Headlines + SHORELINES

Hi, readers! I’m so excited to introduce our newest addition to the Spotlight summer lineup—our Mid July issue! Consider this your perfect companion for the most vibrant days of the season—a beautifully curated book to flip through poolside, beachside, or while catching your breath between Hamptons parties. We know there’s no shortage!

Lately, I’ve been asked frequently by journalism students and budding entrepreneurs why I started truth is, storytelling has been in my DNA since I was 16. I discovered my passion for media during a summer program at Harvard, where I dove into journalism and digital-media courses. My first big assignment? Starting a blog! This was in 2010, when WordPress was just catching on, and I’ve never looked back. That passion followed me to George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs, then into a career contributing to some of the most notable luxury publications in the Hamptons and the nation. I also built a parallel path in television, sharing style and entertainment stories on-air.

It was during COVID that the vision for Spotlight crystallized. I felt the gap—the need for a magazine that spoke directly to the people and pulse of the community it serves. A publication that was modern, vibrant, and multigenerational; one that honors both the timeless appeal of print and the fresh energy of today’s tastemakers.

That’s why this issue, our Media Movers Edition, feels so fitting. At its core, the Hamptons is driven by dynamic entrepreneurial spirits—many of whom have made their mark through media. Our cover stars, Real Housewives of New York Zarin and her daughter, Ally Shapiro, sit down for an exclusive interview about reinvention, reality TV, and redefining their own spotlight. Read our exclusive on page 26. Plus, don’t miss our Media Mavericks feature on page 30, where we spotlight the East End’s most influential names in the biz— Joy Behar, Talia Parkinson-Jones, Bill Hemmer, and the beloved duo behind the “Excuse My Grandma” podcast, Gail Rudnick and Kim Murstein.

We’re also bringing you party pics from our unforgettable July 4th celebration, a dreamy

Hamptons night that truly captured the spirit of summer. And don’t miss “10 Things” with My Unorthodox Life star Julia Haart, a behind-the-scenes “Day in the Life” with Jennie Garth, and so much more.

Thank you for being part of this community and this journey. Here’s to soaking up every second of these

MEET ROD CUMMINGS

Real Estate Agent, Saunders & Associates

What’s the biggest shift you’ve seen in Hamptons real estate over the past year?

This year I’ve been dealing with multiple buyers whose main focus is proximity to the city and ease of commuting. This has brought many buyers to look at opportunities in the greater Westhampton Beach and Quogue areas. What’s one hidden gem neighborhood Out East that most buyers overlook? When I have buyers looking for both great value, quiet country living, and proximity to the city, I have been taking them to tour the Moriches. It’s been undiscovered for many part-timers and weekenders, but it’s a thriving year-round community that is made up of open farmland areas, as well as beautiful bayfronts and inlets for boaters.

What’s your personal philosophy when preparing a home for market?

I go by the “first 30 second” rule, which I describe as what will be the buyers immediate and lasting emotional and psychological impression they take in the first 30 seconds— including the lighting, music, scent, and visual effects. If you could own any property in the Hamptons, what would it be and why? I’m always eyeing waterfront opportunities in my area. I love big open sky and water views, and I’d love to restore a project on the water. There’s always great potential for a nice return on investment with a waterfront opportunity.

WE ARE FAMILY

In a media world saturated with celebrity chats and true-crime sagas, some of the most engaging and authentic podcasts are unfolding not between strangers, but within families. These hybrid shows—featuring spouses, siblings, and other relatives teaming up behind the mic—offer a raw and personal glimpse into real-life dynamics. With honest disagreements, heartfelt moments, and spontaneous banter, these family-led podcasts bring a refreshing energy. Whether they’re diving into pop culture, dishing out life advice, or simply letting their natural rapport shine, these familial duos are reshaping podcasting with humor, heart, and undeniable heat.

