Duke of Edinburgh

This year I finished my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, bringing to an end my Duke of Edinburgh journey. The journey from Bronze through to Gold has helped refine and challenge my leadership, resilience and interpersonal skills in various situations and conditions.

Through my Duke of Edinburgh experiences, I feel that I have grown both in terms of quantifiable skills like map reading, and personal qualities like leadership, cooperation and determination. It was a rewarding experience that I will carry with me throughout my life.

Despite all the challenges, the Duke of Edinburgh experience provided me with opportunities that I would never have otherwise had. These included working with the elderly to help them maintain a somewhat independent lifestyle and learning about native bush regeneration to give me a new perspective on life.

The different levels of camps were often challenging and difficult, however they gave me an opportunity to meet new people and improve my resilience and teamwork.

I would like to thank Mr Athas, whose constant encouragement helped push me to complete my Gold Award.
