With 3 Springfield teams a chance of making the SUFC Cup final, it all came down to the wire in our round 3 match ups.
SUFC Gold kicked off the round playing for their first win against Oxley who were also chasing 3 points. Oxley struck first leading 2-0 early before SUFC Gold were able to bring it back to 2-2. Chasing a goal to get their first win it was the man so good we have to say his name twice, Htoo Htoo scoring on the break to bring the full-time score 3-2 in favour of Springfield
Next up was the interclub match between SUFC White and SUFC Silver. After Wynnum were able to beat Toowong 3-0, this match was about bragging rights at the club. Both sides were able to find goals with Sam Chadwick (SUFC’s resident tap-in merchant) and Nathan Crowley scoring for Silver and White respectively With the scores level for most of the game it was young Rory Duncan who as able to turn his defender and bury his shot leaving the game 2-1 in favour of SUFC white.
The final match, a semi-final of sorts between Moggil and SUFC Blue, with a win securing a spot in the SUFC Metro Cup grand final. The game had everything, from sin-bins to both teams, big hits, red cards being turned to yellows and a red card to the Moggil coach. However the game was missing a goal, the biggest opportunity was a penalty to SUFC which was missed meaning the game finished at 0-0 and Moggil heading to the final on goal difference.
SUFC have a chance for bronze with a 5pm game against Toowong in which will be another close game.