IMO WITH MICHELLE OBAMA AND CRAIG ROBINSON

The beloved former First Lady and her brother Craig recently launched this podcast together. And while she may be the more recognizable name, Craig holds his own. A Princeton graduate and former basketball forward, he’s also built an impressive career in finance, coaching, and broadcasting with ESPN. Together, they dive into listeners’ real-life questions and personal dilemmas, covering everything from relationships and parenting to money and mental health. Their conversations are honest, often funny, and full of thoughtful insight. As siblings, they bring a natural ease and unfiltered back-and-forth..

JUST JENNY WITH JENNY HUTT

This lighthearted weekly show from Long Island native Jenny Hutt offers an intimate, unfiltered look into her life. For the “Saturdays with Stacy” segment, she’s joined by her sister, Stacy Fritz. Together, they blend family updates with the simple pleasures of everyday life. Jenny, a lawyer and radio/TV host, is best known for co-hosting Whatever With Alexis and Jenny alongside Alexis Stewart (Martha’s daughter). She also co-founded Bunny Eyez, the hit eyewear brand that made a splash on Shark Tank and now has a regular home on QVC. Stacy, while more low-key than her sister, has earned a loyal following for her warmth and authenticity. The chemistry between the duo is irresistible—fun, honest, and endlessly relatable. And yes, Jenny’s recent facelift (with before, during, and after details) makes for some can’t-miss content.

COME TOGETHER WITH ERIN & ABE LICHY

Erin Lichy rose to fame as a top real estate agent in NYC and was a standout cast member of The Real Housewives of New York—not to mention a Spotlight cover star. Now, Erin and her husband, Abe—an attorney with expertise in startups—are sharing more of their world in this unfiltered new podcast. Come Together features candid conversations with no topic off the table, including sex and intimacy, psychedelics, and managing the chaos of raising four kids. The duo bring a refreshing blend of humor, honesty, and modern romance.

NEW HEIGHTS WITH JASON AND TRAVIS KELCE

This wildly popular podcast hosted by superstar sports brothers Jason and Travis Kelce continues to soar. While their signature NFL insider banter remains the core attraction, New Heights offers much more than just football talk. From pop culture and family stories (yes, we’re here for all the Taylor Swift references) to fashion, current events, and even the occasional chat about UFOs, the vibe is always relaxed, brotherly, and effortlessly entertaining.

CONVERSATIONS FOR COUPLES

Hosted by the Bulitts—Julie, a licensed clinical social worker, and her husband, David, a family law attorney in the D.C. metro area— Conversations for Couples offers a dynamic mix of clinical understanding and legal perspective. The show explores real-world relationship challenges, including communication breakdowns, conflict resolution, and co-parenting strategies. With warmth and authenticity, the duo draws from their own experiences as a couple and parents. Plus, the Bulitts are longtime friends of Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos, who has appeared on the podcast to share her own insights into relationships. T

STAYING TRUE TO YOU

Building a memorable brand online can be as simple as leading with intention, sharing your unique perspective, being your authentic self— and sometimes, using lots of hair spray! So, do you know the real you?

When people ask me about self-branding, I always say: Start by knowing who you are, and embrace your essence. Remember you only have the opportunity to make a first impression once. I read that people remember 25 percent of what you say and 75 percent of what you look like. So whether you’re stepping out for lunch or showing up online, make it count. Here are a few tips I’ve learned along the way.

“The first post may not be perfect, but it will be yours.”

LEAD WITH PURPOSE. I never walk into a room—or post on IG—without intention. Maybe it’s to inspire, delight, or educate. Know your “why” before you show your “what.” BE YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF. Self-branding isn’t just aesthetics—it’s values. Your values. Your perspective. Not copying others. Do people know what you stand for? Tell your story. That’s what turns followers into fans. DON’T JUST CREATE—DOCUMENT. I’m not always “creating content.” I’m living my life—and letting people come along for the ride. There’s a difference, and that also makes the creative process sustainable.

