THE STORY OF PERVEZ TAUFIQ

My name is Pervez Taufiq and I’m a luxury wedding photographer Now you may ask yourself, what is a luxury wedding photographer? Traditionally a luxury wedding photographer shoots weddings that are high-budget weddings with an emphasis on location and decor

Primarily my market is the South Asian market as it usually has a more luxurious feel to weddings Last year in my third year of being a full-time photographer, my company did almost 250 weddings But I wasn’t always a photographer, in fact, my story starts in the music industry

At the age of 17, I was heavily involved with the computer industry and worked to do break-fix work at IBM as one of its youngest employees While I was always gifted when it came to computers, I was passionate about music and started my first band when I was 25 as a singer My band, Living Syndication, was signed to Atlantic Records two years later and we began touring with bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, Linkin Park, and other hard rock acts We had released two albums and during the process, I fell in love with photos and video While on tour I enjoyed creating images and music videos for our band and other bands and fell in love with capturing things from a unique perspective

After getting married in 2011 to my wife Nicole, I was asked by a friend to shoot their wedding as they had seen some of my personal photos. Though reluctant, I agreed and shot their wedding. To say it went horribly is an understatement None of the things I envisioned in my head seemed possible in a fast-moving environment of a wedding Still, when I edited and sent the photos to the couple, for some reason, they loved them Then I spoke to a friend of mine who was a wedding photographer and expressed my difficulties in achieving what I had intended on that first wedding They quickly pointed out that I needed a full-frame camera to be able to do what I envisioned, so I shot my second wedding with a very professional full-frame Canon 5D Mark III And thus began my love of shooting weddings

Though I was still working at music, consulting for the Bank of New York Mellon, and doing voiceovers for Sony Pictures, I found time to shoot weddings on the weekends I felt very much in my element with shooting and found it to be an incredible art form Unhappy with my day job, my wife urged me to quit and focus on wedding photography at the end of 2019 Just before the pandemic

Photographer @people fotografie
Page 2 Spot'less Fashion Magazine| March 2023 | Issue 63 @spotlessfashionmagazine

And so the next year in 2021, I expanded my team, built an office in India and Los Angeles, and took on 172 weddings that year. Our clients resonated with our technique and approach, and our style shifted to focus on the luxury market. With my wife shooting weddings by my side, as well as having our three kids in tow, we ended up traveling the world to shoot destination luxury weddings in 17 different countries

When the world shut down, I remember thinking maybe I had made a huge mistake leaving the safety of IT and what I was good at, though I wasn’t fulfilled, for something seemingly impractical in a saturated market Then, something happened that took me by surprise. In the middle of the pandemic, brides who still wanted to do intimate weddings started booking me left and right what I learned was that though you could cancel the DJ, the caterer, the florist, the venue, and the planner, you still needed a photographer to capture your day, no matter how big or small your wedding was. So, in the heart of the pandemic, I shot 45 weddings in 2020 I took the opportunity to take couples to remote locations around the world, capitalizing on how low ticket prices were and how desolate these once-packed locations had become giving me a playground to practice and create In doing all these destination wedding shoots, I had unknowingly built an arsenal of portfolio photos for social media that allowed me to speak to hundreds of locations worldwide It also allowed me to meet other talented photographers and videographers around the world to recruit and train them to work with our brand

Page 3 Spot'less Fashion Magazine| March 2023 | Issue 63 @spotlessfashionmagazine

The life we lead shooting internationally is a unique one We don’t see our home in Boston much, but we do travel the planet learning from every place we are fortunate enough to shoot Our clients range from celebrities to brides and grooms who have a discerning eye and know the energy we bring to a wedding day We think of ourselves as friends with cameras, and the level of friendship and intimacy we share with our clients allows us to get close without the stigma of being “the photographer” With 36 team members worldwide, we shoot 5 or 6 weddings almost every week as a company, and it’s been a whirlwind of awesomeness The world has become our home and you can normally find us on row 7 of whatever airline is taking us to our next magical destination Our advice to those looking to follow their dreams and do what they love best is to bite the bullet and dive into whatever it is that excites them When you’re passionate about what you do, the rest will follow

@JANA HAAG

My parents told me that when I was little I already loved being in front of the camera. Every time I heard the camera clicking I was in position and ready for that photo to be taken. One time my family surprised me with a professional beauty photoshooting and I just knew that this is what I wanted to keep doing in my life.

