The 70th year of the Campbell Muskett by Steven Rotsart
November 2, 1951, was the first meeting of the Helix and Grossmont High School football teams at Aztec Bowl. Grossmont won the game 13-6 and was awarded the Campbell Musket. "Old Betsy," as she has been lovingly referred to as, is a Civil War-era antique musket donated by the family of then Helix senior class president and football player, Jack Campbell, as a rivalry trophy. Since this first meeting of the cross-town rivals the Highlanders have won the musket 45 times to the Foothillers 17. They have tied twice and did not meet in 6 seasons. The Campbell Musket has called Helix High School "home" for the past 30 years, since 1991!