BE A LITTLE PREDICTABLE (IN THE BEST WAY). People should know what to expect from you. That’s not boring—it’s iconic. Whether it’s a favorite phrase (ahem, “Hey, it’s Suebelle in Palm Beach”), a signature look, or your double espresso, repetition builds recognition. And recognition builds brand. START. Don’t wait to feel ready, don’t wait for perfect pics or the perfect plan. I started at 76 with my iPhone, my frosted pink lipstick, and something to say. If I can do it, so can you. The first post may not be perfect, but it will be yours.

So whether you’re building a business, a persona, or just the next version of you, you don’t need to be everywhere, do everything, or appeal to everyone. Just show up—confident and consistent—and let the rest follow. Iconic doesn’t mean perfect. It just means true. T

THE ICONS WHO SHAPED HER

Style inspiration can be found anywhere, but numerous ladies in the public eye have had a real impact. Whether it’s Jackie O., Nan Kemper, or someone closer to home, finding that personal connection is what makes fashion truly memorable.

Growing up in New York City is a unique experience. It’s as beautiful as it is gritty, as glamorous as it is raw. Inspiration can be found at every street corner, in every Central Park cherry blossom, on every museum walk, and in the fashion choices of the endless sea of New Yorkers. As a child in the city, I was exposed to an extraordinary array of styles and creativity at its best. I had the privilege to be able to embrace not only some of the best designers of my generation but also to grow up with my own fashion icon— my mother, Suzanne Coleman.

My mother was my first fashion inspiration. She had exceptional taste, carried herself with grace, and didn’t shy away from a bold pattern. She also had no idea that I borrowed her clothes and jewelry! Emulating her style, I grew into my own.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

I had other role models with seemingly effortless fashion sense and poise in the public eye and social circles—Jackie O., Nan Kempner, Deeda Blair, and Lynn Wyatt. I learned the importance of tailored, classic lines and how to accessorize in ways that complement without overpowering.

Shopping with my friends at Saks and Bergdorf was one of my favorite things to do. We’d stop for lunch on the seventh floor.

I’ve always admired the design houses of Gucci, Valentino, and Chanel. And of course, there’s the jewelry. In my younger days it was Tiffany, followed by Schlumberger, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels. I always wear necklaces. In my opinion, earrings are for “dress up,” and most days I can’t be bothered with them, but it’s so easy to throw on a necklace.

I leaned into my own “boho-chic” style. Flowy dresses or silk tops with pants and loafers are easy and versatile, though most days I’m running around in jeans and a T-shirt. When the day calls for it, I love to wear dresses and prefer ones that are classic, fitted, and feminine.

As I look back on my favorite and most influential style icons, I think fondly of my younger days in New York. My life was shaped by these larger-than-life figures, iconic each in their own way. Yet only one of them was uniquely my own: my mother.

It’s one thing to wear someone’s designer clothing or jewelry and emulate iconic fashion, but it’s the personal touches that make fashion truly represent the person, versus the other way around. It’s why all of jewelry that I make for my clients is bespoke, caters to their personalities, and tells their own stories. The personal touch is what makes fashion truly iconic. T

WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR…

Harboring dreams of a weekend jaunt with Jacob Elordi? Maybe tea with Timothée Chalamet? We’ve got ways that you can make it a reality! Here are five tips to manifest a famous person in your life.

If you’ve always dreamed of being celebrity adjacent, this is the story for you. Who says you have to be a celebrity to attract one? Instead, it’s all about manifesting this person. Now, more than ever, celebrities are fairly accessible. Between being on Instagram and Raya, and hanging in the Hamptons, you’re likely to meet at least one famous person this summer. So how do you make this into something real and pursue your crush?

1. Develop your own audience. It’s always a good idea to focus on yourself. Especially if your goal is to snag someone on a celeb level. What is it that draws people to you? What’s your angle? Figure that out and

make sure that you cultivate your own thing first, whatever that thing may be. Once you have built your own following, you’re more likely to be noticed by the people you might be noticing yourself.

