TEACHER OVERVIEWS TERM 4 2022 St Joseph’s Payneham 2023 Education Centre

Welcome to the Term 4 learning for STEM. This term, the students will be engaging in Scientific Journals, different types of animations, Augmented Reality and 3D Printing.

The students will be using programs such as AR Makr, Stop Motion Studio, Reality Composer and Tinkercad.

RECEPTION

Students will be introduced to scientific journals, where they will record the details of their observation of different types of pollution and conduct scientific experiments.

Students will be exploring Augmented Reality (AR) by placing their digital creations in the real world environment. Students will learn that living things require their needs to be met for survival Students will then use the engineering process to design a digital enclosure for an animal and display it using the Augmented Reality software, ‘AR Makr’.

Students will be introduced to Digital Animation. Students will create their own hand drawn artwork and upload it to an artificial intelligence software to create a digital animated puppet where they can animate their character to perform different actions.

Students will be introduced to Stop Animation. Students will be creating a stop motion animation using the software, ‘Stop Motion Studio’ on the iPad. They will demonstrate their knowledge by focusing their stop motion animation around the lunar cycle (Phases of the moon).

Students will be introduced to Stop Animation. Year 4’s will learn and use the software, ‘Stop Motion Studio’ Students will repeat the process of moving 2D or 3D objects slightly and take a photo. By sequencing the images rapidly, students will be able to create the illusion of movement and telling stories

Students will be introduced to the Augmented Reality (AR) design software, ‘Reality Composer’. Students will learn how to prototype and produce AR experiences that overlay students’ own artwork.

Students will be introduced to the 3D design software, ‘Tinkercad’. Students will learn how to manipulate three dimensional shapes and move them on their X,Y,Z axis. Students will incorporate their prior knowledge of the engineering process and develop their own graduation trinket.

Welcome to Term 4 in Performing Arts! This term students from R 6 are exploring how the different strands of the Arts Music, Dance and Drama can be integrated to add interest, variety and impact to a performance.

The two strands in Performing Arts are Making and Responding.

Making includes using knowledge, skills and techniques to create and practice short performances that engage an audience and communicate ideas and intentions. Responding includes exploring, analysing and interpreting the performances of others as well as identifying key elements within different musical genres and cultures.

RECEPTION

Students will explore different ways of expressing themselves through music, dance and drama. They will develop their understanding of rhythm, beat and pitch through games, songs and movement activities. Students will experiment with simple technical and expressive skills such as use of contrasting physical and music movements (loud/soft, fast/slow, high/low).

YEAR 1 Students will develop their understanding of rhythm, beat and pitch through games, songs and movement activities. They will use visual and verbal prompts to create short performances, and build their ability to learn, rehearse and perform effectively for an audience. Students will consider how props, costumes and special effects can be used to tell stories or create impact.

YEAR 2 Students will explore elements of the rock and roll genre, including key artists, instruments and musical conventions related to the style. They will consider space, time and relationships with others as they create dance routines and use drama to express an idea. Through games, songs and movement activities, they will build their confidence in performing for others as well as their audience skills.

YEAR 3 Students will incorporate contrasting movements, different levels and different groupings of people in a space. They will build confidence in improvisation across all areas of the arts. Students will develop their ability to respond to the performances of others, including their peers, and consider how sound effects, lighting and editing can be used to create emotion or effect.

YEAR 4 Students will explore elements of the pop music genre, including key artists, instruments and musical conventions related to the style. They will experiment with the use of space, energy and variation of movement across the different strands. Students will develop their ability to respond to the performances of others, including their peers, and consider how sound effects, lighting and editing can be used to create emotion or effect.

YEAR 5 Students will consider the effect of expressive and technical skills used in Music, Dance and Drama, and experiment with creating soundscapes and special effects. They will explore the history and impact of disco music, including key

artists, instruments and musical conventions related to the style. Students will work collaboratively to create, rehearse and perform dance and drama works that communicate ideas or express emotions, and be able to constructively respond to the performances of others.

YEAR 6 Students will explore the history and impact of hip hop music, including key artists, instruments and musical conventions related to the style. They will engage in improvisation activities with growing confidence, and experiment with creating soundscapes and special effects. Students will collaborate to choreograph, rehearse and perform a dance routine that demonstrates the use of space, time and energy effectively to engage an audience.

This term, the focus is on consolidation of prior learning and experiences of Italian language and culture. Students will also explore connections and differences between Italian and Australian celebrations and cultural practices. The focus will be a virtual journey to Italy, exploring and experiencing its culture, famous landmarks and other delights.
