Cross Country Assistant Coaches Jason Cannon and Matt Clark

Jason Cannon is in his first year as an assistant coach for the State Fair Community College Track & Field and Cross Country programs. Cannon has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist for 10 years. He has worked with athletes at all levels, including professional, collegiate, and high school. Cannon has also coached basketball, baseball, and track and field at Green Ridge High School.

As a student-athlete, he earned All-Conference honors in basketball, football, golf, and track and field at Owensville High School.

Cannon earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of MissouriColumbia and a master of science degree from the University of Central Missouri.

Matt Clark is in his first season as an Assistant Cross Country Coach at State Fair Community College. Clark brings an impressive resume both as a professional and collegiate athlete, as well as college and high school coach to his position. Clark currently coaches Track & Field and Cross Country at Smith Cotton High School. He has also coached at LaMonte High School and Buffalo High School. He spent four years as an assistant track and cross country coach at the University of Central Missouri. He holds a USA Track & Field level one and two certification. After a standout high school career in cross country and track & field Clark continued his career at Missouri State University, where he was named All Missouri Valley three times, along with All Midwest Regional in 1995. He was a team captain in 1994 and 1995. Clark holds the school record in the 4 mile and was voted to the All-Decade Team 19902000 by the Missouri Valley Conference. Clark also earned All-Conference Honors in the Missouri Valley Conference on the track in 1994 and 1995. He was part of a school record in the 4x1500 m relay. Clark competed as a professional in the steeplechase and 5K run from 1995-1998. He also competed in the summer of 1995 and 1996 in Europe for Athletes in Action. Clark holds a bachelor of science in Education in Exercise Science from Missouri State University.
