Parrots of the Caribbean

(“Parrothead Party in the Park” begins at 6:00 PM)

Pull out your flip-flops, put on your Hawaiian shirt, and get ready for a change of attitude as Parrots of the Caribbean return to Veteran’s Park for our annual Parrothead Party in the Park! Parrots of the Caribbean delight audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada. Along with your favorite Buffett hits, they perform the acclaimed original hits from their CD “Cool Bayou,” a Trop-Rock Island blend of Zydeco, Rock, Country, and Patriotic flair that will have you dancing all night long.

Lead singer and harmonica player Dave Albrecht - aka J.B. - bought his first harmonica at age 18, and by 30 had landed a front-man position impersonating Dan Aykroyd’s “Elwood Blues” character in a nine-piece Blues Brothers Tribute. Soon after, Dave signed with “Legends in Concert,” a top-ranked impersonators show in Las Vegas.

However, Dave had been long-inspired by his love for the music of Jimmy Buffett, and took his passion in a new direction. He gathered some of the finest seasoned musicians for Parrots of the Caribbean, and has earned acclaim as the number one Jimmy Buffett tribute act in the country, and a Summer Arts Festival favorite!

The

Pettybreakers: Tribute to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

Fans of Tom Petty are unanimous is their appreciation of The Petty Breakers and their celebration of the late, great artist. The Petty Breakers is the nation’s premier “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers” tribute act. Based out of Southern California, this band accurately recreates the sights, sounds and concert experience of a Tom Petty concert.

Playing to packed houses all over the United States, The Petty Breakers is comprised of excellent musicians who have performed and recorded with international artists. All the classics - “American Girl,” “Break Down,” “Free Fallin’,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Refugee,” “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” and many more - are perfectly reproduced by this talented band.

“We have been paying tribute to the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers all over this great country. We all suffered a major heartbreak when we lost one of the most prolific and brilliant singer songwriters this world has ever known. We invite all fans to come and celebrate the life and music of Tom Petty.”

It’s SKYLINE WEDNESDAY at the Summer Arts Festival! Enjoy Cheese Coneys and Walking Tacos, on sale tonight from our Skyline Wednesdays sponsor, Skyline Chili Springfield! (A portion of your purchase benefits The Summer Arts Festival.)

ABBAMANIA Canada

By popular demand, the Springfield Arts Council’s 2023 Summer Arts Festival welcomes back ABBAmania Canada. In the beginning, ABBAmania Canada was six months in rehearsals just for vocal arrangements. ABBA’s harmonies are very difficult to reproduce as ABBA recorded their vocals many times on each record to make them sound so big and full. Not only did the cast have to look like Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny and Agnetha, they had to sound like them.

With authentic costumes, made by the seamstress from MAMA MIA, and incredible vocals, ABBAmania Canada will take you back in time to when ABBA was on stage, live in concert. A show for all ages to enjoy and sing along with, including songs such as Waterloo, Fernando, S.O.S, Mama Mia, Super Trooper, Voulez Vous, Dancing Queen and many more, as ABBAmania Canada performs all your favorite ABBA hits!

Mama Mia! Party on the East Terrace at our Wine, Women and Waterloo Weekend, starting at 6:00 PM, with wine and munchies, ABBAKaraoke, and an ABBA Costume Contest!

Queen Nation: A Tribute to the Music of Queen

Queen Nation is the ultimate tribute to the music of Queen. The band has performed over 1,200 concerts together as the most popular, accurate, authentic, longest running, fully costumed re-creation of a vintage Queen concert in the US, playing live note-for-note renditions of the Classic Queen song library including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Somebody To Love, We are the Champions, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and many more of your favorites.

Featured front man and vocalist Gregory Finsley is an amazing singer with an uncanny tone and captivating stage energy that matches the late great Freddie Mercury to a tee. Gregory is also a concert-trained pianist, allowing him to accurately and skillfully play piano live during the show as did Freddie Mercury back in the day. Queen Nation is the real deal!

The band’s creed is quite simple, “We try to perform the music of Queen humbly, tastefully and respectfully while paying homage to our rock idols without resorting to any corny cliché antics or images.” It’s no mystery why Queen Nation has therefore been crowned by their loyal legions of fans as the “Peoples Choice Tribute To Queen” champions.

