Often, the basis is a square or an oblong, the complement of which has been taken out of it and associated to it as a pair, be it as a corner piece or an edge-parallel rectangle. lt surely cannot be wrong to see the realization of a constructivist thought also in this concept. Variable modes of change by association, substraction. addition are problems which are treated in the vertical plane. The colours thematize spatial problems.

Kuhnert, a constructivist who knows concretism without falling prey to it. For him, emotionality as a correlate to rationality is worthy to be preserved for his creative work in all of its phases down to the finishing touch. This equilibrium, this broadness of incorporated factors of creativity, hallmarks him as a classic. No wonder that he keeps his distance to purists of all proveniences.

Vl_______ Horst Kuhnert has proved to be an artist who has always remained true to himself, never belied his artistic fathers and refused to make any compromise. What makes his works immediately discernible is the adherence to a consistant concept, which always proved to be flexible. and accepted enrichments when this was indicated by trial and error, by learning by doing, by targetted attempts under creative-aesthetic aspects.
