The 2024 Summer Arts Festival welcomes back Springfield’s hometown favorite, singer-songwriter Griffin House!
Born and raised in Springfield (where his father worked in a tire shop and his mother helped place children with foster families,) the athletically-gifted Griffin House landed a role in a musical in high school and was surprised to learn that he had a natural talent for singing.
Recording and performing for over a decade, House has toured with Ron Sexsmith, Patti Scialfa, Josh Ritter, John Mellencamp, Mat Kearney, and The Cranberries. He received early critical acclaim on CBS Sunday Morning, and his songs have since been featured in countless films and television shows such as One Tree Hill, Army Wives, and Brothers and Sisters, and has also appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. House has released ten albums and continues to headline his own national tours.
Griffin headlines nationally when not enjoying home life with his wife and two daughters, and remains a Summer Arts Festival fan favorite! Admission-free event; donations accepted at intermission.
Saturday, June 7, 2024 at 8:00 PM; Veterans Park Amphitheater
(“Parrothead Party in the Park” begins at 6:00 PM)
Pull out your flip-flops, put on your Hawaiian shirt, and get ready for a change of attitude as Parrots of the Caribbean return to Veteran’s Park for our annual Parrothead Party in the Park! Parrots of the Caribbean delight audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada. Along with your favorite Buffett hits, they perform the acclaimed original hits from their CD “Cool Bayou,” a Trop-Rock Island blend of Zydeco, Rock, Country, and Patriotic flair that will have you dancing all night long.
Lead singer and harmonica player Dave Albrecht - aka J.B. - bought his first harmonica at age 18, and by 30 had landed a front-man position impersonating Dan Aykroyd’s “Elwood Blues” character in a nine-piece Blues Brothers Tribute. Soon after, Dave signed with “Legends in Concert,” a top-ranked impersonators show in Las Vegas.
However, Dave had been long-inspired by his love for the music of Jimmy Buffett, and took his passion in a new direction. He gathered some of the finest seasoned musicians for Parrots of the Caribbean, and has earned acclaim as the number one Jimmy Buffett tribute act in the country, and a Summer Arts Festival favorite!
Admission-free event; donations accepted at intermission.

2024: The Last Pirates of the Vast Golden Treasure
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, June 12, 13, 14, 2024 at 8:00 PM
Veterans Park Amphitheater
Ahoy! The Pirate Earl and his colorful – but slightly inept – pirates of the vast golden treasure discover a floating bottle with a note inside. The kingdom has been overrun by anarchy, and these pirates most assuredly cannot let anarchy reign. They proceed to meet the wonderful women of the kingdom, led by a beautiful maiden. The vicious Ladies of Anarchy now rule the kingdom and have banished all men! The pirates and the wonderful women team up to restore the kingdom and free the father of the fairest maiden from the dungeon. Of course, all is finally restored, the king crowns the princess as the new queen, the pirates receive a vast golden treasure, and the quest is rollickingly complete!
The Last Pirates of the Vast Golden Treasure, an original musical comedy written and directed by Springfield’s Dan Hunt, features a cast of local scallywag actors, beauteous actresses, and assorted buccaneers, brigands, and occasional cutthroats, and will have you singing along and rolling in the aisles!
Admission-free event; donations accepted at intermission.
The videotaping or other video or audio recording of this production is strictly prohibited.

The 2024 SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL welcomes the return of Springfield favorite Resurrection: A Journey Tribute to Veterans Park Amphitheater!
Since 2014, Resurrection has built a reputation as the gold standard by which other Journey tributes are measured, playing in nearly 40 of the 50 states in the United States. At the end of 2022, the band found itself in need of a new vocalist to handle the frontman duties and deliver the high notes originally belted out by Steve Perry. After auditioning vocalists from all over the country, Resurrection performed on it’s home turf in Nashville to give eight singers the opportunity to divide up the evening’s set list and perform for the sellout crowd. By the end of the night, fan sentiment was clear that one man had the power, pipes, and passion to do the Journey catalogue justice. That man is Bryan Cole.
Only two weeks later, Bryan delivered a nearly two hour show of Journey material. The audience welcomed Bryan into the Resurrection family with open arms, and Resurrection’s torch landed in the capable hands of Bryan Cole. Still they ride. The strong will survive. Journey on!
Admission-free event; donations accepted at intermission.

The 2024 SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL welcomes back the one and only McGuffey Lane to Veterans Park Amphitheater!
Celebrating their 50th anniversary, central-Ohio rock band McGuffey Lane began their extraordinary career in the college town of Athens, Ohio in the 1970s. Founding members Steve George Reis and Terry Efaw started their careers playing gigs in Athens and the surrounding area under their original name “Scotch and Soda.” When they added Bobby Gene McNelley, they renamed themselves “McGuffey Lane,” after the street where Steve lived throughout his childhood. McGuffey Lane was not only the house band for years for Ohio venues such as The Castle and Zachariah’s Red Eye Saloon, but have also toured the country with bands including the Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, the Judds, and The Marshall Tucker Band.
McGuffey Lane’s history mirrors one of the songs from their 2002 “Wood” album. “I’ve been up and down and all around my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground. Don’t you worry baby don’t you worry about me. Cause I’ve survived everything that comes and goes. I still know which way that old north wind blows. After all these years I’m “Runnin’ Wild and Free”. McGuffey Lane is still going strong with the three original surviving members (Steve George Reis, Terry Efaw and John Schwab) in the band. The journey continues and “It’s A Good Day.”

The Springfield Arts Council’s 2024 SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL welcomes Motor City: The Motown Revue.

The members of Motor City: The Motown Revue decided if Berry Gordy could accomplish so much with so little, then we have to honor his gift to the world by giving you eight of his legendary artists in one night, with tributes to The Temptations, The Supremes, Mary Wells, Tammi Terrell, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Smokey and the Miracles, and Martha and The Vandellas – as you enjoy the fabulous Motor City: The Motown Revue!

Southwest Ohio based Brass Tracks Band was born in 2013 out of an existing band called “Second Shift” who had been entertaining crowds around the country for over 30 years with the classic rock sounds of the 60s and 70s. To step it up a notch, the “Second Shift” members decided it was time to add a bit of flavor to their sound so they recruited an amazing brass trio, led by internationally renowned saxophone artist Hal Melia, which gave the group a whole new dimension.
The concept of the Brass Tracks Band from the beginning was to pay tribute to the great rock, R&B and funk horn bands of the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s. The power of the classic horn section just knocks people out!
