bath, and wet bar with the same reclaimed wood. The result is a home that perfectly balances modern luxury with rustic authenticity, a space that is uniquely its own and built to be cherished for generations. This collaboration is a perfect example of how choosing local, quality-focused partners allows us to build homes with a story.

Our seasoned project managers bring years of expertise to every build, overseeing daily progress, guiding subcontractors, and addressing issues in real time. By prioritizing on-site leadership, we ensure construction stays on track and exceeds basic building codes.
In addition to project managers, our Quality Assurance Manager performs milestone inspections at critical stages, from foundation pours to final finishes This two-tiered system ensures no detail is overlooked and every home is built to last

Cauliflower Soup*
Recipe from Cooking & Kate
Ingredients
1 large head cauliflower (about 2 pounds), cut into bite-size florets
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
Fine sea salt
1 medium red onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
4 cups (32 ounces) vegetable broth
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or more if needed
Scant ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
For garnish: 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, chives and/or green onions
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. If desired, line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
2. On the baking sheet, toss the cauliflower with 2 tablespoons of the olive oil until lightly and evenly coated in oil. Arrange the cauliflower in a single layer and sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake until the cauliflower is tender and caramelized on the edges, 25 to 35 minutes, tossing halfway.
3. Once the cauliflower is almost done, in a Dutch oven or soup pot, warm the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat until shimmering. Add the onion and ¼ teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened and turning translucent, 5 to 7 minutes.
4. Add the garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 30 seconds, then add the broth.
5. Reserve 4 of the prettiest roasted cauliflower florets for garnish. Then transfer the remaining cauliflower to the pot. Increase the heat to mediumhigh and bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat as necessary to maintain a gentle simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes, to give the flavors time to meld.
6. Once the soup is done cooking, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, carefully transfer the hot soup to a blender, working in batches if necessary. (Do not fill past the maximum fill line or the soup could overflow!)
7. Add the butter and blend until smooth. Add the lemon juice and nutmeg and blend again. Add additional salt, to taste (I usually add another ¼ to ¾ teaspoon, depending on the broth). This soup tastes amazing once it’s properly salted! You can also a little more lemon juice, if it needs more zing. Blend again.
8. Top individual bowls of soup with 1 roasted cauliflower floret and a sprinkle of chopped parsley, green onion and/or chives This soup keeps well in the refrigerator, covered, for about four days, or for several months in the freezer.

3. In a large bowl, mix brown sugar and butter with a wooden spoon until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until smooth. Add one-third of flour mixture and stir until combined. Repeat with remaining flour mixture. Scoop batter into prepared pan, spreading to corners of pan.
4. In a small bowl, stir caramel, espresso powder, and 1/2 teaspoon spice mix until smooth. Dollop caramel mixture over blondie mixture. Using a toothpick or tip of a knife, swirl caramel mixture into blondie mixture. 5. Bake blondies until center is no longer moist, 40 to 45 minutes.
6. Meanwhile, place tea bags in a mug or heatproof bowl and pour 8 ounces boiling water over. Let steep 30 minutes.
7. In small bowl, whisk confectioners' sugar, 4 tablespoons tea, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon spice mix until smooth. Add an additional tablespoon of tea if needed.
8. Let blondies cool in pan 10 minutes. Using parchment overhang, lift blondies from pan, transfer to a cutting board, and cut into squares. Drizzle with chai glaze.

GRETA SCHNECKENBERGER
The building industry has always been shaped by innovation. From the first power tools to 3D modeling software, every generation has introduced technologies that make homes stronger, smarter, and faster to build. Today, two of the most transformative tools in the builder’s toolbox aren’t hammers or saws—they’re drones and artificial intelligence (AI). Together, these technologies are reshaping how projects are planned, managed, and delivered.

Once considered a novelty, drones are now becoming a common sight over construction sites. At Stonegate, we use them to quickly survey land, monitor progress, and capture aerial imagery that would have required hours of work or even a helicopter just a few years ago
High-resolution cameras and mapping software allow drones to generate 3D site models and topographic maps within minutes. This saves surveyors and project managers valuable time while reducing costs. Drones also make jobsites safer, allowing teams to inspect hard-to-reach areas like rooftops or multi-story framing without putting workers at risk.
For homeowners and clients, drone footage offers a new level of transparency. Progress updates can now be shared through sweeping aerial videos or detailed images, helping homeowners feel connected to their project every step of the way.

The combination of drones and AI is particularly powerful when the two work together. Drone data can feed directly into AI systems, giving builders real-time insights into progress, quality control, and safety. The result is a smarter, faster, and more reliable building process.
Keeping the Human Touch
While these technologies are impressive, they’re not replacing the craftsmanship and expertise of builders. Instead, they’re tools that extend what’s possible. A drone can map a site, but it takes a skilled builder to turn that land into a home. AI can crunch numbers and schedules, but it can’t replicate the experience of a seasoned project manager who knows how to keep a crew motivated.
Artificial intelligence is finding its place across all stages of the homebuilding process. In design, AIpowered software can analyze zoning codes, site conditions, and architectural preferences to generate floor plan options in seconds. This helps both builders and buyers explore possibilities faster than traditional drafting alone.
On the jobsite, AI-driven project management tools are streamlining schedules and resource planning By analyzing real-time data, these systems can flag potential delays before they happen, recommend efficient crew allocation, and even predict material shortages. For builders juggling multiple jobs, that level of foresight can prevent costly setbacks.
AI is also beginning to play a role in sustainability. By crunching energy data, it can recommend materials and building practices that reduce waste and improve efficiency, helping homes meet stricter environmental standards.

At the end of the day, drones and AI aren’t about replacing people, they’re about empowering them. By taking on timeconsuming, repetitive, or risky tasks, these technologies free builders to focus on what they do best: creating homes that families will enjoy for generations.

Underperforming windows and doors can lead to increased energy bills and expensive repairs. The extreme climate in Minnesota demands windows and doors that are engineered to withstand the elements.