My passion for photography continued and I started taking pictures from landscapes, during holidays and travelling or simply from other different objects

After graduation I spent 2 years in New Zealand where I met a talented hobby photographer and the results after each photoshoot still amaze me each time I look at them They boosted my confidence a lot and supported my decision to keep modeling

Back in my birth country, photographers started contacting me and I slowly built up a portfolio This wasn't always as easy as it might seem Some photographers didn't provide the promised results or didn't show up to appointments, this was disappointing and made me question the whole industry I also became very ill last year, had to take strong medicine and antibiotics and it took me months to get back on track Today I feel better than ever though Photoshoots are happening often and I am more than happy with the outcome I've already been published in some fashion & beauty magazines, been on 2 covers and one of my photos was even used as a song cover by a DJ. I also had multiple paid model jobs so far.

My closet is colourful and fancy and so is my personality. That's why I'm excited for upcoming projects in the future with new faces as well as familiar ones.

Makeup-

I started modeling in 2017. I actually wanted to be an actress and I'm still trying for it, working for it. I remember when I started modeling, preparing for portfolio, talking with other people, they were giving me advice, suggestions what to do, what to not to do and I were so nervous because I used to be so shy, introvert, never thought I can wear a bikini and standing infront of a camera and other people and posing infront of them. Everything I did by myself. I didn't had much knowledge, used to feel nervous, no confidence but I still managed myself. I don't know how but I did.

I also stopped working for few months coz I didn't knew back thn how to process, how to get work, also whenever my profile got rejected I felt like may be I can't do it. But I'm not someone who give up, I can't give up. My mom and my sister Supported me so much and they still supporting me... So I start again and that's why I'm here, progressing slowly but surely I'm happy with whatever I'm doing now, I achieved or going to achieve in the future.

Being a model changed me a lot as a person. The person in these pictures changed soooo much, changed for good. Still changing, processing everyday, now it's not just modelling anymore, it's more than that, I'm exploring, working on what I want exactly, what I am good at. No not leaving my profession but I want to try different things, to learn, to know what else I can do, and I think I'm ready to explore.

PROFESSIONAL MODEL , SELF MAKEUP ARTISTS, VIDEO EDITOR AND INFLUENCER

Page 28 Spot'less Fashion Magazine| March 2023 | Issue 63 @spotlessfashionmagazine

I’m a professional model, self makeup artists, video editor, influencer, creative makeup is my hobby so all of it started when I was a kid I used to love doing makeup although I know it’s dangerous to put makeup on face in very young age but this is how it’s started The question is how I get to know about fashion industry? And the answer is, we lived in a city when I was too young and then we have to shift in small town due to some reason and I used to love do fashion and that time I don’t have any smart phones to search anything or order something which I don’t get here and I got so much irritated from this area but still I have to live here and i getting falling more in this industry with the help of television I love to watch fashion tv shows, magazines, newspapers this is how my journey begins And I let you know what I’m doing so basically I’m a professional freelancer model and I love to do creative photoshoots and my side hustle is making makeup videos which can blow your mind I have done so many gorgeous looks which you can see on my profile @point of attraction I’m doing all of this at my own and some of my post are so precious like when i published on a newspaper, Parul Garg did my makeup, Sheena Kaur’s makeup look so I’m blessed with the best

Another question is my struggles! So as I mentioned that I belong from small town area , I have nothing here to explore more my only way is tv and newspapers then after some time I got some makeup stuff then I got keypad phone so I decide to do makeup looks but I didn’t get the same result but I always keep trying to make it work and my mom and brother supports me alot not financially but emotionally and i buy all my stuff by myself at very young age I save my pocket money for this and my real struggle is managing my schooling with my passion I got so much hate from my school that’s why i hate my school for me schooling is not worth it then lockdown happened and I got so much time to follow my passion then I started posting my makeup looks on instagram when I’m building my profile alots of makeup artist ( Parul Garg, Sheena Kaur), photographer ( Verma Pixel, Abhishake Production) hairstylist (AM Haircraft)and many more reach me to be there model and then this game getting stronger and stronger and my archivements is all of this I have archived it at my own i made my steps easy for myself

MY MY JOURNEY JOURNEY

Throughout the years of my experience working with models with little or no experience at all, I have let their smiles guide me, and their feedback teaches me to achieve even better next time. So, my journey started 6-7 years ago when I bought my first camera without knowing WHY? Some of my work colleagues gave me that advice to join them

At first, it looked like a nice hobby to relax after my job, but soon I realized portrait photography is a more complex area with many different things to learn and a long way to travel. Some photographers I met were constantly overbooked, while others needed help finding lovely models and clients for work, even if they lived in the same town.

