The K-Tel All-Stars - Super Hits of the 70s!
The decade of the 1970’s generated some of the greatest music ever written. Songs we listened to on AM radio at home, in the car, and at the beach, include unforgettable masterpieces by major superstars, definitive singles by forgotten greats, and fun, quirky novelties by onehit wonders. These songs reverberate through the decades and have become the soundtrack to our lives. Unfortunately, modern music has lost its soul and the magic of the ‘70s seems to be lost forever. Until now! The K-Tel All-Stars are the premiere tribute to AM Radio’s rock and pop super hits from the 70s. The band plays chart-topping songs from 1970 to 1979, including number-one hits, one-hit wonders, and other unforgettable gems from the greatest era in music history. In other words, you’ll know every song! Their passion for the hit songs of the decade is manifest in their meticulous examination of each song to the minutest detail, delivering only the best quality representation of each musical gem! Griffin House
The 2021 Summer Arts Festival is happy to welcome back Springfield’s hometown favorite, singer-songwriter Griffin House! Born and raised in Springfield, where his father worked in a tire shop and his mother helped place children with foster families, the athletically-gifted Griffin House landed a role in a musical in high school and was surprised to learn that he had a natural talent for singing. Recording and performing for over a decade, House has toured with Ron Sexsmith, Patti Scialfa, Josh Ritter, John Mellencamp, Mat Kearney, and The Cranberries. He received early critical acclaim on the CBS Sunday Morning, and his songs have since been featured in countless films and television shows such as One Tree Hill, Army Wives, and Brothers and Sisters. He has also appeared on Late Night with Craig Ferguson. House has released ten albums and continues to headline his own national tours. Residing in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife Jane and their two daughters, Griffin headlines nationally, and remains a longtime Summer Arts Festival fan favorite! EVENT PARTNER

Parrots of the Caribbean
(“Parrothead Party in the Park” begins at 5:00 PM)
Pull out your flip-flops, put on your Hawaiian shirt, and get ready for a change of attitude as The Parrots of the Caribbean return to Veteran’s Park for our annual Parrothead Party in the Park! Parrots of the Caribbean delight audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada. Along with your favorite Buffett hits, they perform the acclaimed original hits from their CD “Cool Bayou,” a Trop-Rock Island blend of Zydeco, Rock, Country, and Patriotic flair that will have you up dancing all night long. Lead singer and harmonica player Dave Albrecht - aka J.B. - bought his first harmonica at age 18, and by 30 had landed a front-man position impersonating Dan Aykroyd’s “Elwood Blues” character in a nine-piece Blues Brothers Tribute. Soon after, Dave signed with “Legends in Concert,” a top-ranked impersonators show in Las Vegas. However, Dave had been long-inspired by his love for the music of Jimmy Buffett, and took his passion in a new direction. He gathered some of the finest seasoned musicians for The Parrots of the Caribbean, and has earned acclaim as the number one Jimmy Buffett tribute act in the country, and a Summer Arts Festival favorite! GODSPELL, JR. THE STORY Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love based on the Broadway musical that inspired a generation. The original production of Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award-winner, Stephen Schwartz, and took the theater world by storm. Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, Godspell JR is adapted for young performers as it deals with the last days of Jesus and includes dramatized musical versions of several well-known parables. And yet, as the Youth Arts Ambassadors have discovered in preparing this production, Godspell JR is something more - a religious experience, a demonstration of joy, and a celebration of the family of man. The Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra
Hear the oldest performing arts institution in Springfield and the newest, as the SSO and the SSJO provide a stunning night of music under the stars! The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is delighted to return to the Summer Arts Festival with the backbone of the Orchestra, the string section! A relatively unknown but delightful piece by African American composer Ulysses Kay starts the event, with three of his Dances for Strings. An iconic work for string orchestra reimagined follows, with Max Richter’s adaptation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, featuring concertmaster Sujean Kim. Finally, the timeless melodies of Bizet’s opera Carmen are arranged by the soviet composer Rodion Shchedrin as a ballet for his wife utilizing strings and percussion. After intermission, The Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra returns to live performance with a program that takes the listener through an eclectic mix of roaring standards, danceable Latin rhythms, and the midnight heartbreak of the blues. Featuring some of the finest regional jazz artists and 20-year-old vocal phenom Christopher McDole, the SSJO turns Springfield into SWINGfield! EVENT SPONSORS

Acapella vocal band Fourth Avenue
Fourth Avenue, a professional a cappella quartet based in Dayton, OH, entertains and engages audiences with concerts that feature a variety of familiar pop, rock, soul, R&B, gospel, and doo-wop favorites from different eras, as well as catchy original music performed with their unique high-energy approach. Since their start in 1993, Fourth Avenue shared the stage with such national acts as the Beach Boys, The Temptations, Styx, and Three Dog Night. The group celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary of entertaining audiences in 2018, and in 2019, they were honored to perform for the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts. Most amazing is Fourth Avenue’s ability, as “the band without instrument,” to perform pop favorites and original tunes using nothing but their own voices!

Brass Tracks Band
“Sip of Summer Beer and Wine Tasting” begins at 5:00 PM
Nothing gets a crowd jumping like horn-driven rock ‘n’ roll and R & B, which makes Brass Tracks the perfect band...” - Dayton.com Southwest Ohio based Brass Tracks Band was born in 2013 out of an existing band called “Second Shift” who had been entertaining crowds around the country for over 30 years with the classic rock sounds of the 60’s and 70’s. To step it up a notch, the “Second Shift” members decided it was time to add a bit of flavor to their sound so they recruited an amazing brass trio, led by internationally renowned saxophone artist Hal Melia, which gave the group a whole new dimension. The concept of the band from the beginning was to pay tribute to the great rock, R&B and funk horn bands of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. The sound and power of the classic horn section just knocks people out. Brass Tracks Band has quickly made an impact in Southwest Ohio and their momentum continues to build. Step back in time as Brass Tracks Band pays tribute to the sounds of Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power and other great bands of yesteryear! EVENT SPONSORS

When Springfield Sings presented by The Nehemiah Foundation
The Nehemiah Foundation presents an evening of hope and unity, When Springfield Sings, in Veterans Park Amphitheater at the Summer Arts Festival. At When Springfield Sings, all of the Jesus-followers in Clark County will gather to raise our voices together as ONE. The UNIFIED Worship Collective will lead us in songs of worship and thanksgiving, as we honor the one who makes us ONE! Together, we will blend our voices into one courageous chorus. We will take some time to acknowledge all of the challenges and walls that try to divide us, all of the brokenness that we have experienced as a community, especially over the past year. As we lean in, listen, and lead one another into greater levels of compassion and strength, we are trusting God to meet us there with his healing presence, creating a kind of unity that also releases a SOUND into our community. We cannot create this kind of shift in the spiritual atmosphere in our city without you – join the unity chorus – join us When Springfield Sings!
