Today ismy birthday Today isalso theday my classand I say goodbyeto APALAPP, Derby Days, General Tso?s chicken, ?Day by Day? and so much more Today is the bittersweet day that I get to announce Tatler?s senior print edition, the Class of 2023?s Senior Legacies In making this print, a question I constantly asked the senior class and teachers was: ?What is our legacy?? In ?Hamilton,? Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote, ?Legacy What is a legacy? It?s planting seeds in a garden that you never get to see? I disagree with this, though, because our legacy lives in the pews of the chapel, in the classrooms and in thecoming yearsas wego forth with joy For those of uswho were here across the street, our legacy livesin thefairy housesand playing Camp A on theplayground, and in our meetings with teachersfor being too loud aswewent from theclassroom to theart room Our legacy livesin the battle of Land Between the Lakes, in four square, in the inner beauty of Jane Eyre, in our Ancient History graphic organizers and in our Ensemble class dances It lives in the cookie dough and the canolaoil, in being sent homebecauseof thepandemic freshman year and coming back, ready to take on theBielskis, Lyon and Dunlap trio It livesin our junior year Derby Day cheer, our iconic GroupMe conversations, thesenior den graffiti wall and our bedbug couches Wehavebeen planting seedsfor the last 15years, andthegardenhasgrownbeautifully

I asked thesenior classin aform to providemewith small phrasesthat reminded them of our grade, and two of the most common responses were along the lines of ?unexpectedly stellar? and ?resilient ? Time and time again, we have shown the world what the Class of 2023 is capable of, and we will continue to do so in the coming years While I tried to fit as much of our legacy into this print as possible, there is so much more to this class than can be put on paper Afterall, we are the best you?ll ever see

In thewordsof Taylor Alison Swift, ?Long liveall themountainswemoved I hadthetimeof my life fighting dragonswith you? May we continue to fight dragons together, even if at a distance, and may our legacy continueto liveon past thehallsof theschool and into our prospectiveuniversities, careers andlives

I was honored to create this print, but moreimportantly, I?m glad I got to spend my last birthday at St Mary?swithmy favoriteeggyolks