2. Put yourself in the right places. We all know the usual celebrity hangouts and hot spots. If you’re looking to meet a VIP in person, you have to be going to the right places and genuinely enjoying yourself when you’re there. You can’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with the people around you. I’d suggest Nick and Toni’s, East Hampton Grill, Duryea’s, Carissa’s, and more of these types of places.

3. Surround yourself with support. If all your friends think you’re delusional, then that’s exactly what you will be. But if your friends and loved ones truly believe that you will and are destined to end up with your crush, you’re setting yourself up for success. Your friends should believe that you are on the same level if not on a higher level

than the object of your desire. You need hype people around you!

4. Don’t obsess. Obsessing is never the answer, especially before you’ve actually met this person in real life. Take them down from the pedestal and realize that they’re a person just like you and me. Understand and recognize that you don’t actually know them. You may like the idea of them, but are they even good for you? Will they fit into your life? If you make it all about them, they’ll notice that and be turned off.

5. Take the risk. We’ve all heard the story of the regular person putting themselves out there with a celebrity. That’s exactly what you have to do. A-listers aren’t in our orbit the same way that the average person is. They may not come across you on a dating app, and they make not see your social media. If you reach out to them, let’s say via DM, you’re giving yourself an opportunity to be seen. No harm in shooting your shot!

Unfortunately, my celeb crush is taken, and I’m married, but that won’t stop me from manifesting him daily and nightly. I’m talking to you, Callum Turner. Sorry, Dua! And sorry, Steven (my husband)! For more dating and relationship tips, follow @wemetatacme on Instagram or listen to “We Met at Acme” wherever you find your fave podcasts. Happy stargazing! T

JILL& THE

For Jill Zarin and Ally Shapiro, life in the spotlight has never been just about flashing cameras or headline buzz— it’s been about building something that lasts. From Jill’s unforgettable rise on The Real Housewives of New York City to Ally’s compelling evolution from reality TV teen to thoughtful entrepreneur, this mother-daughter duo has turned fame into foundation. Now, with new business ventures, personal reinventions, and a fresh perspective on what being “seen” really means, they’re rewriting the rules of legacy—not as reality stars, but as women in charge of their own narrative.

Ladies, what does being in the spotlight mean to each of you right now?

Jill Zarin: At this point in my life, the spotlight means having a platform

& NEXT CHAPTER ALLY

I can actually do something meaningful with. When I was younger, it was more about the glam—going to every event, saying yes to everything, networking nonstop. Now, it’s about impact. Whether it’s growing Jill Zarin Home, supporting causes I care deeply about, or mentoring women in business, I see it as a responsibility, not just a perk. Ally Shapiro: For me, it’s about using this platform and showing up as my authentic self, even when things aren’t perfect. I’ve realized that people relate more when you’re honest. The spotlight doesn’t have to mean pressure; it can also mean presence. I’m more focused on sharing things that are happening in my life so I don’t feel as lonely, and hoping others will be able to connect as well.

What’s the biggest difference between public vs. private Jill and Ally?

Zarin: In public, we definitely turn it on more—lashes, glam squads, gowns, you name it. But privately, we’re much more relaxed. Our happy place is just being in bed, in pajamas, watching TV with [boyfriend] Gary [Brody], [Pomeranian] Bossi, and Ally when she visits. What’s something people get wrong about the Zarins?

Zarin: People think we’re more calculated than we are, but the truth is, what you see is what you get. We’re brutally honest— sometimes to a fault! But we lead with love, and we laugh a lot. We’re not perfect, but we’re real. My “I know who I am and I own it” tagline still rings true today. Shapiro: I think people sometimes mistake my introverted nature for being cold or unapproachable. But I have a lot of social anxiety; I overthink everything.

Ally, what’s the best piece of advice Jill’s given you about dealing with the media?

Shapiro: My mom always told me, “Control the narrative.” That’s something I’ve carried with me, especially now that social media gives us that power. If you don’t define your story, someone else will. How did being on Bravo change life for you both?

Zarin: It completely transformed my life. It opened doors I never imagined—from launching businesses to meeting incredible people to building a brand I’m so proud of. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I don’t take it for granted.