In those years, I was also one of those guys who best girls did not contact for work.

I realized feedback from many viewpoints could help me objectively observe things and lighten my improvement path Since I studied IT, entering the world of art was another planet for me, and learning that way of living and seeing a world like the artist was a new childhood for me, and I discovered all those new worlds As my friends sometimes said: it was my travel from the world of numbers into the world of colors

It’s actually the moment when I realized it’s way more important to invest my time in knowledge than money in equipment, it’s not up to the sensor It’s up to you to see that beauty

I invested my time in networking with some creative teams and some workshops, which opened my eyes to how artists look at the world around them So I came into a new world like Alice in Wonderland.

Page 35 Spot'less Fashion Magazine| March 2023 | Issue 63 @spotlessfashionmagazine

From that point, my whole view of the girl's smile changed, and I finally understood it That moment gave me wings in my career and motivation to sharpen my skills in enhancing that smile. Going deeper into researching the psychology of female confidence, smile, and trust made me the guy I wanted to be from the early beginning

From that period, I mostly abandoned my commercial work and dedicated my skills to helping young and new models to build their first portfolios. Every girl has the confidence and skill to be a model; it’s up to you to be someone she can trust and feels self-confident to work with.

My philosophy started growing up from that idea to BECOME the person who creates that environment for work for every girl The small psychology tricks I developed through the years are here to add value to my work and push her confidence even more. Fake ideals of female beauty that hurt young girls on social media from the earliest ages are destroying confidence and selling artificial beauty, often based on botox and similar problems

Viewing every girl as the lady she deserves to be, and helping her to shine was my mission, not just a job.

Photographer needs to be fertile soil and help her grow in all ways. My main goal is to put all my knowledge and network of my connections to help her build confidence and portfolio together Also, an even more critical part of the mission is to make the effect of PUSH Not the DRAG her

Page 36 Spot'less Fashion Magazine| March 2023 | Issue 63 @spotlessfashionmagazine Model - @aniisao

I must recognize and RESPECT her goals in modeling and fashion. To be there to push her in her direction, not to make a copy of my ideas on her. Selfconfidence is made upon my support, not dragging Rejecting botox ideals is not just a matter of taste, it is also self-respect Many young photographers asking me to be their mentor are the best proof that I am on the right track Her smile is my best marketing

My next step in my career is to publish some tutorials about psychology to help others to understand models better.

When it comes to concept photoshoot, we in our magazine have the pleasure to work with Abhishek Goswami and for this edition he chooses the concept of Bandhutva ( THE INDRA’S NET) He has the ability to bewitch us with all his artworks be it painting photography or film making We can see his deep understanding of our culture philosophy and surrounding in all his artworks When it comes to concept photoshoot there is no one better than Abhishek as he believes in creating original concepts for every shoot In all the final photographs created by him, beauty and confidence is displayed

I was delighted to work with him and to understand the philosophy of Bandhutva (THE INDRA’S NET) from the creator (Abhishek Goswami) himself As we all know that we are all connected with our surroundings Each and every soul is connected in a highly spiritual way In these photographs he has displayed the concept of life or existence is happening as one The human individual identity is for a brief time for our individual experience of I am ” but the core fundamental truth of existence is happening as ONE big living entity of the Cosmos Every living being be it human animals or plants are all connected as ONE Cosmic energy

THE ONLY BONDING THAT LASTS FOREVER IS.... " "

The purpose of understanding human existence is to slowly understand the concept of being connected with everything in a deeper level Every living being consumes the energy that is around us This is the true meaning of Bandhutva, that we all are sharing a beautiful friendship as we exist Abhishek has really created a very beautiful concept and has illuminated us, with the advantage and strength of friendship. Only a person who finds the essence of friendship in everything around us can create such enchanted concept, soul and eye pleasing outcomes as photographs As per our magazine we would like to name Abhishek Goswami as “Mitr”

(friend in SANSKRIT)

I’m really blessed to see and talk to him about the process of creativity that he goes through before creating such beautiful concepts He is very committed to create the best visual expressions every time There is a display of deep knowledge and wisdom in all his artworks He has always showcased his deep knowledge about philosophy and the art of living in everything he creates As a magazine we work with a lot of artist but working with “Mitr” has always being the best experience as we get to learn so much from him His artworks always guide us to grow, be more acceptable towards others and become the vision of ourselves

In all the artworks created by you, have a deep philosophy and understanding of our surroundings. What do you go through in creating the concepts for the photoshoot?

