Leavers Gift of 2022

An everlasting gift of opportunity

Giving another girl the opportunity to experience St Margaret’s College prompted our 2022 school leavers to help fund a future student.

Each year, the Year 13 students provide a leaving gift to the school. Past gifts include the swimming pool sun shade, outdoor seats and a bronze tree statue.

Sienna McEwan, former Senior School Prefect, says her cohort wanted to show their commitment to future generations at SMC.

“We decided to contribute to a scholarship through the SMC Foundation. This reflects the values and ideals that the Class of 2022 stood for. We wanted to be remembered as students who were meaningful and purposeful in our altruism, and we wanted to craft a legacy that would be actively felt for years to come.

“By using our Leavers Gift to contribute to a scholarship, we had the ability to give the gift of a St Margaret's education to a young girl who would otherwise be unable to experience the community of opportunity fostered at SMC,” Sienna says.

Foundation Manager Erin Reeve says “the gifts symbolise the girls’ gratitude to the school and commitment to its future.

This latest gift was something a little different but it certainly fits the brief of an everlasting gift that will enhance the legacy of SMC.”

The gift is recognised by a plaque on one of the steps of Charles Luney Auditorium, where it will be constantly seen by current and future students fortunate enough to join the SMC family.

Sienna fondly remembers her time at SMC.

“Our year group was very close. In the last two years, especially, we really came together in a special way. We were a big friend group there to support each other. There was a real family feeling and we wanted to give that to someone else.”

Our thanks to the Leavers of 2022 for their support.