Shapiro: It shaped me during such formative years. Growing up on camera made me self-aware, sometimes painfully so. But it also taught me resilience and helped me develop a thick skin. I wouldn’t be who I am today without it.

Jill, if Bravo called tomorrow and said, “We want you back full-time,” what’s your answer? And Ally, would you join her?

Zarin: They actually did call! I filmed Ultimate Girls Trip a few years ago, and it was such a blast reconnecting with Housewives from all over. Then they approached me again for a Legacy show, but the timing didn’t feel right. That said—never say never. I just wrapped producing a new reality show for another network, and that was a whole new challenge.

Shapiro: I’d never say never either. But I’d want it to reflect who we are today, not just who we were in 2008. I like being “Bravoadjacent.” I’d support her 100 percent, but I also like being behind the scenes. Was there ever a moment when the cameras caught something too real that you wished it hadn’t aired?

Zarin: Definitely. The grieving moments— losing friendships, losing [late husband] Bobby—those were raw. Watching it back was like reliving the pain.

Shapiro: I’ll always cringe at “fat camp,” but honestly, I’ve heard from so many people who said they felt seen because of it. It’s wild what people remember, but I’ve made peace with it.

Who’s more likely to start drama at a dinner party—and who smooths it over?

Zarin: I’ll admit it—I love a little gossip. But it’s always in good fun!

Shapiro: We both love the drama, but we also both hate conflict. I like to say we can dish it, but we can’t take it.

You’re in the Hamptons. It’s Friday night. What’s the ultimate Zarin-approved itinerary?

Shapiro: My go-to now is Montauk. Crow’s Nest for the sunset, Mary Lou’s for dinner, and Montauk Project for late-night dancing. Saturday is Surf Lodge, and Sunday we slow it down on Shelter Island.

Zarin: I’m more about charity events, boating, and elegant dinner parties than the club scene. I love being out on the water, then heading to a low-key dinner with good friends.

Ally, you broke off your engagement last summer. How is your dating journey going?

Shapiro: It’s actually been great! Dating in your thirties is so much more fun. I’ve started going to more Shabbats and events, which has been a lovely, natural way to meet people. I know what I want now and am much more confident in my own skin. I feel open and excited, not pressured.

Jill, how have you been there for Ally?

Zarin: I just tried to be a safe space. No judgment, no pressure. I told her it was okay to choose herself. That’s what love looks like—support without conditions.

What’s the wildest DM either of you has ever received—and did you respond?

Zarin: Most of my DMs are sweet, asking for product links or advice. People love to ask how I met Gary or where to find their own “Bobby.”

Shapiro: Lately, people have been DMing me about their relationships, asking whether they should call off their wedding! I always say, “I can’t tell you what to do, but if you’re asking a stranger, you probably already know the answer.”

Tell us what’s new at Jill Zarin Home! Zarin: We’re always evolving. Our signature

Our bedding and pillow lines just expanded after selling out, and our candle line—which includes one called The Hamptons—is custom-scented and poured in gorgeous double-walled glass.

What’s next for you both?

Zarin: Personally, I’m focused on slowing down a bit—spending more time in Boca Raton near my parents, which has been such a gift. Professionally, Jill Zarin Home is expanding, and I’m stepping more into producing. I want to create content that feels good, and do it on my terms.

Shapiro: I’m in a season of reinvention. I’m leaning into my voice, exploring new projects, and building our brands. Never in a million years did I think I would be where I am now, but I’ve never been happier. T

OF THE THE

POWER MIC THE

MEET THE HAMPTONS’ MEDIA MAVERICKS

From daytime TV to viral podcasts, here are the influential voices shaping our conversations who call the Hamptons home. Talia Parkinson-Jones, Joy Behar, Kim Murstein and Gail Rudnick, and Bill Hemmer prove that the East End is more than just beaches and boutiques—it’s a media powerhouse.

TALIA PARKINSON-JONES

Executive Producer, Today With Jenna & Friends

Talia, how did you get started in TV?