First of all Thank you I am so glad that you gave such perception of my artworks

Actually all of it starts from observation, studying, analyzing and then a zeal to represent it visually via appropriate means with a concrete plan Being a visual artist I always try to visualize the visual symbolism which have to be implied to represent the philosophy or experiences we are in to It starts with in mind as lots of imaginations and then we have to record it in raw form via storyboarding After a long analyzing process of sorting out best expressive storyboards and planning to create the final visual outcomes { in this case still images of course} with applicable props location set models etc; then we have to decide the required set and location then we have to decide that which kind of models will be suitable to express this whole conceptual visual representation Sometimes we have to decide select from the available props and sometimes we have to create the required props from the very scratch level The postures , positioning and expressions of models is first visualized to depict the very essence of philosophy and afterwards implied during the very execution of this whole expression process in practical manner

Readers would like to understand about the philosophy you are depicting in your highly aesthetic visual outcomes. Would you like to explain that in few words?

Since last few years I was studying about many philosophies regarding the unanimous nature of universe or let say this whole existence what we call “ cosmos Many enlightened people have had described it in different ways since ancient past But it is not much clear until you really experience it yourself with your inner core deep down There are theories of multiverses parallel universes etc and we do always wonder about the concept of time; some theories explain it as a fourth dimension and some other theories take it differently In materialistic approach we try to set parameters of measuring time as per our tiny changes, sequences of patterns of changes in aspect of matter; while if we deny the identity of being just a piece of matter and accept the whole as we ” bonded with an eternal divine force “maitree”, then the changes seems to be irrelevant & meaningless and then how time will be defined!

On a smaller scale we can feel the philosophy of VASUDHAIV KUTUMBAKAM but on cosmic scale we can feel the universal nexus : a bond of cosmic energies which remains intact whole time Some learned and enlightened researchers felt it & described it as “THE INDRA’S NET” in ancient Indian philosophical literature And the “bond” could be described as BANDHUTVA Where the ego gets vanished completely and there is no I remained in conscious as this particular state of mind is like “MAI TUM BHI AUR TUM BHI MAI” After all the only bonding or relation which could stay forever is “MAITREE”

What are the technical aspects involved in creating such breath taking outcomes ?

Props implication

Lights application

Set designing Composition & alignment of elements with in the frame

Camera settings

Additional special effects on the very set like wind, smoke etc

What were the complications involved in getting these captures?

To depict the very philosophy the expressions & postures for models were specific what they were not used to as of practice in other regular shoots

Positioning of models have had to be very precise with in coordination with other elements to make it rhythmic, harmonious & aesthetic while with practicality and adaptability at the same time as per the theme of the concept and particular conceptual visual expression we wanted to create

Props implication have to be styled in a specific way to depict the connection and aesthetic as well while keeping it in an applicable way with a complex coordination with all the models presented on the very set at the same time

Draping the models all together was a tedious job with maintaining all the above aspects It requires a vision for the expression we want to create with practicality & applicability while making it aesthetic for the final frame being captured as per the specific theme of that particular picture In draping, the way the prop { a long cloth piece in this case } will go have to be preplanned & predetermined well with all the reasoning for why where & how

This journey has had its drawbacks as nudity is taboo in most cultures, including mine. I have had platforms removed due to poor characterization and misinformation regarding the nude body as a whole. Although rewarding in the end, it was very frustrating as one instance my account was removed during the #MyNudeMyTruth campaign in 2021. It was devastating. In retrospect, I've learned the value of the "setbacks" I've faced. They have made me stronger in every sense of the word.

Learning when to pivot, I find myself delving into Performance Art and directing short films. The intentions mentioned " assisting the masses in shifting into higher levels of consciousness and changing the narrative of nudity" is the root of my performances and short films. My work is a vehicle of healing and transformation, not only for me but for the onlookers/participants as well. I like to call each piece a "soul activation"
