SPOTLIGHTMinistry Ministry

At Southpointe, we don’t simply want to be a church that offers small groups. We intend to be a church OF small groups. The primary way you experience church at Southpointe is through being part of an SP Group.

“How can I get connected at Southpointe?”

We hear this question at least once a week. The answer is pretty simple. The quickest way to connect with others at Southpointe is through VOLUNTEERING to serve and being part of an SP GROUP

Our SP Groups are:

around 8-16 people grouped by location meeting every week or every other week gathering for 1.5-2 hours in members' homes spending time together discussing an engaging topic it could be the sermon from that week or something of that nature getting to know one another- sometimes over a meal. sharing about life and caring for one another

Small groups are where we invest relationally and how we “do” the parts of church that don’t always happen on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in finding out more, head over to the Groups page of our website HERE and email info@spcommunity.org with questions.

If this sounds like something that you want to be involved in, please join us for our church-wide tailgate and BBQ Wear your sports gear, bring a chair and come have fun!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Matthew Dernberger and I grew up going to Southpointe. My Mom, Julie, is one of the leaders of the Stephens Ministry Currently, I am working for Reformed University Fellowship at Western Carolina University as an intern It is the beginning of the school year and things are busy! The first few weeks are the busiest part of the year for campus ministries, similar to tax season for an accountant. I will meet with dozens of different students, text hundreds of numbers, and have hundreds of conversations in this first month. As my boss puts it, we are in the “gathering” phase of RUF where we focus on bringing in first years and new students. After about 6 weeks we start the “cultivation” phase where we really start building relationships and discipleship with the students that have been showing up consistently.

Hello Southpointe! My name is Aubree Miller and I am excited to be stepping into the role of leading the Hospitality Ministry at SPCC My husband David and I have lived in Nashville for 16 years and have been at Southpointe for nearly 12 years David and I have served together on the Hospitality team for

several years I’ve also served on our Women’s Ministry Team and in SPKids We have 3 kiddos – Beau (12), Macey (9), and Cal (7) They all enjoy helping greet on Sunday mornings. We try to make it a family affair!

I love the energy of Sunday mornings here and the opportunity to greet everyone as they arrive to worship When guests come to Southpointe, the Hospitality Team is likely their first impression of our church body

My hope is that those guests, and all that walk through the front doors, My hope is that those guests, and all that walk through the front doors, will feel the love of Jesus right away through an inviting welcome and a warm smile, will feel the love of Jesus right away through an inviting welcome and a warm smile, followed up with facilitating connection to the church body. followed up with facilitating connection to the church body.

The friendly and warm atmosphere at Southpointe was something that David and I both loved when we first visited so many years ago. I am so thankful to Mary Ellen for heading up the ministry for the last 10 years and for fostering such a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. I’m looking forward to continuing and building on what she’s established.
