2022 ANNUAL REPORT
17 Year at a Glance 19 Community & Alumni Notes teach me Goodness, Discipline, & Knowledge
Dear Friends of St. Anne,
The 2022-2023 school year recognized our unwavering commitment to excellence upon the announcement that St. Anne Catholic School was selected as a nationally recognized National Blue Ribbon Award school. This honor acknowledges the dedication of our students, teachers, and parents in upholding our school’s standards of academic excellence and community values.
The announcement marks the second time that St. Anne has received the award. St. Anne joined 15 other private schools in the state of Texas who received the award twice since the founding of the NBRS program. Award recognition signifies that ours is a campus where teachers are working in partnership with students to achieve the highest learning standards.
The Blue Ribbon Award is not only a testament to our current success, but also a promise for our future. It is a celebration of our collective efforts, the countless hours invested by our outstanding educators, the support and involvement of our parents, and the diligence and resilience of our students. It calls us to continue our mission, grounded in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge, with renewed determination and vigor. In November, Margarita Boitel, Junior High Spanish Teacher, and I were honored to represent St. Anne at the awards ceremony in Washington, DC. A school year highlight indeed!
Our students are at the heart of all that we do, and their accomplishments fill us with immense pride. The 2022-2023 school year witnessed their growth, resilience, and determination, even in the face of the challenges posed by a rapidly changing world. Our students continue to
excel academically, spiritually, and personally, embracing the Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge that lie at the core of our institution.
As we raise the National Blue Ribbon Award banner high, let us do so with pride, humility, and gratitude. Let us continue to build upon this achievement and set forth another 90 years of educating students in the Basilian tradition.
As the principal of this beloved Catholic school, I am overjoyed to share the achievements, milestones, and dreams of the past year. St. Anne is more than just a school, it is a deeply invested community of faith. Without a doubt, St. Anne Catholic School prepares the mind. But by God, it prepares the soul as well.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the blessings of the past year and for guiding our steps as we strive for excellence. We ask for your continued guidance, wisdom, and grace in the coming year. May our school continue to be a beacon of light, nurturing young minds, and instilling values that will guide our students throughout their lives. May God continue to bless you, our school, our community, and all our future endeavors.
With Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge,
Dawn Martinez Principal, St. Anne Catholic School

ANNUAL FUND
The success of the Annual Fund has been a triumph of collaboration with a shared belief in the mission and vision of this 93 year old institution.
No other fundraiser has the capacity to lift the school in our most desperate time of need. And no other fundraiser fills a St. Anne day full of promises and prayer more than the Annual Fund. Your gifts support the very days that form the faith of our students; days that build a love for learning, and days that our Shamrocks affectionately remember as their St. Anne days.
The 2022-2023 Annual Fund campaign achieved tremendous success. Let’s celebrate the stats:
$358,900 Annual Fund Dollars Raised From Over 1,000 Gifts $41K Corporate Matches $11K Gifts of Stock $11.5K Grandparents Gift

The Security Team begins their day at 7 am and doesn’t leave until the last student leaves Highlights!, or the last game.
GDK Day, a giving day dedicated to the Annual Fund, kickedoff the campaign with record gifts and participation, raising OVER $107,600 100% PK 3 and Kinder with highest class participation!
Robust campaigning allows St. Anne to invest in cutting-edge technology, expand tuition assistance programs, reinforce campus security, provide professional development opportunities, enhance co-curricular programs, and improve campus infrastructure.

“Christ is the reason for this school, the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes, the model of its faculty, and the inspiration for its students.”
Thank you for supporting a beloved St. Anne tradition.
LIGHTS! CAMERA! LET’S FIESTA! The St. Anne Cheerleaders gathered the entire school for a ‘Rock Rally in the Courtyard to kick-off another FIESTA Raffle season! Pep rallies recognized top sellers and students earned hats and visors by selling their eight raffle book quota. The eight week fundraiser encourages students and faculty to sell a quota (eight books) and become active fundraisers in supporting the St. Anne mission. As a reward for an exciting raffle selling season, FIESTA culminates in FIESTA Fest, an epic parish-wide carnival with inflatables, games, cascarones, and food trucks, FIESTA Fest sponsors generously underwrite FIESTA Fest carnival games, rides, and inflatables so that the entire St. Anne community celebrates a day filled with fellowship and fun!
Why is FIESTA so important to St. Anne? FIESTA is a beloved St. Anne tradition, where student raffle sales support a St. Anne Catholic School experience. When St. Anne students sell raffle tickets, they serve as active fundraisers on behalf of the school. FIESTA fundraising supplements the tuition gap, the actual cost to educate a child versus the tuition the school collects.
St. Anne Catholic School extends a big THANK YOU to all 2023 FIESTA sponsors and student raffle sellers. Without your support, FIESTA would not be possible!

Father Jay Walsh, CSB 1935-2022
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”
St. Anne on the altar to share in the celebration of the birth of Christ. Fr. Walsh enjoyed reciting poetry and singing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and shared a good joke. Fr. Walsh was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law. He is mourned by his Basilian brothers and the St. Anne Catholic School community.
WE THANK GOD FOR SENDING US THIS GOOD SHEPHERD.