I went to Syracuse University and studied TV, radio, and film at the Newhouse School. My first job was at Brooklyn Community Access Television, and I started at the bottom of the bottom, and worked my way up. I’ve done everything from casting to producing reality shows, but I fell in love with daytime TV about 20 years ago and have been in daytime ever since.

You joined the Today show in 2021. How has Jenna & Friends evolved? When I started with Hoda Kotb, we grounded ourselves in what the show is about, which is friendship, and I think that has evolved so much with Jenna & Friends. The show still has the same roots in friendship, inspiration, and fun. When will you pick a new co-host? Right now, we’re still enjoying the search. We don’t have a timeline, but hopefully sooner than later.

What’s the secret to creating content that resonates with the viewer now? Authenticity. We encourage our guest co-hosts and Jenna [Bush Hager] to be themselves and talk about things that matter to them.

How has the media landscape evolved during the past several years of taking over the show?

With social media and different streaming platforms, it’s important that we’re a live TV show. We’re able to react to what’s going on in the world and what’s going on socially. What moment have you been most proud of in your career?

To be a part of a TV legend’s [Hoda Kotb] departure from the show has been the most gratifying. The biggest highlight so far has been launching something new with Jenna.

It’s important that we’re a live TV show. We’re able to react to what’s going on in the world and what’s going on socially.”

Co-host, The View, and playwright, My First Ex-Husband

You’ve witnessed seismic shifts in TV, comedy, and political discourse over the decades. What’s the biggest change in media that surprises you today?

Social media has made live performance too public. Between cancel culture and the fact that everyone in the audience has a phone makes it harder to take chances with material for fear that you might end up on Facebook or Instagram.

What’s something the audience would be surprised to know about what really happens behind the scenes at The View?

There’s a meeting every morning where the panel, plus the executive producer, producers, and others bat around possible topics to cover. These meetings are often lively but seem to end peacefully!

What advice would you give young women who want to build a longlasting career like yours?

Find something you’re good at and stick with it. Don’t ignore the encouraging signs along the way, and pay no attention to the obstacles, which are there to challenge your resolve. If you’re good at something, it will pay off in the end. What do you watch, read, or listen to when you want to stay informed or entertained? Any guilty pleasures?

I read The New York Times and The Washington Post in the morning. I watch cable news, and I check Twitter. My guilty pleasure is watching British detective stories and anything related to WW II. You’re bringing the play you wrote, My First Ex-Husband, to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on August 2. Tell us what fans can expect. True stories from women who couldn’t wait to tell me how their first marriages tanked. It’s funny. It has pathos. It’s real, just like marriage.

What does the Hamptons mean to you? I like the Hamptons because it combines suburban lifestyle with sophistication. I have not been interested in the beach, but the theaters and restaurants turn me on. Any personal or professional goals that are still on your bucket list?

Now that I’ve been writing plays, I would like to continue with that, but I can see myself going back to visual arts. The Hamptons is a great place to try out your artistic inclinations.

Find something you’re good at and stick with it. Don’t ignore the encouraging signs along the way, and pay no attention to the obstacles.” “
Kim Murstein, Gail Rudnick
The goal is to keep bridging generations and make people laugh, no matter the format.”

KIM MURSTEIN + GAIL RUDNICK

Co-hosts, “Excuse My Grandma” podcast

How has the dynamic between you shifted since launching the podcast?

Now that we’re five years in, we know exactly what our brand is and who it’s for. Personally, we’re closer than ever— with a little more bickering, naturally. Creatively, it’s evolved from just sharing our conversations to fostering a community. Looking back at your earliest episodes or posts, what feels most different now? In the beginning, we were figuring out our voice. Now, we know what our audience loves and that gives us the freedom to experiment more and keep it fresh without losing what makes it us.

Has your perspective on generational differences evolved as a result of building this platform together?

