A Word From the Perot Family Headmaster

T.E.A.M. Tell Everyone About the Ministry

This November, I was invited to a local high school to attend a college signing of one of our alumni. When I arrived, there were several former St. Philip’s families in attendance. During the ceremony, they announced that this alum had a 4.0 grade point average and would be attending the University of Southern California – on a full ride!

While the ceremony was underway, I noticed one of St. Philip’s former parents, who happens to be the alum’s cousin, was crying uncontrollably. I turned to her saying, “This is a good day.” She shared that when this alum was born, she insisted to her parents that they consider St. Philip’s for her elementary education. She explained her desire to break her family’s generational curse. The cycle of illiteracy and poverty has plagued this side of her family forever. In her heart, she believed St. Philip’s could break this crippling cycle, thus creating a path of uplift for her family. She went on to explain that she had seen first-hand the

tremendous effect of St. Philip’s on many families, many lives, and she was convinced the same

could happen for her cousin. And it has! After her testimonial, she told me that she tells everyone she knows how impactful the St. Philip’s experience can be for children.

My conversation with her reminds me of the biblical exchange between Philip and Jesus. It was so inspirational that Philip ran to tell others. However, when he attempted to do so, he was met with skepticism. He was asked, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip’s response was “come and see.” Just as

“In her heart, she believed St. Philip’s could break this crippling cycle, thus creating a path of uplift for her family.”

Philip wanted everyone to know of the goodness he had discovered in Jesus, so it is with this alumni parent. Each opportunity she has, she tells the good news about St. Philip’s School and Community Center. As you read this edition of our magazine, I encourage you to join the T.E.A.M. Tell Everyone About the Ministry!

We extend our deepest gratitude to every volunteer, supporter, and family who sacrifices to make St. Philip’s a possibility in the lives of those we serve. We thank you for being advocates, ambassadors, and angels that spread the word about the goodness God is orchestrating here on these anointed soils at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in South Dallas.

Blessings,

Dr. Terry J. Flowers
