Book Week

During Book Week, I dressed up as the great, one and only Captain Underpants. So, instead of using my putter when playing the Treasure Island mini-golf, I used my handy plunger! Thanks to Miss Martin and Miss Cundy, this was the best Book Week I’ve had and I’m looking forward to the next one. I’m already planning my costume, though it’s going to be difficult to top wearing giant underpants to school.

MARIBEL GOUMENIS

Tim Harris visited our school and I bought two of his books. I was so excited because he signed them for me. Tim also came to our classrooms to talk about being an author and how to be a great writer.

CLAUDIA LYNAM

We played book-themed mini golf, designed by Years 5–6. The theme for one hole was ‘Harry Potter’, one of our favourite books, and we scored a hole in one!

GRACE VERCO AND EMME ESHUYS

Each girl in the junior school created a piece of bunting decorated with pictures of a book they treasure. On my bunting, I drew The Magic Faraway Tree , by Enid Blyton. I treasure this book because my mum read it to me when I was little and I really love the magical story. The Book Week bunting is one of the many creative ways we celebrate reading at St Catherine’s and it fills the hallways with colour, imagination and love.

GEMMA ALLEN

As part of Book Week we had a pop-up bookshop. It was so much fun because we could look at lots of books and buy some of our favourites. I was so excited to buy one of the WeirDo books.