Absolutely. We started out thinking the gap was huge—and sometimes it still is—but now I see more overlap than I expected. So many so-called “modern” dating issues are just repeats of what Grandma lived through in a different era. How have the fans reacted to finally seeing Poppy?

They’re obsessed! People love when he makes a rare cameo. It’s like catching a glimpse of a celebrity. How do you keep the content fresh while staying true to the brand?

We stick to our core theme—two generations debating life and love—but we evolve how we deliver it. We bring in current trends, pop culture, or guests to spice it up, but the heart is always our banter and Grandma’s no-filter wisdom. Has being part of the Hamptons community influenced the direction of your brand or audience engagement?

Definitely. So much of “Excuse My Grandma” is tied to family, nostalgia, and summer stories, and being in the Hamptons brings that to life.

Where do you see the podcast evolving next, whether it’s platform, message, or personal focus?

We’d love to expand beyond podcast and social—maybe a book, a live show, or even a TV version. The goal is to keep bridging generations and make people laugh, no matter the format. Personally, I want to share more of my own take on modern relationships, too, alongside Grandma’s classics.

Bill, you’re approaching 20 years at Fox News. How does it feel?

It has been a ride! Honestly, I can’t imagine how 20 years can move that quickly. What has been a favorite memory from your 20 years at the network?

We went on air the night before Hurricane Katrina rolled into the Gulf Coast [August 2005] and we haven’t stopped since. As an Ohio native, what initially drew you to the Hamptons?

My first trip East was Memorial Weekend 2003. I enjoyed the chill kind of vibe over by Big Fresh Pond in Southampton. I went to dinner that night at the old Coast Grill on Noyac Road. I was hooked. How long have you been in Sag Harbor? Since 2005. Right before the crash. Timing was questionable, but the ultimate decision was not.

Why is Sag Harbor the perfect place to unwind from the nonstop news cycle?

I think most of us who work in New York City need time to recharge away from the concrete and steel. Then come back into town recharged and ready.

Do people recognize you around town?  It’s good to know we have a lot of viewers! What does your typical day in the Hamptons look like?

I like Jack’s Coffee in Sag Harbor, The Corner Bar for a local hang, and The American Hotel for anything—breakfast, lunch, or dinner. But I especially enjoy my backyard for an afternoon hang. Where do you like to hang out at night? The American Hotel has always been a favorite. I strongly recommend Chris Coyne’s “Peeko” Oysters.

Do you ever run into your colleagues out here, or do you keep your media and Hamptons worlds separate?

There’s a number of colleagues who feel the same about Sag Harbor. When it’s convenient for them—and their family— we will always find the time to catch up. What’s the last great book you read? I’m in the middle of Keith McNally’s book, I Regret Almost Everything. He’s had a great ride, too!

Tell us one random fun fact about you. I still love to see new places. I believe it’s been about 75 countries and counting. I’m losing track! T

Jeanie Strong

Owner, Sundaes on

Main

She’s a former insurance exec who swapped spreadsheets for sprinkles! Since 2022, Jeanie’s been serving frozen yogurt and candy galore at her sweet shop in Bridgehampton.

Jeanie, why did you decide to start Sundaes on Main?

We wanted to bring a fun family-friendly business to the Hamptons. When I travel with my husband, Tom, and kids, we always love a good candy and/or ice cream shop and thought it would be a good fit for us. Why did you choose Bridgehampton as the backdrop for this sweet-treat haven? Availability. The location was available. At the time we were looking for retail space, there weren’t a ton of options, but when our agent presented the building to us, we knew it was perfect. And the more we studied Main Street, the more we realized it was a perfect location. Were there any big turning points or challenges that shaped the business?

Not one specific thing. Just being present and always here helps me grow the business in a direction that suits our customers wants and needs. Maybe one was the decision to not carry the tart Froyo. It seems like such a controversy, like people think you’re not a legit frozen yogurt place because you don’t have tart, but really, it just didn’t perform all that well. I’ve found other flavors that sold better and stuck with those. What values are at the core of your business?

standard of being a good person and being respectful when in the shop. I expect good from my employees, but also my customers, as they also set a tone for others in the shop. What are your bestsellers?

