MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families & Friends,

I write this newsletter with the warmest heart, after spending the morning with the Dads, Grandads and special men of our St Michael’s community. Our community is truly blessed to have such a present and involved parent body. Sincere thanks to the Mums who organised today’s breakfast, those who came early to cook and setup, to the Cocking and Fischer familes for your generous donation and to Mrs Marzo, Ms Greeve and the Pre-Primary Class for a beautiful Father’s Day Assembly.

Congratulations to Morahan for winning our Faction Athletics Carnival and to Mercy for winning the Endeavour Award. The sportsmanship and determination our students showed in their track and field events was truly inspiring Thank you to Mrs Siciliano for preparing our students so well and for organising an amazing carnival.

Just a reminder that next week we celebrate Book Week. Families and friends are invited to attend our Book Week Assembly at 9:00am on Monday, and everyone is invited to visit the Library to purchase books from our Book Fair The Library will be open from 8:20am – 8:50am and 2:45pm – 3:30pm Monday and Tuesday, and until 5:30pm on Wednesday. Wednesday is also Open Night and families are invited to visit their child’s classroom to see some of the amazing work they have created across this term.

Wishing all of the men in our St Michael’s community a very special Father’s Day.

FAITH FOR THE JOURNEY

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the gift of our school community – for the students who bring joy and energy to each day, for the staff who guide with wisdom and love, and for the families who support us in all we do

As we celebrate Father's Day this Sunday, we offer a special prayer of thanks for all fathers, grandfathers and father-figures in our lives.

May You bless them with strength, patience and kindness. Help them to be a reflection of Your love and a source of safety, courage and joy for their families Amen.

STAFF PD DAY

Staff began their professional development day with a powerful First Nations learning session at WA Museum Boola Bardip, deepening cultural understanding and reflection. The day continued with a meaningful Mercy Pilgrimage, walking to eight significant sites across the city that connect to our Mercy heritage and mission.

FACTION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Our Athletics Carnival was a vibrant celebration of sport, teamwork and community spirit. Students from Kindy to Year 6 competed in both track and field events, earning points toward their faction totals. The impressive cake stall, hotdogs, and bacon and egg rolls - courtesy of our amazing P&F - kept everyone energised throughout the day.

FACTION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Volunteers played vital roles as chefs, organisers, starters, finish line assistants and cheer squad, ensuring the event ran smoothly from set-up to pack-down. Congratulations to our Athletics Carnival Champions, whose effort and enthusiasm truly stood out. Our amazing Physical Education teacher Mrs Siciliano did a wonderful job to ensure the day was an outstanding success.

FATHER’S DAY MORNING

Our Father's Day morning was filled with warmth and laughter as families gathered to enjoy a delicious breakfast of bacon and egg rolls donated by the Cocking and Fischer families. Dads and kids teamed up for fun games, shared silly jokes, and competed for exciting prizes that brought out plenty of smiles.

FATHER’S DAY MORNING

Pre-Primary students stole the show with a gorgeous Father's Day assembly, proudly performing songs and sharing heartfelt messages. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces, creating memories that will last well beyond the day Wishing all our wonderful dads a very Happy Father's Day this Sunday!

BASSENDEAN LIBRARY VISITS

Some of our senior students had the wonderful opportunity to meet acclaimed children’s authors Gabriel Evans and Sharon Giltrow at the Bassendean Memorial Library. Both authors shared valuable insights into their creative processes, storytelling journeys and the magic behind their books - sparking imagination and encouraging students to explore their own writing and illustration talents.