McGuffey Lane

McGuffey Lane is a central-Ohio rock band who started their successful career in the college town of Athens, Ohio in the 1970s. Founding members Steve George Reis and Terry Efaw began their careers playing gigs in Athens and the surrounding area under their original name “Scotch and Soda.” When they added Bobby Gene McNelley, they renamed themselves “McGuffey Lane,” after the street where Steve lived throughout his childhood. McGuffey Lane was not only the house band for years for Ohio venues such as The Castle and Zachariah’s Red Eye Saloon, but have also toured the country with bands including the Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels, the Judds, and The Marshall Tucker Band.

McGuffey Lane’s history mirrors one of the songs from their 2002

“Wood” album. “I’ve been up and down and all around my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground. Don’t you worry baby don’t you worry about me. Cause I’ve survived everything that comes and goes. I still know which way that old north wind blows. After all these years I’m

“Runnin’ Wild and Free”. McGuffey Lane is still going strong with the three original surviving members (Steve George Reis, Terry Efaw and John Schwab) in the band. The journey continues and “It’s A Good Day.”

Resurrection: The Journey Tribute

Since 2014, Resurrection has built a reputation as the gold standard by which other Journey tributes are measured, playing in nearly 40 of the 50 states in the United States. At the end of 2022, the band found itself in need of a new vocalist to handle the frontman duties and deliver the high notes originally belted out by Steve Perry.. After auditioning vocalists from all over the country, Resurrection performed on it’s home turf in Nashville to give eight singers the opportunity to divide up the evening’s set list and perform for the sellout crowd. By the end of the night, fan sentiment was clear that one man had the power, the pipes, and the passion to do the Journey catalogue justice. That man is Bryan Cole.

Only two weeks later, Bryan took to the stage and faced a room full of fans at The Maryland Theatre to deliver a nearly two hour show of Journey material. Resurrection launched into the opener, “Any Way You Want It.” Vic White addressed the crowd to acknowledge the band’s change of vocalist and to introduce Bryan. The audience welcomed Bryan into the Resurrection family with open arms, and Resurrection’s torch landed in the capable hands of Bryan Cole. Still they ride. The strong will survive. Journey on!

Adelee and Gentry

Adelee and Gentry are sisters from the small town of West Alexandria, Ohio, who grew up in a musical family and began performing as a duo in 2006. Adelee was 14 and Gentry was 12.

They started playing local coffee shops and events as well as being apart of their church worship team. They even recorded an acoustic album in their basement studio with their Dad’s help called ‘Beginnings’. Little did they know that all of those little experiences were going to be used for a much greater purpose!

Fast forward a few years and Adelee and Gentry were recording in Nashville, Tennessee with the amazing producer and piano session player, Jason Webb. Since 2011, they have released an album (“Nice To Meet You,”) a Christmas EP (“Waiting For Christmas”) and their single, “The Color Song.”

A popular duo in the college entertainment industry (where they toured the country playing at 75+ colleges a year) along with festivals, weddings, corporate events and performing arts centers, this is Adelee and Gentry’s premier appearance at the Summer Arts Festival!

Brass Tracks Band

Southwest Ohio based Brass Tracks Band was born in 2013 out of an existing band called “Second Shift” who had been entertaining crowds around the country for over 30 years with the classic rock sounds of the 60s and 70s. To step it up a notch, the “Second Shift” members decided it was time to add a bit of flavor to their sound so they recruited an amazing brass trio, led by internationally renowned saxophone artist Hal Melia, which gave the group a whole new dimension.

The concept of the Brass Tracks Band from the beginning was to pay tribute to the great rock, R&B and funk horn bands of the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s. The sound and power of the classic horn section just knocks people out.

Brass Tracks Band has quickly made an impact in Southwest they pay tribute to the sounds of Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power and other great bands of yesteryear!

“Nothing gets a crowd jumping like horn-driven rock ‘n’ roll and R & B, which makes Brass Tracks Band the perfect band...” - Dayton.com

Turn to Stone: The Tribute to ELO

Turn To Stone, America’s authentic ‘70s Electric Light Orchestra tribute band, was created to preserve the legacy and music of the band for all generations of fans. Turn To Stone strives to capture the essence of a live retro performance, with the high quality production and orchestration standards of the modern day. The band tours with the same instrumentation as 1970’s ELO; consisting of a guitarist, keyboardist, bassist, drummer, violinist, and two cellists. Authentic costumes and a live string section help deliver an unforgettable performance that brings the early years of ELO back to life.