For ice cream in the shop, the pineapple creamsicle. Overall, customers love our homemade whipped cream. For toppings, of course rainbow sprinkles. For candy, gummies, which far outsell chocolate, although we’ve started to gain traction for our licorice selection (my favorite!), so I’ve also seen those sales increase. What does a typical day at the shop look like for you?

locations in the Hamptons?

To be accommodating and friendly but also stand firm in holding customers to a certain

Nonstop running. I’m usually in the shop around 10 a.m. and leave around 1 a.m. I’m hands-on with everything and very particular. If I decide I don’t like the way a display looks or is performing, I’ll stay all night to take it down and start over. The bulk-candy bins and ice cream machines

My husband has, but I haven’t! Maybe if the right location comes along, we can entertain that, but for now I’m happy with the one Bridgehampton location.

We have to ask: What’s your go-to frozen yogurt order?

Southampton salted caramel and Bay Beach blackberry with chocolate sprinkles—and if I’m feeling crazy, some peanuts! T

A Day in the Life of Jennie Garth

The Beverly Hills, 90210 actress is expanding into the fashion industry with her new Hamptons-inspired Me by Jennie Garth collection. Here, she takes us along for a brand photo shoot at sea! BY EMILY WHITE

Jennie, we loved watching you on Beverly Hills, 90210 and What I Like About You. Any favorite memories from filming those iconic shows?

I have so many amazing memories, but what stands out for me are the friendships and bonds we all formed; those will be forever. We’re like family, whenever we get together and see one another a few times a year, I just feel like I’m with my brothers and sisters.

Your character, Kelly Taylor, on 90210 served as a style inspiration for many. What was your favorite outfit?

Kelly’s little white baby doll dress from Season 1. I’d still wear it today! Maybe add a few inches to the dress now, though.

How would you describe your summer style?

It’s all about effortless and quiet confidence. I love looks that aren’t fussy. When it’s hot outside, comfortable clothing is the only thing I reach for. So when we were designing the summer collections for Me by Jennie Garth, we focused on that, making sure the pieces feel good to wear while also helping women feel great about themselves.

What made you decide to start Me by Jennie Garth?

I wanted to create something for women like me, who want to feel stylish without trying too hard. Tell us about the new collection inspired by the Hamptons. I adore the vibe of the Hamptons!

I recently spent time there with my oldest daughter, Luca, and her

extended family and just fell in love with the mixture of beaches, farms, and the leisurely energy that seems to flow there. Our Hamptons’ collection is full of relaxed, elevated pieces that feel perfect for beach walks or brunch on the lawn. We pulled a lot of inspiration from the textures and tones you find in this gorgeous area. Think sun-bleached linens, soft cottons, and airy knits. We pulled inspiration from driftwood, dune grass, and giant hydrangeas. There’s an elegance to the Hamptons that we wanted to capture—effortless, pulled together, and wearable from morning to golden hour. Whether you’re barefoot on the sand or hosting friends alfresco, these pieces are meant to move with you and make you feel confident.

What keeps you motivated?

My three daughters. They inspire me to strive to be my best. I want them to think of me as someone who isn’t afraid to challenge myself, someone who always puts family first, and someone who loves with her whole heart. Knowing how important I am to them and that I’ve inspired them keeps me on the right path. What’s next for you?

Continuing to work hard and grow the world of Me by Jennie Garth, more learning from incredible guests on my “I Choose Me” podcast, striving to create more amazing clothing that encourages women to choose themselves and dress for ease and happiness, staying open to new opportunities, and always dreaming up what’s next! Farm & Forage Market

With its main storefront in Southampton, Farm & Forage Market has quickly earned cult status for its all-organic, seed oil–free offerings and curated specialty imports. Regulars line up for the avocado oil–fried chicken tenders, sourdough baked goods, and homemade dips that have become a Hamptons lunch staple. 36 Hampton Road, Southampton
