Dear Families & Friends,
I hope this finds you all well and that you enjoyed many moments of sunshine & laughter with your children throughout the holidays Earlier in the year, on behalf of Catholic Education WA, I informed families that in 2027, all Catholic schools will be implementing a 3-week holiday in July.
In order for this to happen, whilst still ensuring that students meet the required number of instructional minutes throughout the school year, the following changes will be implemented beginning 2027: Students in Catholic schools will commence 2 days earlier than Department of Education schools Students in Catholic schools will have 2 less pupil free days during the school term.
At St Michael’s, we will add 2 minutes to each day Our official start time will be 8:38am Gates will open at 8:20am and classroom doors will open at 8:30am, as is current practice, however, the attendance role will be taken at 8:38am instead of 8:40am.

Our Mercy Week Liturgy at the end of Term 3 was a beautiful celebration of compassion, unity and the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy. Students and staff gathered in prayer and reflection, honouring the values that guide our school community. It was a meaningful moment to pause, give thanks and recommit to living Mercy every day.

During Mercy Week, students from junior and senior classes paired up for a meaningful buddy Jubilee Pilgrimage. Together, they explored 20 significant sites around the school and church, reflecting on our Mercy heritage through guided activities and shared moments. It was a powerful experience of connection, learning and living Mercy side by side.

We wrapped up Term 3 with joyful Mercy Day celebrations, bringing our whole school community together in a sea of blue to honour the spirit of Mercy. The day featured a vibrant assembly, exciting stalls and plenty of fun activities that showcased compassion, creativity and connection It was a fitting finale to Mercy Week - full of heart, laughter and school spirit!

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff and parents who generously gave their time, energy and support to help make Mercy Week run so smoothly. Your behindthe-scenes efforts ensured every activity, celebration and moment of reflection was meaningful and memorable We’re so grateful for your contribution to this special week in our school community!

Congratulations to our Interschool Athletics team for an outstanding performance, finishing 2nd place overall! The team showed incredible determination, sportsmanship and school spirit across every event. We’re so proud of their achievements and the way they represented St Michael’s with pride and passion.

WA Bike Month is rolling along with great energy at St Michael’s! Each day this week, more students have been riding their bikes and scooters to school, filling our bike racks and hearts with excitement. With two bikes and nine goody bags full of awesome prizes up for grabs, the enthusiasm is contagious!
