Celebrating Mercy Week
TUESDAY 23 - THURSDAY 25 SEPTEMBER
Mercy Week begins on Monday 22 September with a Mercy Liturgy led by our Year 6 MJR Ministry, held outside Year One in front of the Mercy arches at 9:00am. Families and community members are warmly invited to join us. Throughout the week, buddy classes will take part in a Mercy Pilgrimage around the school grounds - exploring our Mercy heritage through artefacts, artworks, plaques and stories that honour the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy.
Buddy classes will participate in a St Michael’s School Pilgrimage to celebrate Mercy Week and the 2025 Jubilee Year
On Friday 26 September, students are encouraged to wear blue in celebration of Mercy Gold coin donations will be sent to the Sisters of Mercy. The day will include a Year 6 Assembly at 9:00am, followed by stalls after recess and a delicious sausage sizzle thanks to our amazing P&F team.

As we approach the final week of Term 3, we pause to give thanks for the learning, laughter and growth we ’ ve shared as a school community. We thank You for the friendships that have deepened, the challenges that have helped us grow and the moments of grace that have reminded us of Your presence
As we prepare to celebrate Mercy Day, we remember the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy and their unwavering commitment to compassion, justice and service. May their example inspire us to be people of mercy - kind in word, generous in spirit and courageous in love. Amen

We’re thrilled to announce that ‘Ride & Shine at St Michael’s’ has been awarded a Bike Month Grant from the Department of Transport Throughout October, every time a student scoots or rides to school, they will receive a raffle ticket. On October 31, we will draw winners for some amazing bike and scooter-related prizes. Special thanks to Your Move for providing us with this opportunity.

The canteen will be trialling a homemade ‘Pasta Lunch Special’ next week on Tuesday 23 September. The cost is $8.00 for homemade pasta and a drink. Students can choose between Carbonara or Penne Bolognaise. The drink choices are water, juice box, strawberry milk, chocolate milk or plain milk All orders to be placed via Quickcliq by 8.30am Tuesday 23 September. If this trial is successful, we look forward to offering more lunch specials in the future

Book Week was a celebration of imagination and storytelling, with students diving into their favourite books and characters.
The Parade was a colourful highlight, showcasing creative costumes from Kindy to Year 6. It was a joyful reminder of the power of reading to inspire and connect us all
The Extreme Reading Challenge brought out some wild and wonderful entries, with students reading in the most unexpected places! We were blown away by the creativity and enthusiasm across all year levels. Congratulations to our winners - your love of reading truly went to the next level!
Our Book Fair was a huge hit with 189 sales totalling $6,712.93! Thanks to all the purchases, we earned $2,013.50 in Scholastic rewards to boost our literacy budget. Big thanks to Hannah Lalor and her amazing team of helpers for organising and running the event!
Open Night 2025 was a huge success! A massive thank you to all the families and community members who joined us - it was wonderful to celebrate the partnership we share in your child’s learning journey. From Kindy to Year 6, every classroom looked incredible, showcasing creativity, growth and pride in learning.
The Book Fair in the library was the cherry on top, adding excitement and supporting our literacy goals. We’re so proud of our students and grateful for the support of our school community. St Michael’s is leading the way in learning, connection and celebration!
Our Year 5 & 6 students had an incredible excursion exploring the Art Gallery of Western Australia and discovering hidden gems on a Perth City Art Tour with Oh Hey WA. From Yagan Square to Wolf Lane, creativity was everywhere! Thanks to the Your Move initiative, they travelled sustainably catching the train to and from the city.
Huge thanks to Georgia and the Team from NRL for running free clinics for our Year 2, 3, 4 & 6 students! The sessions were energetic, inclusive and a fantastic way to build skills, teamwork and confidence.
The Colour Run raised $23,899! The Book Fair made $2013.50 profit! The 1920s Quiz Night made $7089 profit! Athletics Carnival Cake Stall made $3863.86 profit!

Every year Dental Health Services offers parents and carers the chance to register their kids for free dental care at the School Dental Service. The offer is open to every student from the year they turn 5 until their 17th birthday and includes check-ups, fillings and simple extractions.
