Casterton girls cheered and participated throughout the year in an array of activities, including PC, Clubs and Choirs, sports, trivia and charity events.

The year started out with the swimming carnival, where girls from every year swam and cheered. Despite coming seventh overall, our participation was outstanding, with many girls reaching their personal bests and some making it to the finals. Casterton had a strong team in the cross country and came fourth overall, showcasing our dedication and strong house spirit. Abbey Lissenden came third and Madison Souvlis came first in their age divisions, helping the house to succeed.

Our girls excelled in Clubs and Choirs with the theme ‘Hope’. We sang a mash up of If You’re Out There by John Legend and One Love by Bob Marley, conducted by Eva Nicolaou. Our two speakers Katherine Petsoglou, senior, and Rhianna Jones, junior, were fantastic, with Rhianna taking out first prize for the junior speakers. The night was a great success, with our hard work paying off, to place fourth.

Casterton was awarded second place at the senior athletics carnival, where our house spirit and participation was through the roof. The girls were encouraged to give everything a go and nearly everyone competed in at least one event. Many of the girls won ribbons in their individual events, which showed the immense spirit and hard work as we came a close second place.

This year’s PC theme took us ‘Back to the 2000s’ with music from Brittney Spears and Beyoncé, and included a double zero, iPod and graffiti formation. The girls worked incredibly hard during lunchtime rehearsals to perfect the routine.

Casterton raised money and awareness for Australian Red Cross, for its dedication and support to vulnerable people and communities. We organised a bake sale of cakes and cookies made by Casterton girls and house mentors.

After a successful year, we are proud of every girl’s hard work, amazing house spirit and smiling face at every event. Thank you to our house leader Ms Smith and our house officials, Georgina Rafferty, Elisabeth Cola, Darcie Urquhart and vice-captain Abigail Vaughan.
