MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families & Friends,

Congratulations to all our amazing students for their wonderful start to the year. From our new Pre-Kindy students through to our brilliant Year 6 leaders, our students have started 2025 in the most impressive way.

This weekend, all students who will be celebrating Sacraments this year, are asked to attend one of the Parish Sacramental Commitment Masses. Either Saturday at 6:00pm or Sunday at 9:00am. Please keep these children from Years 3, 4 and 6 in your thoughts & prayers throughout the year as they prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

This coming Monday 24 February at 6:00pm, we will be holding our first P&F Meeting for the year. The meeting is open to all parents and guardians from Pre-Kindy right through to Year 6. It would be wonderful to see as many people there as possible to support our P&F Executive with everything they have planned for 2025.

May you all have a lovely week ahead.

OFF TO A GREAT START!

All of the students from PreKindy to Year 6 have had the most amazing start to the school year. Our motto of ‘Together We Shine’ is embedded into everything we do at St Michael’s School.

SPECIAL AND UNIQUE

Our Year Two students loved being creative in the first Visual Art lesson for the year. After looking at their features closely in a mirror, and discussing their gifts and talents with a partner, the elements of line, shape and colour were used to create masterpieces!

YOUR MOVE

We are delighted to announce that we have received a massive grant from the Department of Transport and Your Move This will cover the cost of a four-week bike education course for our students in Years 3-6 More information to follow in the coming weeks!

A Note From The School Health Nurse

School Health Nurses work in schools to promote healthy development and wellbeing so students may reach their full potential. A major part of my work is focused on early intervention and the School Entry Health Assessment program. Additionally, the nurse can be contacted at any time throughout primary school if you have concerns about your child’s health, development or wellbeing.

School Health Nurses serve as a health contact point for children and their families, providing information, assessment, health counselling and referral. They also work in partnership with schools to support teachers in health-related curriculum and can assist in the development of health care plans for students with complex and chronic health needs.

The services provided are free and confidential. Please contact me on 0456837516 or melanie.gacer@health.wa.gov.au

Raising Children Network

Children are as individual and as different as their parents and making decisions about what’s best for raising children is very personal

The Raising Children website offers up-to-date, research-based material on more than 800 topics spanning child development, behaviour, health, nutrition, and fitness, play and learning, connecting and communicating, school and education, entertainment and technology, sleep and safety. It covers grown-ups, newborns, babies, toddlers, preschools, school-age children, pre-teens and early teens

There are tips, videos, and other useful resources.

The Raising Children Network provides information that can help parents with the day-to-day decisions of raising children. It also provides information to help parents and carers look after their own needs. The information is based on the best science in parenting, child health and development, presented in language we can all understand

This is a website for Australian mothers, fathers, grandparents, and anyone else who has responsibility for the care of children.
