EVENT R ECAP Milestone Reached Through North Texas Giving Day Campaign This year, St. Philip’s School and Community Center reached both the monetary and participatory goals of our North Texas Giving Day and Family Annual Fund campaign. We met our $100,000 goal AND achieved 100% participation among our families, students, trustees, and faculty/staff. We truly are thankful for the people in our neighborhood. Many thanks to the Colonnetta Family and Colette and John Haigler for serving as Matching Donor Ambassadors for this effort. We are BLESSED to call them our NEIGHBORS!
Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast This year's Community Thanksgiving Feast was amazing - with 170 volunteers, we served over 340 members of the community! Thank you to volunteers from Bank of America, the Dallas Police Department, Atmos Energy, Top Ladies of Distinction - Trinity West Chapter, Top Teens of America, Cachet Youth Group, Amalgamated Transit Union and countless friends and families of St. Philip’s for making it possible. A special thank you to the St. Philip's sewing class who, under the guidance of Mrs. Nan Works, Mrs. Selma, Ms. Shirley Perkins, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Barjon, created beautiful place mats for all the tables.
A Seat For Everyone St. Philip’s was honored to host A Seat at the Table, on October 27th. This one-day workshop brought together community advocates, alongside South Dallas residents, to discuss issues on community expansion, racial justice, and education. Rapper and activist, David Banner, served as the keynote speaker. The event was supported in part by generous support from Communities Foundation of Texas (Racial Equity grant) and The Embrey Foundation. David Banner responds to a question raised by St. Philip's alum and current St. Marks High School student, Semaj Musco.
