FUTURE IN EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT IN PETERBOROUGH GETS A BOOST WITH IEG-HOSTED ROUNDTABLE
Inspire Education Group and Andrew Pakes MP hosted a roundtable at Peterborough College, bringing together key local decision-makers to tackle the rising number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).
During the event, Saffron Goose, student at JobSmart, also shared her experiences with finding employment and picking a career path as a young person in Peterborough.
With Peterborough designated as a ‘Trailblazer’ for youth employment support, this discussion focused on real action—expanding training pathways, strengthening employer partnerships and ensuring long-term support for young people.


CEO, Rachel Nicholls, emphasised the importance of collaborative solutions, while Andrew Pakes MP highlighted the role Peterborough can play in engineering, construction, and tech careers.

UNIVERSITY CENTRE PETERBOROUGH HOST PETERBOROUGH BUSINESS FORUM WITH CAMBRIDGESHIRE CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
University Centre Peterborough hosted the Peterborough Business Forum on behalf of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce. The event brought together business professionals to discuss a wide range of issues, with a particular focus on tackling business crime—both physical and digital.
It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our brand-new esports and networking facilities, which are designed to empower the next generation of tech innovators.
These facilities reflect our commitment to teaching industry-relevant skills that prepare our students to excel in areas such as cybersecurity, web development, and forensic investigation.
DAVID O’GARR APPOINTED AS VICE PRINCIPAL FOR CURRICULUM AND QUALITY AT IEG
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of David O’Garr as our new Vice Principal for Curriculum and Quality. Following a rigorous recruitment process, David will lead the development of a forward-thinking curriculum designed to equip all students with the skills necessary for success in their chosen careers.
David will also focus on expanding adult provision, driving technological innovation, and placing a continued emphasis on green jobs and emerging skills across all sectors.
In addition to his previous roles as Head of Faculty and Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Peterborough College, David has held senior positions at Stoke-on-Trent College and City College Southampton. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this strategic position.

David commented: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of Vice Principal for Curriculum and Quality at IEG. I look forward to leading the necessary curriculum changes to meet current educational reforms and ensuring we provide a place and pathway to success for all our students.”
We are confident that David’s leadership will play a key role in achieving our ambitious plans for the future and ensuring the very best outcomes for our students.

CENTRE FOR GREEN TECHNOLOGY AT PETERBOROUGH COLLEGE FEATURES IN INDUSTRY LEADING MAGAZINE
We’re proud to have been featured in an edition of the Building Design and Construction (BDC) Magazine, where the Centre for Green Technology at Peterborough College was given a doublepage feature!
Described as delivering “green skills for the green jobs of tomorrow”, the article highlights how we’re set to equip students with the expertise to thrive in high-growth industries and contribute to the talent pipeline for green sectors.
This recognition from an influential industry publication underscores the importance of collaboration between education and industry in driving forward sustainable initiatives and preparing the workforce for the challenges of the future.
The Centre for Green Technology project has been partly funded by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, providing £2.471 million via the Transforming Cities Fund and £400,000 from the Local Growth Fund, further to the £1.9 million package from Peterborough City Council via the Towns Fund.
